  • "The property was excellently located but the facilities were a little tired."

However we would definitely come back .

  • "I was quite disappointed with the level of cleanliness of the cottage and the lack of communication on arrival."

The cottage was dirty and amenities were limited (ie only two tea spoons)

  • "Very nice, comfortable and well-equipped little cottage, ideal for couples or family with 2 small children."

Lack of WiFi would be more of a problem to some but didn't bother us. Situation could not be better; literally moments to reach the water at high tide, but better to take a further 5 minutes to the main beach to swim away from the small boats that fill the back beach. Also just minutes away from nearby cafes and pubs, and easy access to friendly local shops. We had a great time (we stayed for 2 weeks) and would heartily recommend it.

  • "Tony the owner was great, picked us up from the station and dropped us at the cottage and showed us around."

Nice touch with some basic supplies in the fridge for us.....bread, milk, butter, cheese, juice and a bottle of wine. Great location, literally a stones throw from the beach. Wifi would have been nice but I guess you can't have it all.

Back beach is on your doorstep, lots of places to eat and shop Thankyou for having us!

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at the Sunshine Cottage."

It was comfortable and cosy, in an excellent position. Facilities were good except for lack of WiFi and the owner most helpful. Street parking was an issue at times, it is worth buying a weekly parking pass in the town car park nearby.

  • "We were extremely happy with our stay at the cottage."

It was a home away from home and the fact that it is 10 seconds (if that) away from the water was a big plus especially for the price!! I cant think of a better way to start the day then with a coffee sitting next to the bay windows of the master bedroom looking out at all the boats on the water. Once night came and it was a bit to chilling sit outside on the raised decking area we would switch the lamps and the electric fire on , enjoy a nice cold beer and play some board games in a cosy cottage living room. The only thing I would say is the steps going upstairs are quite steep for toddlers ( which we knew from previous reviews) all we did to tackle this was bring a travel cot to ensure our daughter ( 2.5 years old ) could not walk down on her at night solving the issue. We would highly recommend staying here! We will definitely book again next year but next time for longer!!

  • "Lovely cottage in a central location."

Plenty to do I. Teignmouth and a good base for exploring the area. Parking is a pain, but a weekly pass can be paid for online, to cover several car parks in the area. I loved the roof terrace in the sunshine.

  • "The location of the cottage was amazing just up from the sea."

The cottage is beautiful , within walking distance from the shops restaurants and pubs if you needed them . 5 minutes walk from the main beach . While it's not every bodies idea of a holiday if you want a slow paced holiday with peace and quiet which is what we wanted I would recommend it to anybody I would like to go there again. We arranged to meet the owner who showed us round the cottage they even left some grocery items for us . Personally my wife and I can't find fault with the whole holiday

The property

This cosy, character terraced holiday home was once a fisherman’s cottage and is located on a slipway down to Back Beach, in the popular coastal resort of Teignmouth.

A lovely haven for a traditional seaside holiday, ideal for a small family or group of friends.

Take a few paces up from Back Beach, step through the front door and you’re ready to relax in front of the TV in this comfy fisherman’s sitting room, complete with a foldaway dining table and chairs for a meal in.

From the galley kitchen at the rear there is a door leading to the courtyard with steps up to a decked area with striking harbour views, making it a fabulous place to take a refreshing breakfast in the sunshine of south Devon’s traditional seaside resort.

There are two bedrooms, a double with bay window and views over the harbour and up the River Teign, plus a bunk room large enough for adults, but ideal for children.

The cottage is so handy for town, where you will find plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants in this busy seaside resort.

There are many family activities to enjoy as well, including an outdoor swimming pool, skate park, adventure golf and two miles of sandy beaches.

Wander along the splendid promenade to the working port on the river side of town, where will see plenty of ships coming and going in this fast-flowing estuary current.

Looking across the River Teign you see the charming small regency town of Shaldon, home to the Shaldon Wildlife Trust's breeding centre for rare mammals, along with the well-known beach at Ness Cove, reached through a genuine smugglers' tunnel.

Down the coast is the English Riviera, with its micro-climate, tall palm trees, well laid-out municipal gardens and large promenade, lined with ice cream shops and cafes.

Torquay is the birthplace of Agatha Christie and so there are plenty of historic reminders of the author, plus this seaside town also provided the inspiration for the classic British comedy Fawlty Towers.

Paignton, which has a fabulous zoo and a steam train taking you to the River Dart, is also another day's outing.

There’s plenty to see and do whilst staying at this charming cottage.
