  • "Very happy with accommodation ."

The only drawback was the lack of heat in the couple of chilly evenings, with an older group.

  • "We have just got back from a week at this stunning house."

From the moment we arrived there was a sense of relaxation. The house has lots of pretty & interesting things to discover during your stay. The house was very clean and felt COVID safe on our arrival & had antibac gel by the door. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need including tea towels. There is a huge dining table & there was plenty of seating in the lounge for our 6 adults and 1 toddler group. A high chair can be found along with a small desk under the stairs. The garden is a lovely relaxing place to sit if you have good weather. There is another huge table & pretty chairs on the decking. It is a very private garden to sit & watch the birds and squirrels. There is also a washing line around the corner if you need it. In the evening you can watch the solar lights twinkle. From many of the upstairs windows you can see the sea, it was lovely to count the cruise ships anchored up & see them all lit up at night. The bedrooms are all beautifully decorated & the bath was a lovely place to relax. There are also 3 very good showers upstairs. All the bedding and towels were top quality along with all the fixtures and fittings. There was plenty of parking for our 3 cars & you could probably get another 2 in the drive if needed, but would have to manoeuvre to let people out. This area is very hilly but it is walkable to the beach and Paignton town. We did it with a pushchair but would suggest you walk to the beach & go into town along the seafront and go back the same way, as less steep. It was the perfect place for us & our family & we would love to return to this beautiful home again. We loved the bottle of fizz cooling in the fridge on our arrival which was a lovely surprise.

  • "We had a lovely week in this gorgeous house."

Four adults plus three teenagers with plenty of space for us all - a bonus to have 3 bathrooms! Summer is brilliantly equipped with everything you could possibly need to be home from home. The crockery and glassware in particular is second to none! The location of the house in Paignton is good. However, it is not a ‘stones throw from the beach’ which is what was presented to us in the house details from Sykes. It is a good 20/25 min walk with some extremely steep hills! We did do this walk several times! But you can also drive down into Paignton and park relatively easily for a small cost. We also had some good communication with the owners, Trudy and Flute. They made us feel welcome and were always available if we needed to ask anything about the house or surrounding areas. We really enjoyed our week in ‘Summer’ and would thoroughly recommend staying there.

The property

Nestled in the popular seaside resort of Paignton, on the scenic south coast of Devon, rests this striking holiday home, Summer.

Set a stone’s throw away from the beach and boasting a spacious and homely interior, Summer is an idyllic base for your next group celebration.

A sought-after driveway greets you upon arrival at the property, leading you over the threshold and into a handy hallway, providing the perfect space to dust off your sandy toes.

Freshen up in the cloakroom before continuing through to the snug sitting room, beautifully-decorated with quirky accessories and a gas burner, where you can put your feet up after a day of adventure.

Head through to the open-plan kitchen/diner where the designated chef can prepare some tasty treats for the group to enjoy gathered around the wooden dining table.

Many furnishings have been ethically sourced or have used reclaimed materials and Artisan skills to add to the beauty of Summer, with Eco laundry provided as a positive contribution to environmental awareness.

Escape the excitement and step outside to the well-maintained garden for a seat on the patio with your significant other, sharing a bottle of wine as you soak in the fresh sea air, taking in the panoramic views across the un-spoilt valley.

As the evening grows darker, climb the stairs to the first-floor, where you’re spoilt for choice between four double bedrooms, one benefiting from it’s own en-suite shower room, and a second boasting an impressive en-suite bathroom fit with an elegant roll-top bath alongside a walk-in shower.

In the morning, prepare for a new day with a rejuvenating rinse in the family bathroom before heading out to explore.

Pack up your bucket and spade and take the short stroll into the center of Paignton, where you can enjoy a fun-filled day at the beach, basking in the sun and sand, or meet the animals at Paignton Zoo Environmental Park, just on the outskirts of the town.

Venture to the nearby seaside resort of Torquay, nicknamed the English Riviera due to the iconic palm trees and scenic harbour that decorate the town, where you can explore the prehistoric caves at Kents Cavern, discover the local history on display at the Victorian Museum and board the Land Train, passing the scenic sights and attractions that Torquay has to offer.

Further afield is the town of Dartmouth, resting on the banks of the River Dart, home to the 14th century fortress of Dartmouth Castle, providing stunning views across the tranquil water of the Estuary, where you can indulge in a spot of traditional Devonshire afternoon tea at the neighbouring café, Dartmouth Castle Tea Rooms.

Whether you plan to spend your time unwinding at the beach, or exploring the local history, be sure to choose Summer as a base that you’ll be delighted to return to.
