There is a lovely hot tub with wonderful views, we saw roe deer in one of the fields below and buzzards flying above. Greeted by the owners who texted later on to see if we needed anything.

  • "We had a wonderful time at Crook Barn in January 2024."

Steve and Gillian met us when we arrived and were incredibly friendly and welcoming, showing us how everything worked and giving us some great info on local walks. The property was immaculate and done to a very high standard; the enclosed garden was perfect for our small dog and the hot tub was one of the best we have used. We had car trouble midway through the week and Steve and Gillian couldn't have been more helpful, even offering to replenish our stock of wine (and groceries)! There really couldn't have been a better place to be without transport as we walked for miles from the door in beautiful countryside. We would definitely return to Crook Barn for another visit in the future!

The hot tub was hot on arrival and the apartment had everything one could need. Although the weather was very wet, the area was still gorgeous to explore. What a magnificent place to stay. The barn itself is very well appointed and very comfortable. The kitchen is very well laid out and lacks for nothing. The owners Steve and Gillian, met us as we arrived, and were very friendly and gave us a tour of the barn and most importantly, instructions on the use of the hot tub!. Steve popped by a day or so later to make sure everything was ok which was much appreciated. Owners have thought of everything including a very useful binder describing local area things to see and do, and a fire already made up ready to light. Up early we used the cottage to traverse up and down the Devon area, usually back by 3:00 for a dip in the hot tub and a quiet late afternoon read. The farm is fairly isolated, down a couple miles of country roads - part of the charm, but the reason not a '10'. The owners are on site and are a lovely couple/family. The facilities are dog friendly (Including bowls and towels.) Nearby to a few National Trust properties and Buzzards Woodlands for walkers.

Crooke Barn is very comfortable and very well equipped with plenty of storage space which is unusual for a rental, this meant limited trips to the supermarket. Located mid Devon makes it perfectly placed to explore the county. The photos do not fully do Crooke Barn justice on its size, that too goes for the extremely comfortable bed. A fully enclosed garden which contained our escaping dogs allowed us to relax and soak up the Devon views either from the hot tub or just sitting outside. Gillian and Steve are fantastic hosts who provided us with loads of local information, oh and a wonderful Afternoon Tea for my wife's birthday. Lots of walks straight from the door but bring your hill legs! Mobile signal is limited but with the Barn's WiFi Skype, FaceTime or WhatsApp are great alternatives. Tiverton is only a short drive away with everything thing you could need. Don't tell too many people as we want to return.

They called ahead to say the barn was ready and we could check in slightly early. We were met by both Gillian and Steve and shown the property respecting all Covid restrictions they remained outside, we were blown away , my husband said “ the photographs didn’t do it justice” . The barn was fitted with everything and more we could need, a lovely welcome basket and card. The outside space very private and the wonderful scenery in the garden to be enjoyed whilst in the hot tub at night. We traveled around and was always ready to get back to “ our barn “.Although closely situated near the main house it was very quiet and we’re not disturbed at all. We had a lovely warm welcome from the owners Gillian and Steve on arrival, they are such a lovely couple . The barn in off the beaten track a little so all you hear are the sounds of the birds which is beautiful. Even though the owners live in the house next door(detached) your all private and they are just a text or a door knock away if any issues. The barn is completed to a high standard and full equipped with everything you would possibly need and more, they have thought of everything to make your stay perfect. It was so cosy and lovely for the sun to wake you up in the morning as it rises up through the long thin window running along the barn. You private garden and hot tub is amazing and looking over to fields and trees which you can walk down to a little stream and they have even put a “love seat” down there so you can sit and enjoy, we had a picnic and a bottle of bubbly there was just perfect. We enjoyed a lovely walk up an unmade road to the side of there house , once at the top beautiful views for miles then down the field to “Buzzards” beautiful woodland . Lots of places to visit less than an hour away, but is just ideal to stay at the barn and relax. They even provided a folder full of leaflets of places to visit . It was my birthday while we were there and we came back from our day out to balloons and a bottle of bubbly waiting for us on the door step, such a lovely surprise. I wish we could take this barn with us to stay at all the places we visit, but would definitely book again. 5 stars and more

  • "Without a doubt the best place to stay in Devon, upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Gillian & Steve who took us round all the lovely facilities the barn had to offer and showed us how everything worked and answered all our questions, they were always on hand if we had any queries."

We stayed a total of three nights including staying up to see the New Year in the hot tub. With a later check out time made it super flexible for our travel plans. We also had a dog who enjoyed running around the empty enclosed field which was perfect. Our overall experience was amazing and we will definitely be back, I would 100% recommend Crooke Barn. Hope to go back soon. Cath, Nate & Ziggy x

  • "We had a lovely few nights at Crooke Barn."

The hosts have done a fantastic job with the barn, everything is done to a very high standard and it is very well equipped. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The hosts provided a welcome basket which was a lovely extra touch. We loved the woodburner, hot tub, and quiet farm location. Definitely follow the directions on the website to get there.

  • "Great little find."

Perfect for a break with our small dog especially with the private courtyard and field. The hot tub was great as was the log fire. The owners were lovely and we arrived to scones and and eggs from their chickens!

  • "This cottage was clean, spacious, warm and well equipped."

The hot tub and garden was well looked after and it was very easy to relax in. The family that live on the farm and look after the property are very helpful and friendly. It is off the beaten track and if you are traveling from Tiverton direction I would advise you follow the directions on the website, it seems a long way round but it's not really and the road the satnav will send you down is not suitable for cars at all, you probably struggle to get a 4x4 down that way. I honestly can't think of anything bad to say about the place, Me and my partner had a great time there and would happily stay there again.
