  • "Just back from a fantastic stay at Homefield House."

The house is very well-equipped and spacious, with a lovely big garden which the children particularly enjoyed. The location is great, with a choice of beautiful beaches nearby and the village pub with excellent food right next door. We hope to be back!

  • "Beautiful house in a good location."

Great for two families with young children. Lots of space. Showers good. Beds comfortable and big enough. Kitchen well equipped. Convenient shop a stones throw away. A bit disappointed the tumble dryer wasn’t working and I thought the house could have been a bit cleaner but it wasn’t bad. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the house to others.

  • "Lovely spacious house with a nice large garden."

Accommodated 7 adults and a baby with no problem. Kitchen was well equipped. Hairdryers in each room. Utility room with large fridge, washing machine and a dryer, there’s also an iron and cleaning equipment. Towels also provided. There’s a few little improvements that could be made though: -house was not the cleanest, a lot of the dishes in the cupboards had dried food on them and hadn’t been washed properly. The carpets in the bedroom were quite dusty too and not been vacuumed thoroughly (there was some rubbish under the dressers). The dryer was also full of lint and we had to clean before using. The sugar in the kitchen had a dirty spoon and large lumps where people had dipped there dirty teaspoon. -would have been nice if just a small milk for a cuppa on arrival had been provided, the nearest shop is a little post office which is very pricey for one and secondly closes very early (sometimes earlier then their opening times displayed). Although Tesco and Morrisons are technically just a few miles away in Kingsbridge, the drive is horrible through narrow country roads surrounding the property and feels like a chore. -we were unaware of the narrow country roads to the cottage and throughout the entire village of thurlestone, this might be something others want to consider if they’re not very confident drivers. By the end of the week we had begun to get used to the driving but would have been nice to be warned. -the pillows on the beds were far too soft for our entire family but this may just be personal preference. If the above were addressed the property would be perfect! That being said I would recommend the property and would consider staying again. Thank you.

Our only minor quibble is that some of the furnishings look quite tired.

  • "We had a wonderful week at Homefield House."

We felt at home from the moment we arrived. We catered for ourselves each evening and everything we needed in the kitchen was available. The shed was fully stocked with almost everything we might need at the beach including wind breaks. We could not fault the property it was ideal for us four adults and two small children, we have already booked for next year.

There was plenty of room, it was light and airy with a lovely garden and out side eating area too. Great location for the hotel, local shop and golf club. We hope to be able to stay there again.

  • "Beautiful property and well equipped."

Garden was perfect for a sunny evening very quiet and private. It was disappointing there was no welcome pack, milk, wine etc especially as the local shop closed at 5pm and earlier on Sunday. Thurlstone village is very small and quiet, the hotel only caters for its own guests and the local pub was definitely not suitable for children. The local shop was nice but again opening hours were fairy short. Kingsbridge isn’t far in miles, but due the the roads being so narrow everything seemed to take a long time to get too. We also didn’t find many places to eat out. If your looking for a very quiet holiday with nice walks then this is for you, however if you want a little more and have children then personally we needed more.

  • "Homefield House is an absolute find!"

Both bright and airy as well as large enough to comfortably sleep 8 people. The house lacked nothing in terms of equipment and the standard of decor is very high. All the soft furnishings were beautiful and the attention to detail was excellent. We loved having the open fire every night (take your own logs), and we had a patio with seating for sunnier days. There are sea views from the end of the garden. Parking for 4 cars easily in a secure gated driveway. Next door to the Village Inn pub, which is superb as well as a fabulous local shop. The coastal path is a few minutes walk and the views are breathtaking. We will definitely book again.

  • "Ideal setting with local amenities nearby."

The house was very well equipped and extremely clean and comfortable. Very lovely location and not too far to travel to other bigger towns or attractions. Be prepared for narrow lanes and lots of hills. There were some issues with a shower head that couldn’t be used together with doubtful electricity supply to the shaver plug in the same downstairs bathroom. The heating and hot water was lovely but neither was ever on when we woke up. A timer adjustment possibly needed.

  • "Please thank the owners for a lovely stay in a very comfortable and well equipped house."

We arrived to an indulgent Christmas hamper full of local goodies. A kind gesture. We couldn’t quite figure out recycling or the Christmas bin collection so had to just leave the bin outside the gate as the South Hams council website indicated it should have been collected on our departure day. Only suggestion would be to make clear on description that the fire can’t be used rather than say materials are not supplied and show picture of what looks like used fire.

  • "The house was comfortably furnished and extremely well equipped."

The accommodation and layout ideally suited our 3 generation family and the garden provided a lovely space to play and relax. The lanes around Thurlestone are narrow but there are a number of beaches within walking distance. For a relaxing, seaside holiday, Homefield House provided an excellent base. Two minor comments - more information / guidance about recycling facilities would be useful and a pint of milk in the fridge would have been appreciated on arrival.

  • "Homefield House is a fabulous holiday accommodation."

It is very clean and has all the facilities one needs. The house is warm and comfortable. Kitchen equipment is plentiful. There is ample room for 8 people. I was surprised to find very light coloured furnishings and carpets throughout, especially as the property is animal friendly. The garden is large, and if holidaying with children, there is plenty of space for them to play. However, there is quite a steep slope to the rear of the lawn and it is possible for a child to find it's way out of the garden in several places if unsupervised. Saying that, we had a 2 year old, and a walking 1 year old with us and it certainly would not stop us from staying at the property again. The property itself is in a quiet cul de sac with off road secure parking for at least 3 cars. There is a pub and a hotel within 100yds of the property, and a general store within a couple of hundred yards. Thurlestone beach is nearby, which is a lovely large stretch of sand with rocky outcrops. It would be possible to walk to the beach, although I wouldn't attempt it with children, as much of the road has no pavement. Kingsbridge and Salcombe are close by and well worth a visit. You can even get a takeaway delivered to your door from Kingsbridge. All in all, the holiday was very enjoyable, due in no short order by the quality of the accommodation. I would be happy to return!

This house was great for 8 adults. However the communication with Sykes prior to our holiday was poor - I sent 4 emails and still have had no response - the question was very simple -“ what are your covid 19 enhanced cleaning procedures”. I recognise that you were very busy but to have no response was indefensible to such a simple question. And your website did not include any useful information on this topic. Other than this we had a very good holiday.

Lovely house in great setting. Only minor comment would be that the lovely rose bush on the patio had not had dead heads removed and they had gone brown with the rain, which was a shame. Also some of the bushes could do with pruning. Apart from that, a great time and would use again.
