    A message was taken by the answering service but nobody ever got back to me. The bedrooms all need blackout blinds.

    The apartment is very roomy and comfortable we were the only people in the block it was so quiet and peaceful yet you are only a 10 minute walk to a lovely pub, shop and the beach. So many walks, coves and little villages to explore, a hidden gem we will definitely return.

  • "Apartment was great however - rug in lounge sheds fluff everywhere, washing machine works ok but tumble drier just seems to take forever, dish washer works but there’s a knack to closing the door properly - it needs instructions or replacing, fridge door needs mending(doesn’t affect working of fridge), opening knobs on cupboards in master bedroom need fixing into the cupboard door, lock needed for main bathroom and en suite, the plastic table covering was not clean on arrival - the top was but not the sides, the place mats have seen better days and the balcony needed a good sweep underneath the chairs."

    This seems like a long list and all these things need sorting immediately but we would return as the flat and its location were lovely.

  • "The property location and facilities were fine and probably exceeded expectations."

    However, what I believe is totally unacceptable is to allow a booking to be made and paid for in full, then to give 10 days notice by phone that the building would be surrounded by scaffolding. Work of that nature does not occur at 10 days notice and it was clear had been booked months in advance. The Sykes representative that phoned me 10 days prior to the start of the holiday said that scaffolding would only be in position for part of the holiday period, which was also clearly incorrect. The decorators were in attendance throughout the whole week (apart from when the weather made that impossible) and although they were both friendly and apologetic, the fact remains that in all rooms apart from the lounge the curtains remained mostly drawn from arrival to departure, for the sake of some privacy. The experience has certainly 'soured' our experience of Sykes Holiday Cottages, had we known of the planned decoration work we would certainly have made another choice. I have photographic evidence of the view from each of the windows should that be of interest.

  • "Tanworth Apartment No2."

    is a great location & generally is lovely but there are a few little things that need to be sorted in order to get it up to scratch - very minor items but would make the difference : i) there are quite a few stains on the cream carpet (I did try to send you some photos when I first got there but not sure they went through), ii) lots (and I mean lots) of the plates, bowls & even mugs are chipped (at least 10 items), iii) the cutlery is all miss matched (I guess this is standard for holiday lets - but a cheap set from Ikea wouldn't go amiss), iv) the pillows are mainly feather (which was a problem for our daughter who is allergic - so we had to go out & buy pillows for her), v) there are no blackout blinds/material in the curtains - this means that it is bright daylight at 5am in the bedrooms (a couple of blackout roller blinds would make a huge difference in the twin rooms - especially if you have children in those rooms), the curtains in the main bedroom need lining with blackout material vi) the cooker makes a buzzing/humming noise constantly (unless you turn it off at the wall which we did when we weren't using it) vii) the fridge does not work properly - you did provide an alternative fridge in the utility room but it was smaller than the main fridge. You also sent someone to look at the main fridge (built in) and twice the knob was turned back to setting 4 and the temperature in the fridge was back up to 10degrees when we returned to the apartment (not great for our food in there ... crab, cream etc) This isn't meant to be moan - but points where I think the property could/should be improved with minimal effort - apart from the fridge which is a big pain. The property

Ideally appointed for families and couples alike, 2 Tanworth House is a light and airy first floor apartment with lovely balcony, tastefully furnished and decorated to a high standard throughout.

Occupying a superb position close to Thurlestone Golf Club, tennis courts and village amenities, the property is within a few minutes’ walk to the South West Coast path and a number of excellent sandy beaches. From a flight of steps leading up from the communal entrance to the first floor and hallway, there is a utility room with washer/dryer and sink.

The open plan kitchen/dining area is well equipped with an integral electric oven and microwave, four ring electric hob, large fridge/freezer and dishwasher and dining area with a table and six chairs, pine dresser and iPod docking station.

The comfortable living area has a three-seater sofa, two armchairs, flat screen digital TV/DVD player and patio doors that lead out to a good size balcony with table, chairs and a bench.

Three bedrooms in total.

The master bedroom is a spacious double room with a New England style furniture and King-size bed.

Patio doors lead out to the balcony.

The superb en-suite bathroom has a walk-in shower, 'his and hers' wash basins, shaver point, w.c.

and heated towel rail.

The second and third bedrooms are both well-appointed twin rooms with two single beds, wardrobe and bedside tables.

In addition to the master en suite there is a family bathroom with a bath with shower over, w.c., wash-hand basin and mirror with shaving point.

The sailing town of Salcombe is just a 10-15 minute drive away, and the fishing village of Hope Cove is a short drive away, or can be reached on foot via the South West Coast Path.
