    House is really equipped with everything to make it a perfect stay. Great location to walk into Salcombe, the beaches and explore this beautiful part of Devon (off street parking also greatly appreciated). Lovely welcome hamper of goodies and note from the owners. We will be back!

  • "Our ninth stay so clearly we like it."

    Just one small point the outside table on the upper terrace could do with looking at both end leaves have some damage and the hinges are a bit loose.We have booked again and are looking to our stay next year. Stephen Burgess et al.

  • "We went to Woodwell in salcombe."

    Perfect, quiet position, large secluded decking. Nice walk to north sands and Salcombe, not too hilly for children. Absolutely amazing place. A great treat. Electric charging point invaluable. Well equipped. Hope to stay again.

  • "Beautiful location with amazing views."

    Within walking distance of Salcombe and the local restaurant The Winking Prawn, which does a nice seafood BBQ after 4pm. The house is very open plan with the bedrooms on the ground floor and living area on the first floor. Simon the owner had left a very generous welcome bundle including local sausages, bacon, eggs, wine and soft drinks, which were lovely. A couple of minor things that could do with looking at: Broken bulb in side lamp in first bedroom next to front door. Loose tap in kitchen sink. Issues we had were with the TV system. The TV is complicated to use due to the surround sound and after days of no signal we had to get the owner Simon out as the house manager was away. Simon was lovely and sorted it out for us and sent an engineer out to check everything and we had no further issues with it after that. The unit the terrace chair seats are kept in needs a warning sign. The drop down door is over 7 feet in length and extremely heavy. It slipped out of my hand and crashed down on my foot leaving a nasty bruise. Anyway nothing major and I would definitely recommend Woodwell to anyone

I'm sorry about the failed bulb in the bedroom and the loose tap, both issues have been sorted. Our property manager checks the property prior to every rental and is normally eagle-eyed, thank you for bringing these to our attention. There was a storm and a short power cut on the day that you arrived and it affected the satellite signal. When you told me about it I reset the system and the signal issues were resolved. We've upgraded to Sky Q since your visit and moved the dish to simplify operation of the TV and improve the signal, both are working very well thankfully.   • "Woodwell what can I say gorgeous beautiful fabulous accommodation lovely house with a view to die for just hime and so good we booked another week in September a week is too short will try to get two weeks next year."

    Only one problem Internet went out no Tv for a few hours but who cares not an issue for us a well equipped house fabulous Aussie design upside down to take advantage of vires reminded us of our time in beautiful Mossman Sydney , the owners must be very proud of what they have achieved

  • "This was our 5th time at Woodwell and it feels like a home from home, so much so that we've booked again for next year."

    Only negatives I can think of was that we lost signal to Sky box for a while, due I assume to poor weather and Kitchen electrics tripped out shortly before we left. To sum up, the house and views are fab and we feel lucky to be able to spend a week on holiday there

  • "Beautiful property and facilities and great location and views."

    We have stayed here a couple of times before and booked it this time for our family's stay for our daughter's wedding. Thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing stay. Half way through the holiday, we had an issue with the fridge which broke down. We had to chase action with Coast and Country (otherwise recommendation would have been 10/10), but the property manager was considerate and excellent. Would certainly stay again.

We're very sorry for the inconvenience caused when the fridge stopped working, there is a second small fridge in the utility but i'm sure it was still a pain. We're pleased that Charlie, our Property Manager, jumped on it and it has now been replaced. We will speak to C&C to ensure that they respond to guest issues without delay.   • "The accommodation has amazing views and very well situated, the pictures you see on the website really are true and I think in real life actually better."

    I took an iron, dishwasher tablets, hand wash, washing liquid, these were all provided. Everything was taken care of. A lovely welcome pack which was local produce very lovely touch. I can not recommend this accommodation enough really was like home from home with with added luxuries. I would say if your a larger family or friends looking for a wonder break this is definitely the one. I will be rebooking was out of this world.

  • "Woodwell is an excellent rental house ."

    Week equipped kitchen . Felt welcoming on arrival . Only two suggestions. Key box needs some attention as we had difficulty opening it and I would suggest a small comfortable chair in the bedrooms . Otherwise zero criticism , only praise . Excellent location and magnificent view

  • "Woodwell was an absolute joy to stay at for the second year running."

    The views from the house are stunning and there is so much great living space. The property is a short walk from town so a great location. The only constructive feedback is the cleaning standards I think have slipped a bit, but I would still highly recommend.

  • "Wi Fi was very weak and the satellite signal fluctuated with the weather."

    The patio was excellent but the photographs were obviously taken when the shrubs were newly planted as they are significantly larger now making it impossible to sit and enjoy the view which was wonderful. An enjoyable stay but I doubt if we will return.

    Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry that you experienced issues with the Wifi and satellite signal. There were storms at the beginning of your stay that may have affected the satellite signal and it may have been that the router needed resetting to get the Wifi back to it's normal full coverage. It's a shame that you didn't inform us during your stay as we would certainly have resolved both of these issues for you. Suffice it to say that we've checked everything and it is now working well.   • "We should have been advised about the building works in close proximity, property not as clean as in previous years, though obviously washed large stain on duvet cover, lost power/lights three times (caused I think by a blown light bulb) and no batteries in games controllers (so grandchildren could not use)."

    Otherwise we had, as always, a great time.

    We always appreciate feedback from our guests and often act on the comments made to further improve Woodwell. It is important, however, to ensure that comments are factually correct so that other guests are not misled. Please see below: • Cleaning. The house is spotless before every visit and is double checked by our Property Manager before guests arrive. In a text you mentioned glitter on the stairs as the issue. There was categorically no glitter on the stairs prior to your arrival, its appearance is a complete mystery. You also mentioned a lack of black bin bags, there were six in lined bins and four spare, ten in total for your week. We left additional bags for you when you told us that you needed more. • Power. We note that you had plugged your electric car charger in to the garage circuit. We checked with our electrician and this is almost certainly why the power tripped rather than a bulb failing. Unfortunately, you didn’t tell us that you were using this circuit to charge your car, if you had we could have directed you to an alternative socket that would have prevented the consumer unit tripping. Light bulbs do eventually fail, as I’m sure you appreciate. • Batteries. There were batteries in all games controllers, they were replaced just prior to your visit and were fully functioning when we checked them on your departure. Turning the controllers on is simple when you know how, it would have been so much better if you had asked us how to turn them on so that your grandchildren didn’t miss out. • Duvet. All fresh bedlinen, towels etc are fastidiously checked before every visit to ensure that it is all immaculately clean. We checked all bedlinen on your departure and could find no stain such as you described. You informed us of this issue two days before your departure, again, it would have been much better if you had shown us any stain earlier and we would have changed the bedding immediately, even if it happened at any time during your stay. • Building works. Completion of the property nearby has been delayed by the Covid pandemic and unfortunately this has meant that there is some ongoing internal building work. The project will be complete in the autumn. We note that you have booked for 2022 already. On this next visit, please bring any issues that you have to our attention immediately, rather than leaving it to near the end of your stay, and we will do our utmost to resolve them straight away.   • "The family break at Woodwell Salcombe was superb, especially after such a long Covid lockdown!"

    We all came away fully rested and regretting that we had not booked it for a week! Everything was just perfect! The booking process was effective, the accommodation was amazing, with the finest views of Salcombe and the estuary! The level of equipment, appliances and furnishings were excellent! Although the weather was mixed there was plenty to do, both in the house and surrounding area! The property was exceptionally clean, the bedding and towels were lovely just what is required! The house manager was incredibly polite and had ensured that the property was very well prepared, with such well thought out local produce waiting for us to enjoy! And a lovely welcoming card from the owners! We will definitely return and consider using coast and country to book with again! Thank you to the owners for allowing people to enjoy such a wonderful property we certainly appreciated it! And many congratulations to who ever designed and decorated it, it was outstanding and well thought through!

  • "Most expectations met but there were a lack of recycling bags,There were no tea towels,luckily we brought some extras and no towelling robes which we had on previous visits."

    In addition the wonderful picture windows had not been cleaned.We could see where people’s head s had leaned against the windows.-not good in Covid times.This was our 6th visit and there had been a drop off in cleaning standards.We have booked again for next year but this drop in cleaning standards does not reflect well on Sykes

    Thank you for your feedback with regard to your most recent stay at Woodwell. We are sorry that you experienced some issues that fell below the high standards you have come to expect from your stays at Woodwell. It was a significant challenge to open up Woodwell for guests during the Covid-19 pandemic in particular with regard to finding cleaners willing to undertake changeovers along with bedlinen/towels suppliers and laundry firms that were still able to operate. Under firm advice from Sykes we were asked to remove as many things that were deemed to be an additional Covid risk to guests, cleaners etc. This included the face to face welcome for new guests, any unnecessary toiletries, dressing gowns, fresh flowers, wine and even the visitor’s book. To take your points in turn: - No tea towels. The laundry firm should have left tea towels for your use. We apologise that they failed to do this for you; we have told them of this oversight and they have asked me to apologise on their behalf. - Not enough recycling bags. We had to remove the rolls of blue and clear bags because of the risk of Covid-19 being passed from one weeks’ guests to another. Clearly extra bags should have been left for your stay, we’ll make sure that ample bags are left for guests in the future. - No dressing gowns. These have been removed as they were deemed to be an unnecessary Covid-19 risk for guests and cleaners/laundry staff. This was stated in the updated Guest Information manual but we understand if you may have missed that. - Marks on the inside of the windows. I can assure you that the whole property is intensively cleaned on each changeover day. We have twice the number of cleaners engaged in the changeover clean and they sanitise the property from top to bottom. This should include cleaning the windows on the inside. I have shared your feedback with the cleaning firm and they were very apologetic, this is the only complaint we have received this season regarding standard of cleanliness. We are delighted that you have booked to return next year where I sincerely hope a vaccine will have been introduced and ‘normal service’ will be resumed at Woodwell. If you do experience any issues at all on your next stay please contact Coast and Country immediately to ensure that they are resolved to your satisfaction. We have spoken with Coast and Country and they said they always encourage their guests to contact them during their stay if there is any issue whatsoever. Property Owner

  • "Excellent property with fantastic open living space and beautiful views."

    Great BBQ But was not well positioned on lower terrace. Insufficient lighting to use in the evening. BBQ would be better positioned on top terrace to enjoy cooking as a family.

  • "We have stayed in this property before so we knew what to expect and overall were very happy with our stay in this beautiful property with it’s fabulous views, despite the issues and restrictions caused by COVID-19."

    A few minor niggles worth mentioning, several of the controllers in the mezzanine games area had no working batteries, after using the washing machine the clothes smelt strongly of “fried food”,suggest the filters should be cleaned, and the plug on the iron was loose and had to be repaired before use. However, we would stay here again

  • "Great house, location and views - we loved it."

    It needs a full length mirror somewhere. And also maybe leave tin foil and cling film in the kitchen. The welcome pack was fantastic and much appreciated, as were the fresh flowers and toiletries, dishwasher tablets etc. Excellent attention to detail. Would book again.

Situated in a peaceful location, enjoy a 10-minute walk down to unspoilt North Sands beach one way or into picturesque Salcombe the other way, to explore the pretty waterfront and the shops, restaurants and art galleries of this popular sailing town.

Ideal for special family holidays or celebrations with friends, the light, open plan living spaces and the very special Bulthaup kitchen, plus two large outside terraces, have all been designed with entertaining in mind and to make the most of the fabulous views. Kingsbridge 7 miles; Dartmouth 21 miles; Plymouth 24 miles; Paignton 26 miles.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.
