  • "Fantastic base for our lovely holiday, everything we needed the only down side was the very hard mattress on the double bed."

But it didn’t effect our enjoyment x

  • "The pictures showed a table and chairs in an outside space."

The reality is a concrete parking space with a bin but no sign of outdoor furniture. That said, the parking space is a plus though it would be tricky to get a large car into it

The equipment was good but the frying pan does need replacing and everything sticks to it. Hob cleaner would be good to! Generally though it is a lovely place to stay and I would recommend to friends.

The apartment could do with a washing up bowl, dust pan and brush, a coffee table and also the vacuum cleaner needs to be cleaned out regularly with an air freshener dropped in it.

  • "We have stayed here several times."

The amount of crockery and glasses have diminished over time and the sofas legs were cause for concern. We cannot get our more recent car in the parking space so will move on next visit. However for a couple with a small car who don’t need outside seating it is ideally located and a reasonable price.

  • "Great stay again at Upper Fernlea."

Position of property is ideal, close to the town centre and amenities. Great views from the property, and was very comfortable. Will be back again in the near future to our favourite place Salcombe and Upper Fernlea.

  • "Loved the apartment and will stay again."

Very convenient location and can park a small car here quite easily. Well equipped. Only thing missing that I would like would be some family games but that could be due to covid rules so bring some with you for wet weather days. We were very lucky though and managed to be out everyday (1st week in April).

  • "This is a lovely property in a great location, within walking distance to the town."

Added bonus is parking - for a smallish car. Our car was too big but this was not an issue because there was plenty of off street parking. Maybe an issue during peak season though. The property was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. It was perfect for two adults and a dog. We had a couple of queries before our stay based on previous reviews about cleanliness and standards. These were dealt with promptly and had absolutely no issues with the standard of cleaning. Unfortunately while we were there, there was no hot water in the shower. Coast and Country was very responsive and sent someone to look at it within a couple of hours. A plumber was sent out later that day but a temporary fix, while a new part was ordered, didn’t work. Can’t fault Coast and Country for the speed in which it responded. All in all, despite the hot water issue, which is hopefully now resolved, we had a very relaxing stay. Would stay again - so long as I can have a hot shower!

  • "We had a great stay at Upper fernlea."

It is located in a prime position a very short walk to all the shops, pubs and the sea front. It is very comfortable and also has partial views of the estuary. We have been to Upper fernlea a few times now, and no doubt we will be back. Just Brilliant.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We were really pleased to read that your return to Upper Fernlea was enjoyable. We very much look forward to welcoming you back soon. Coast and Country Cottages on behalf of, Property Owner

  • "We thought the property was in an excellent location."

The property, we felt property was a little tired. Cushions, bedding and towels, could do with being replaced. The shower, had lots of cobwebs and the extractor fan was full of gunk. We could have done with more towel rails in the bathroom to hang more towels, as there was 4 of us using the bathroom.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your comments. We were sorry to read that the presentation of the property was unsatisfactory for your stay and have passed this on to the owner. Thank you for bringing the cleanliness of the property to our attention. Please be assured that should you have contacted us upon your arrival, we would have arranged for the property to be recleaned. We can only apologise for the inconvenience this must have caused and do hope that your stay was enjoyable. Coast and Country Cottages on behalf of, Property Owner

  • "We have stayed in Salcombe many times and sadly this apartment was the worst place we have stayed in."

We didn’t have much choice due to Covid and all accommodation being booked up really quickly with very little choice. The plus points: nice location and a car parking space. The not so good points: This apartment needs some serious TLC ! Everything is tired and worn out. Everything that is chrome has gone rusty, bins, bar stools bathroom fittings. Carpets are very old and thread bare in second bedroom, bed linen, cushions, throws all tired and worn out ! Things that don’t work, blind in bedroom broken you have to hold the pull with both hands to get it to go up and down. Bedroom window doesn’t stay open keeps sliding down. Fan in bathroom not working so you have to open the window for condensation - might be due to the fact it is full of dust. Toilet upstairs, have to repeatedly pull chain to get it to flush ! Cleanliness- very poor, dust around plugs , dust on side in bathroom where nic nacs not moved. Kitchen stools dirty around base, bins smeared on top. Sofas not hoovered hairs and crumbs etc. Bathroom - fan not working full of dust, cobwebs hanging from window the window, and upstairs loft windows in bedroom and bathroom absolutely filthy, does not look like they have been cleaned for months, when opened filthy all around sides as well. This could be a lovely apartment by spending a little money on some new furnishings, and fixing the things that are not working. No excuse for cleanliness though ! Especially when check in is now later, so they can do a proper Covid clean ??? Really definitely not happening here.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We were terribly sorry to read that both the presentation and cleanliness of the property was unsatisfactory for your arrival. We have passed on your comments concerning the furnishings to the owner who was disappointed to learn that your stay was impacted by this. Please be assured that should you have contacted our office upon your arrival we would have arranged for the property to be re cleaned. We would like to reiterate that this is not our usual standard and is not acceptable. We can only apologise for this and hope that it did not detract too largely from what is a beautiful stay in Salcombe. Coast and Country Cottages on behalf of, Property Owner

  • "We had a great stay in Salcombe and Upper Fernlea is in a great position looking out to the estuary with a short walk into Salcombe with the all important parking space."

The kitchen and bathroom works well with a family. However, the beds and bed linen are very tired and need replacing. And a key safe outside the property is also convenient for guests to use.

In general the booking system no longer benefits those wanting to rebook the same week and by releasing all dates constantly, booking has become a free for all. Coast and country was a much better customer service orientated company before selling out to Sykes

  • "We can't fault the property."

Clean, bright, all the amenities needed and lovely view of the estuary from the front window. The location was good, but like most of Salcombe, there was a bit of a hill to climb to get to it. I would book again, however the only small drawback from us was no garden for the dog, but we found a near by park.
