  • "Had a fantastic week away at Crooke barn, Steve and Gillian were great and very welcoming."

  • "Crooke Barn is in a beautiful position, it is very quiet and peaceful."

The immediate garden is very private and well fenced, so no worries about dogs getting out. There is a very nice walk just down the lane and into Buzzard woods, great for dog walking. The barn itself is very well appointed and very comfortable. The kitchen is very well laid out and lacks for nothing. The owners Steve and Gillian, met us as we arrived, and were very friendly and gave us a tour of the barn and most importantly, instructions on the use of the hot tub!. Steve popped by a day or so later to make sure everything was ok which was much appreciated. There was a welcome pack waiting for us inside as well, coffee, tea, jam, a loaf, scones - all very welcome! Tiverton is very quick to get to, so supermarkets are within easy reach. We had a very restful and enjoyable week.

  • "We enjoyed our stay here very much, the views were beautiful, as were the owners."

The only thing we would say is the lanes are very tight and they’re a lot of pot holes so will need to drive slow & be careful.

  • "When booking a property our criteria is dog friendly, hot tub, enclosed garden and log burner."

Crooke Barn is one of the few properties that truly meets this criteria. Hence this was our second trip to this lovely barn, it is very comfortable well equipped and you want for nothing, the hot tub and its views are tremendous. Stunning walks straight from the door, the dogs were in heaven. Gillian & Steve are wonderful hosts. We will return again.

  • "Exceptionally well kitted exclusive cottage - they thought of everything, in a very pretty area of rolling hills."

Owners have thought of everything including a very useful binder describing local area things to see and do, and a fire already made up ready to light. Up early we used the cottage to traverse up and down the Devon area, usually back by 3:00 for a dip in the hot tub and a quiet late afternoon read. The farm is fairly isolated, down a couple miles of country roads - part of the charm, but the reason not a '10'. The owners are on site and are a lovely couple/family. The facilities are dog friendly (Including bowls and towels.) Nearby to a few National Trust properties and Buzzards Woodlands for walkers.

  • "We had a wonderful week in Devon and we can not prise the cottage enough."

Small things that people take for granted i.e. tea/coffee etc in case you had not packed enough. A cream tea ready for us and no need to worry if you left any thing behind as they had already thought of that. The cottage was beautifully decorated and we had the place so so quite. Would we recommend this, without a doubt. I thank Gillian and Steve for a lovely few days and would love to visit again.

Steve and Gillian were there to greet us when we arrived, very welcoming and friendly and gave us a tour of the barn. Exceptionally clean and comfortable with everything you could need. We spent most of the weekend exploring Exmoor and Exmouth before coming back lighting the fire and relaxing in the hot tub. We also made use of the beautiful sights around us and walked around the river near the barn. On our last night, I asked if my husband and I could see their 9 cows, Steve was great, he took us out, told us all about them and let us feed them. Thank you so much for a very comfortable and cosy stay, we will definitely be back. Claire and James

Our hosts were so welcoming and accommodating right from the start of the break that we felt totally at home. The cottage is superbly equipped with everything that you need for your time away. We loved the hot tub and our dog loved being able to run in the field at the back of the cottage. Two named storms did nothing to dampen our experience: we will be back.

The owners Gillian and Steve were there to meet us and show us around, they left a fabulous welcome basket including a cream tea, bread, butter, milk, tea, coffee, sugar and chocolates! With the remnants of Storm Eunice they even brought us an oil lamp and candles in case of another power cut. The hot tub and wood burner were fabulous and welcomed after a drive back through the Devon lanes! Ideally situated for trips to both the north and south coasts and very peaceful. Would definitely recommend Crooked barn for a relaxing holiday.

Crooke Barn dressed for Christmas with many beautiful fairy lights all round the hot tub and barn. A very thoughtful basket of goodies including a chocolate orange and Tassimo pods for à lovely coffee. Plenty of wood for the woodburner and then there was the beautiful hot tub! The outdoor area was second to none as there was a stream at the bottom of the field with seating, our collies were so happy plus walking from the property to the local woods. Dispite the awful weather it was one of the very best and hope to come back next year.

The barn is beautifully converted, very comfortable, and has everything you need for a perfect break. The garden is beautiful, with peaceful valley views and a small river at the bottom of the field - and the hot tub is great. The location is really quiet, but still only a ten minute drive into town, and there are a good number of country pubs just a short drive away serving great food. Perfectly placed for exploring both the north and south coasts, Exmoor and Dartmoor, then returning home for a chilled night in the hot tub with a couple of glasses. Just idyllic for a couple wanting a bit of R&R - and the hosts are great, really friendly, great replying to advance questions, on hand for anything but otherwise invisible!

Two weeks before we set off Gillian got in touch giving us the opportunity to ask questions and to advise us on directions once near the nearest town. Steve took my call the day before to confirm arrival time, both seemed really nice and we couldn’t wait to begin our holiday. They called ahead to say the barn was ready and we could check in slightly early. We were met by both Gillian and Steve and shown the property respecting all Covid restrictions they remained outside, we were blown away , my husband said “ the photographs didn’t do it justice” . The barn was fitted with everything and more we could need, a lovely welcome basket and card. The outside space very private and the wonderful scenery in the garden to be enjoyed whilst in the hot tub at night. We traveled around and was always ready to get back to “ our barn “.Although closely situated near the main house it was very quiet and we’re not disturbed at all. I would highly recommend this property as a holiday destination although we’d quite like to keep it a secret

  • "Perfect does not seem to be enough to summarise our stay, but that's for us what it was."

Crooke Barn is very comfortable and very well equipped with plenty of storage space which is unusual for a rental, this meant limited trips to the supermarket. Located mid Devon makes it perfectly placed to explore the county. The photos do not fully do Crooke Barn justice on its size, that too goes for the extremely comfortable bed. A fully enclosed garden which contained our escaping dogs allowed us to relax and soak up the Devon views either from the hot tub or just sitting outside. Gillian and Steve are fantastic hosts who provided us with loads of local information, oh and a wonderful Afternoon Tea for my wife's birthday. Lots of walks straight from the door but bring your hill legs! Mobile signal is limited but with the Barn's WiFi Skype, FaceTime or WhatsApp are great alternatives. Tiverton is only a short drive away with everything thing you could need. Don't tell too many people as we want to return.

  • "Wow just wow a must stay as you won’t be disappointed, it’s like a little heavenly hideaway."

We had a lovely warm welcome from the owners Gillian and Steve on arrival, they are such a lovely couple . The barn in off the beaten track a little so all you hear are the sounds of the birds which is beautiful. Even though the owners live in the house next door(detached) your all private and they are just a text or a door knock away if any issues. The barn is completed to a high standard and full equipped with everything you would possibly need and more, they have thought of everything to make your stay perfect. It was so cosy and lovely for the sun to wake you up in the morning as it rises up through the long thin window running along the barn. You private garden and hot tub is amazing and looking over to fields and trees which you can walk down to a little stream and they have even put a “love seat” down there so you can sit and enjoy, we had a picnic and a bottle of bubbly there was just perfect. We enjoyed a lovely walk up an unmade road to the side of there house , once at the top beautiful views for miles then down the field to “Buzzards” beautiful woodland . Lots of places to visit less than an hour away, but is just ideal to stay at the barn and relax. They even provided a folder full of leaflets of places to visit . It was my birthday while we were there and we came back from our day out to balloons and a bottle of bubbly waiting for us on the door step, such a lovely surprise. I wish we could take this barn with us to stay at all the places we visit, but would definitely book again. 5 stars and more

It is off the beaten track and if you are traveling from Tiverton direction I would advise you follow the directions on the website, it seems a long way round but it's not really and the road the satnav will send you down is not suitable for cars at all, you probably struggle to get a 4x4 down that way. I honestly can't think of anything bad to say about the place, Me and my partner had a great time there and would happily stay there again.
