  • "Just returned from our week stay at cartref and we had a brilliant time."

This was our second stay at cartref within two years. As a party of 7 again was a fantastic place to stay. House was clean and well equipped set in a quiet location, could not fault the place. Was made better as we had really good weather so we were able to get out and see some of the sights. We visited dartmour zoo, bodmin railway, the Barrator reservoir and the local market. We had a fab time. Would definitely recommend.

Car parking could be a bit tricky if you had a low to the road sporty type car due to the driveway levels.

  • "Lovely comfortable house with great facilities."

We had everything we needed and more. Garage to store bikes was useful. Garden was a nice place to sit when it wasn’t raining. Cycle path to Plymouth was nice and relatively easy - route out towards Lydford less so, but enjoyable. Tavistock is a nice little town well placed to explore Dartmoor and the North and South coasts.

Kitchen was fantastic with everything that you could think of within it. We were very lucky with the weather, and so utilised the garden. Nice to receive a call from the owners before we went, and then during our stay, after we had had a few minor issues. Certainly looking forward to returning in May 2021.

Cartref is furnished with everything you might require and has TVs in every habitable room. Tavistock is a wonderful market town, lots of independent shops and an indoor market. Good walks along the River Tavy and canal in town and out into the countryside. Will be going back again.

  • "The house was comfortable and well laid out."

It easily accommodated all the family from 2yr old to 60 yr old. We had everything we needed. We had a game between us trying to think of a utensil that was not provided. We thought we had a winner with a knife sharpener but when we searched we found one. Everything you need is in the house. We stayed for two weeks and we enjoyed our time there. Well done Morris and Sue in providing a lovely place to stay. Tavistock is a nice town to use as a base and there are plenty of places to visit close by.

  • "We booked Cartref for our two sons and their families from Hong Kong & Scotland whilst visiting us in Tavistock."

The house was amazing and had absolutely everything you could wish for. The interior is immaculate and has been modernised to a very high standard. The garden is a delight and wonderful for eating out when the weather is good. An added interest are the horses who’ll pop their heads over the fence to check out what’s going on! Tavistock, itself, is a delightful town and the Pannier Market is now open again after its mega renovation. The town is also ideal as a base for day trips across Devon & Cornwall - beaches, moors and towns. We had a fabulous week and, all in all, you’d have a hard job finding a better property!

This was our second visit and I dare say we will return again... Tavistock is undergoing a great deal of lottery funded improvements at the moment meaning the wonderful markets have relocated and the leisure centre is also having work done. Should be amazing when it is all finished.
