  • "If you are thinking of booking Fig Tree Cottage don’t think just do it!"

The pictures are great but it is even better when you see it. From the moment we pulled up to the moment we left we felt at home. The Cottage is finished to a very high standard and is well equipped. Ali & Dave were great, nothing too much trouble I loved chatting with them. Will be re booking for next year. Liz

  • "We spent a very enjoyable week at the Fig Tree cottage, as there was only 2 of us we had plenty of space, but it would be fine for up to 8."

The facilities are very good and bathrooms and kitchens are modern and good. The hot tub particularly late at night watching the stars was wonderful. Ali and Dave, are very friendly, and helpful, nothing seems too much for them to make your stay stress free. The area is beautiful being close to both Exmoor and Dartmoor, and the coasts both north and south are within travelling distance.

  • "We recently had the pleasure of staying for a week at Figtree Cottage, Devon during December 2020."

From the outset, the communication from Ali & Dave was on point. It was especially reassuring to receive a courtesy call from Ali prior to our stay which alleviated any queries or concerns we may have had around travelling to the property, or during our stay. The property was easily found with the directions provided by both Sykes and Ali. Upon arrival we were able to let ourselves in and get settled before Dave popped over to introduce himself and see if we needed anything. Ali & Dave reside in the premises just a stones throw away from the cottage which meant they were on hand for all our requests but far enough to ensure privacy and serenity. The cottage itself is situated away from the main road which means it's peaceful and quiet. The kitchen was already very well equipped however we did make a few requests that Ali & Dave we happy to oblige; notably the sharpening of the kitchen knives - thanks Dave! All bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean and furnished with quality fittings; the towels in the bathrooms were lush and the shower pressure is superb. The beds themselves were also very comfy. The loungeroom has an abundance of couches which ensured we weren't sitting on top of each other, as well as a fantastic fireplace which was lovely to start in the early evening and keep on until late. That said, the property is well heated anyway should we have preferred that form of heating. Without a doubt one of the main highlights was that hot tub - which we made use of everyday - and Dave ensured that the chemicals were just right throughout our entire stay; Dave would pop over in the morning to top-up and we hardly noticed he'd been and gone. We had an amazing stay at the cottage and really enjoyed what the surrounding area had to offer. Both Ali & Dave are really lovely people which just adds to making the whole experience perfect from start to finish. By the end of our stay we really didn't want to leave, however it's nice to know that we have something to look forward to upon returning again in the hopefully not too distant future.

Plenty of outdoor space in a quite location, close to Tiverton and ideal for visits to both Exmoor and Dartmoor. A lovely herb garden next to the front door. Dave our host was very welcoming and helped make our stay enjoyable whilst Ali ensured we had accurate arrival instructions.

Could not believe how Much outside garden space was allocated with this cottage, so private, so peaceful. The hot tub was a fabulous addition totally private and kept extremely clean and water changed between guests. The kitchen and conservatory dining area was perfect with amble seating, great kitchen appliances with everything you need and more. The living area was fabulous with tv with internet especially perfect for kids. Bathrooms and bedrooms spacious and tastefully decorated. Our entire stay was fabulous and I would recommend fig tree cottage to anyone wanting an amazing cottage stay within beautiful surroundings and easy accessibility to fabulous local tourism spots.

  • "The photos and description do not do this cottage justice !"

The cottage is beautiful. We could not fault it. The location is great for exploring Devon. Our group was made up of 2 families, a family of 3 and a family of 4 and there was more than adequate room for all of us. The hot tub was of course an amazing bonus ! The owners contacted us a week before with all relevant information and messaged us on the day to say when our cottage was ready. The owners Dave and Ali were so friendly, and were on hand if we needed anything. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

  • "This is a gem of a cottage and we really enjoyed a family week here in July."

Dave and Ali could not be better hosts. They were super helpful and dropped in a few times to deliver some home made goodies and check that everything was ok. The hot tub was a real bonus and the kids loved this at the end of a busy day out. The only minor thing would be that a tumble drier would be useful for any days where the sun doesn’t shine. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

  • "Six of us visited Fig Tree Cottage 11-18 July 2020."

The whole experience with the owners was excellent, from the pre-visit phone call and email regarding Covid19 safet measures put in place, to checking in on us throughout our visit, but not in a manner that took away our privacy. Their efforts were exceptional, and they really did enhance the experience, in terms of making sure that we had everything we needed - plus rhubarb and courgettes from their garden! Everything was of a high standard, from the comfortable beds to the hot tub under the stars (we had great weather) and the welcome pack of necessities (tea/coffee/milk) plus little extras like scones and clotted cream. We adored the location - so peaceful, and with a privacy that 'open views' rarely allows - as we were not overlooked by anyone. We rarely visits a place twice, but this may prove to the be the exception, especially as it was intended to coincide with a graduation that didn't take place, and we hope will happen in 2021.

A family get together for my dads birthday. The accommodation is homely and lots of thought has been put into it. We had a lovely welcome pack of scones and jam and cream and bread, butter and milk. The fire was lit and the radio was on. So welcoming. Dave even came and helped us to unload the car. The location is only 3 miles from local shops and fuel station. It’s best to have a car. Not much to walk to close by, though I believe there was a pub within a mile. We did all our own food and drink so didn’t really need to find pub or restaurant. Hot tub was lovely. Strongly recommend.
