  • "Higher Hill Barn is a beautifully converted bar."

Everything was decorated to a high standard. It had everything and more for you holiday needs. Having the 5 bathrooms was a bonus. The added extras were a welcome surprise (the food hamper, milk and flowers) Thank you

We cooked several meals during our stay and the whole experience was fantastic. The views are unbelievable from the windows and we were also very lucky with the weather. We were overall very happy with our experience and would not hesitate recommending Higher Hill Barn to people.

  • "Beautiful barn, garden and and surrounding area."

Perfect for our family group to stay for a wedding nearby. 6 adults and 3 teenagers. Shame we were only there for a long weekend. Spacious and clean. Comfortable beds. Home from home. Thoughtful touches, for example hamper, helpful instructions, and plenty of games. Would love to return. Water pressure a little low in our ensuite shower, but can adjust shower head which helps a bit. Found the upstairs bath with shower attachment much better for washing long hair. Really just an amazing, peaceful place to stay. Love the upstairs open plan layout and gorgeous views of the countryside.

Thank you for your glowing comment. So pleased you enjoyed the Barn. We’l look into the water pressure issue as that hasn’t happened before Property Owner

lovely walks around the area. The barn has everything that you will need to enjoy your holiday, we loved the bedrooms on the ground floor as this meant it was actually cooler in the hot days. beds are super comfortable and had the best nights sleep. We didnt have internet for a couple of days, this was due to an issue further down the line, this was sorted as quick as possible. The air source heat pump failed and there was no hot water, the property manager arranged for the plumber to come out that day and hot water was restored. none of these issues prevented us from enjoying the holiday and we are looking to return in 2024 or 2025. Bonus was seeing the glow worms in the garden at night and watching the owls land on the games room roof.

A amazing home in a beautiful setting and stunning views . Everything we could possibly have needed and more was provided. The children had a safe garden to play in with so much space for a football area for one and a gymnastic area for another! The adults enjoyed relaxing inside and out with so much space for us to spread out . It was good to explore a bit more of this area having stayed in Loddiswell previously. Bridget was very helpful on the end of a text if needed too. We would certainly recommend to others and would love to return again in the future. Thankyou for an amazing family holiday .

So pleased that you had a great stay. Bridget is a godsend! Property Owner

We had some very stormy days but our enjoyment was not affected at all as the barn is so comfortable and well equipped we were happy to remain inside watching the weather across the outstanding views. It was just a shame that the weather prevented the young children from being able to play in the lovely garden. Will come again.

the barn had everything we could need and the space upstairs was well set out so that there was lots of room to move around and able to all sit around the table. the small snug was perfect for the little ones to have their toys and games away from adults. the beds were comfortable and lovely to have a bathroom for each bedroom. the small touches of around the house of art and insects hidden in the wood and the rafters. this is a beautiful property in a lovely part of the country with lots to see around the area. it took a while to get used to the Devon hedges but most attractions we visited were within a half hour drive

The only outside sounds we heard were birds singing, nearby cattle at feeding time and the bell ringing of the local church. Every little detail had been thought of to make our stay comfortable. All you could ever want in the fabulous kitchen, spacious comfortable lounge area and bedrooms, games room, plenty of hot water to service the 5 bathrooms with ample outside space. As parents with our older teens & grandparents too we all agreed a lovely base to our holiday, couldn’t of been better. If I had to mention anything I would say it maybe should be more clear that although ground floor bedrooms the other facilities are all first floor via fairly steep staircase.

  • "What a great place."

Lots of room and real attention to detail in the way the house has been converted. Spotlessly clean and a kitchen far better equipped than our own. There's even a small games room above the garage with a pub pool table which was an unexpected winner with my eldest daughter (and me). The house is situated in working agricultural land so its not picture postcard leafy Devon valleys or rolling hills full of sheep but the house does a great deal to make up for that. The real test for us was that the weather was pretty awful while we were there and we still enjoyed our break primarily because of the great house.

The furniture and fittings made for a luxurious long weekend. The cooler autumn evenings meant we were unable to use the beautiful patio and barbecue area, perhaps we can return at an earlier time in the year. The setting is beautifully tranquil and we saw some lovely night skies. One small point to advise other future guests, we had a very lively 2 year old in our party, and the garden features some very enticing high level ledges, easily accessible and part of the garden design. The living accommodation is upstairs and the stairs are also not easily blocked off. Fortunately at 2 he was able to manage the stairs ok, as they are very well designed ,but it could be tricky with a slightly younger explorer. Apart from that the accommodation has a high chair and can provide a cot. The owner provides many thoughtful touches and obviously cares that his guests have an enjoyable holiday.

When booking through Sykes we did ask about baby facilities to which they told us that a cot and high chair were not available despite these being listed as available on request. After a few more phonecalls one to Coast and Country (who were fantastic) and one to the owner we established that these were indeed available. It was frustrating to get the wrong information from Sykes as these things were essential for our stay with a 12 month year old baby and it spoiled the lead up to the holiday.

Three generations of our family had foregathered to celebrate a 70th birthday and had a great time. The grandchildren loved the pond and investigating the wildlife in it. • "The Barn itself was excellent, fully equipped and some nice extra touches."

It's set, as you would guess from the name within farmland and has lovely country views all around. All though the weather could have been kinder on our stay because of the comfort and facilities within the barn it didn't spoil our visit. The only downside to the location, If you can describe it as a downside was the narrow roads on the approach to the property. However anyone who has visited this pretty part of the country would expect it and for us was apart of the attraction to it's location. It is centred around many attractions and family beaches and is only a short drive away from many. Our 7 days at the Barn went far too fast and is a perfect place to relax.

  • "We book a holiday let every year and our requirements change as the family grows."

This year it was 7 adults and 3 children + toddler and we all agreed it was the best place yet. This fantastic property has everything, It would take too long to list all the likes but will say that it is a very high quality property fitted out beautifully in a great central area of the South Hams, the rooms are large and provide all you need, everything is spotlessly clean and the kitchen has every accessory required. Outside space matches the inside, fantastic. This would be a great place to stay any time of the year and we think great value for money, probably shouldn't say this but we think it could attract a higher rental than is currently charged. There were no dislikes on this property no matter how hard we tried to find one. Do not hesitate to book this property, you will love it.
