“Mattresses/beds need replacing, not just putting a piece of foam on top, all this does is make you sweat and there is no support.”

If you sat on the edge you went down to the frame. The downstairs bedroom also had the noise of the oil fired boiler waking you up very early in the morning, which on holiday you don't want. BBQ had seen better days and needed replacing. All that said the house was in a lovely position close to the beach which was used a lot with two little ones. The coastal path was also very close if you like walking.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent stay at Thornbrook. We are sorry you found the beds not to be to your preference, as you can appreciate comfort of mattresses is very subjective, and we have only received complimentary comments previously. There are also instructions for the boiler in the property so you are able to adjust the time it fires up if it was disruptive to yourselves in the morning. The owner has read your comments and will review all the points raised during their next visit. We are glad you still enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back to the area again in the future. - Sykes owner relations

The property

Thornbrook is substantial detached family holiday home with private gardens, parking and sea views, set in a stunning location overlooking National Trust land and the nature reserve adjoining Thurlestone Sands beach.

Situated just 350m from the beach and just over a mile long walk from Thurlestone itself, with its post office/stores, church, 4-Star hotel, popular Village Inn, and challenging 18-hole golf course, the property is well located for exploring the area on foot.

The nearby South West Coast Path offers stunning coastal walks and spectacular views, with the delightful fishing village of Hope Cove around 15-20 minutes away in one direction, and the ever-popular surfing beach at Bantham a little further in the other.

The famous sailing town of Salcombe, with more beautiful sandy beaches and beautiful estuary, is just a short drive away, and the house is also within easy reach of the market town of Kingsbridge. With a recently upgraded kitchen, dining room, utility room, cloakroom and a cosy living area with wood-burning stove and double French doors leading out to the garden, the property has ample living space.

This three storey accommodation is comfortably furnished with five bedrooms (three of which are en suite).

There is also an adjoining games room with table football and table-tennis, mature landscaped gardens and off-road parking for 3-4 cars.

A hot tub is available - this can be used from noon on Sunday after arrival (to allow sufficient time for cleaning and safe use).

Off-road parking on driveway for 3-4 cars. Thornbrook is an exceptionally well-equipped dog-friendly and baby friendly property, ideal for a family looking for a beachside break. N.B The hot tub must be drained on departure.

Please note that if this is not done, extra charges may be incurred.

For reasons of comfort and safety the house can accommodate a maximum of eight adults in any party and no more than four children under 6 years of age (excluding babies).
