    “The location and size of the property was excellent.”

    It was very clean and everything we needed was there.

    It was very clean and everything we needed was there. Parking was tricky as the access road is very narrow. There was a bit of noise from the pub but, with its close proximity, that is to be expected but worth being aware of. Bearing in mind it was November, heating instructions were not obvious so we had to work it out ourselves. Radiator heat was eratic.

The property

Set on the water’s edge, just yards from the Lifeboat Station and Fortescue pub, The Custom House is a Salcombe landmark.

Boasting stunning views over the main Salcombe anchorage towards East Portlemouth, and with quick, easy access to the town’s shops, restaurants and amenities - the perfect property for those who want to be in the centre of the action.

The stone flagged hallway leads to a cloakroom, and open plan kitchen/dining room.

The spacious kitchen is fully fitted and well equipped (including a tiled floor, two-oven AGA, central island, fridge/freezer, and a door leading out to the yard with quick access to the local pub!) and enjoys stunning views across the estuary.

On the first floor is a spacious, light and sunny sitting area with oak flooring throughout.

Comfortably furnished (with three double sofas, chairs, large TV/Sky unit, games and toys), the double French doors lead out to a magnificent balcony with panoramic views across towards East Portlemouth.

The property has five bedrooms in total, all of which are on varying levels.

On the ground floor is a large en suite double room with two single link beds.

On the first floor are two further bedrooms, a double with a small balcony, and a twin room with two single link beds.

Additionally, there is a wet room with shower, w.c.

and wash basin.

At the second floor attic level is a spacious double room, with King-size bed and magnificent views of the estuary.

There is also a further small double room, and separate bathroom with bath/shower and separate w.c.

All single beds can be made to a Super King if requested.

Parking for one car is provided (with care as access is narrow) on the quay to the front of the property.

Free Wireless broadband is available.

Mooring is available for a tender up to 8ft.

SALCOMBE

Kingsbridge 7 miles; Dartmouth 21 miles; Plymouth 24 miles; Paignton 26 miles.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.
