The property

Colley House is the former Manor House of Tedburn St Mary village in Devon.

The Quarters was the former staff accommodation to the estate and has recently undergone extensive renovation into a luxury first and second floor apartment available to book from Summer 2021.

Colley House is approached by a long sweeping private driveway and enters through the electric gates.

Parking spaces are conveniently located in front of The Quarters, making it easy to unload and start enjoying your staycation.

This property is an idyllic base for a romantic retreat for one or two couples looking to explore the county of Devon with the following attractions to name a few; the Dartmoor National Park, the Capital Cathedral City of Exeter, and coastlines in the south from Lyme Regis to the ocean maritime city of Plymouth.

You enter the Quarters via the ground floor lobby, the first thing you will notice is the gold cast iron radiator and quirky designer wallpaper, with an upholstered bench to kick off your boots, before heading into the main areas of the apartment.

The stairs from the lobby take you to the first floor which is the main living area, where the chic décor continues through to hallway to the sitting room, home to a quirky wallpaper print feature wall, as well as a plush large leather and fabric sofa and rustic leather armchair, gathered around the designer Indian railway sleeper glass top coffee table with matching side tables, offering a snug and homely setting to enjoy a cup of tea.

After working up an appetite, head through to the open-plan kitchen/diner, beautifully-presented with wooden flooring and contrasting dark grey wood fitted kitchen, complimented by glamorous granite worktops.

A matching sleeper glass top dining table surrounded by contemporary studded chairs takes centre stage in the room, inviting you to gather around and indulge in a tasty treat and toast a glass of fizz to a fantastic holiday.

There is also a modern shower room featuring a spacious walk-in shower enclosure, with quality sanitary ware to make your stay special.

You will then lead through a hallway with big print animal head designer wallpaper and wood paneling to a handy utility room, fitted out with a washing machine and tumble dryer.

Head upstairs to the second floor to prepare for bed in the luxurious bathroom which features a fabulous roll-top bath and whilst soaking away you can enjoy the views of the rolling Devon hills, adding that further touch of opulence to your staycation.

Then choose between the two king-size bedrooms, both thoughtfully laid-out with a bright and colorful designer wallpaper, offering a traditional interior design with a sumptuous antique chesterfield armchairs and period cast iron original feature fireplaces.

Head off on foot and take the short stroll into the village of Tedburn St Mary, where the high street is lined with traditional thatched roof cottages, and indulge in a bite to eat in either The Red Lion Inn or the thatched pub, The Kings Arms.

The village also enjoys a local store which opens from early to 8pm.

Discover local history at Tedburn St Mary Church, or play a round of golf at the family-owned Fingle Glen Golf Course.

Avid walkers will be delighted by the close proximity to Dartmoor National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty, home to 954 square kilometres of moorland landscape, with forests, rivers, wetlands and granite tors to explore.

The Cathedral City of Exeter is on your doorstep, featuring a bustling high street lined with an array of shops, bars and restaurants.

Another popular area is the Exeter Quay which was the former shipping gateway into the City, where you can take a stroll along the canal to the Double Locks Pub or any of the restaurants along the way.

If you prefer a spot of tranquility, soak in the sights with a wander through the picturesque Northernhay Gardens, or visit The Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, Exeter’s Underground passages.

Travel further afield to spend the day at the beach in the seaside town of Exmouth, celebrated for its two miles of golden sand, and known as the gateway to the Jurassic Coast, beginning in Exmouth and continuing for 95 miles to Old Harry Rocks, Dorset.

Tedburn St Mary lies amidst the rural charm of inland Devon, just 3 miles from the stunning Dartmoor National Park and 7.5 miles west of the cathedral city of Exeter. The main streets of this award-winning village are lined with traditional thatched cottages, two good pubs, with The King's Arms Inn dating back to the early 1600s, and a well-stocked shop. Tedburn St Mary also offers the Tedburn Fair, held every September, stone-built cottages, a Methodist church built in 1930, a Methodist school room, which dates back from 1859, an 18-hole golf course and a monthly farmers' market. Close by is Dartmoor National Park, which is home to the Dartmoor pony and offers excellent walking, pony riding, golfing and pretty villages that are scattered amongst the dramatic landscape, plus the area has become an inspiration to many artists and writers. The city of Exeter is within driving distance and boasts beautiful architecture, theatre productions and plenty of shops, eateries and cinemas.
