  • "Lovely property, very comfortable and nicely situated with regards to area."

Slight damp smell in Annexe. Road noise (which cannot be helped)

  • "We had a fantastic week at the property, it was very well equipped, really comfortable and a great location with a short walk into the lovely town of Kingsbridge."

It’s also a great base for exploring the wider area. Special shout out to Jules who was fantastically helpful, answering our questions and sorting out a couple of minor issues. It was a great break for the whole family.

  • "We had a lovely stay."

The apartment was as we expected. There were a few issues on arrival from the previous occupiers that the owner informed us about and was dealing with so it caused no issues and the owner was very helpful. From a personal perspective the main road is busier than we anticipated but of course there is nothing you can do about that! Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • "The property was not as expected, the furniture was good quality but the maintenance let it down."

We had broken decking boards which was a trip hazard, the PAT testing on electrical items were out of date. The annex was missing the microwave. The bed linen was old and marked, we did report this while on holiday and when we came back and are waiting for a reasonable outcome.

  • "The accommodation had everything we needed and was very well equipped so we could cook in evenings when needed."

Excellently positioned opposite the Crabshell Bay pub and restaurant and a short walk into Kingsbridge. Well positioned for variety of beaches and Salcombe. Loved the balcony in the sun for a pre dinner drink too.

  • "I was astonished, on ringing the property contact number late on the Saturday afternoon of our arrival in order to enquire about the key-box number, which I had not received, to be told that they had not been advised by Sykes Cottages of our booking."

This was an extraordinary failure on the part of Sykes Cottages. Fortunately, Jules Horner, at the property, was very efficient and, after a series of telephone calls, the booking was validated and we were told that the property was available and would be made ready for us by 16:30. I had fully expected to be contacted by Sykes to apologise for the uncertainty, stress and inconvenience caused to us by your extraordinary omission to ensure and confirm this vital communication. I am further astonished that you did not do so at the time, and nor have you bothered to do so since, which indicates as complete absence of internal communication, customer service and management awareness.

Location and weather made our stay most enjoyable. Dave

  • "Positives : The property is very well positioned, modern, clean and well equipped."

Off road parking is a plus in this area. Negatives : Several bulbs out in the inset lights (a particular bug bear of mine), the toilet seat in the main bathroom was broken on arrival - not a problem for us as we used the en-suite, the thermostat on the shower in the main bathroom was broken - hot water very intermittent. No access to Channel 4 on the TV as not supported by Freesat. I did text regarding this problem as didn't realise it wasn't supported at first, but didn't receive a response. Unless you are familiar with the Freesat options (we weren't) difficult to access - no idiots guide and a pain having to sign in to Iplayer, ITV hub etc. No manual for oven.

The busy little town of Kingsbridge lies at the head of a marine estuary in the attractive South Hams area of South Devon. Kingsbridge is home to a range of lovely independent shops and coffee shops, as well as a 3-screen cinema and an award-winning pub. During the summer season there are estuary excursions by ferry to Salcombe which lies on the banks of the Kingsbridge Estuary, making it one of the prettiest towns in South Devon. Salcombe is famous for its outstanding coastal views, rolling countryside, and is a watersports paradise for kayaking, surfing, paddle boarding and powerboating. It is packed with boutique shops, high street brands and independent producers, restaurants serving freshly caught seafood, and Salcombe Gin and Ice cream! Kingsbridge is perfectly located as a base to enjoy the abundant wildlife in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), which also forms part of the South Devon Heritage Coast. Visitors can take a walk along the Kingsbridge Quay, wander through the narrow alleys off Fore Street or visit the Shambles in Totnes, an Elizabethan market arcade. Around the South Hams area there are picturesque ports, such as Dartmouth and Salcombe, together with sandy beaches at Blackpool Sands near Stoke Fleming and the two sandy beaches at Thurlestone. There are a host of small attractive villages in South Hams offering interesting pubs, local farm produce shops and pretty rows of cottages, plus further afield the waterfront city of Plymouth is a vibrant centre, housing the National Marine Aquarium, historic Barbican Quay and plenty of night life, including theatres, restaurants and bars. Kingsbridge can be easily reached by train to Totnes and then a local bus service which will take you to Kingsbridge town centre.
