It is very well equipped with everything you could need. The garden was great for the dog. The welcome pack was much appreciated too. Would highly recommend.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Ohope Barn, very relaxing, such a peaceful place."

Ringmore was a lovely little village, everyone we met was so friendly, Ohope barn had everything we needed, the garden was perfect for our dog. We were so lucky with the weather too. A short walk to the coast which was lovely, the scenery was beautiful. I hope we will return one day but there is so much more if Devon to explore, would definitely recommend.

  • "We had a fabulous week at Ohope Barn."

Very well equipped, comfortable with wonderful views from the recently landscaped garden. Lots of fabulous walks across fields and up and down hills which our dog loved. Especially the one to the beautiful, secluded Ayrmer Cove which is perfect for swimming. The local pub, Journeys Inn is a stone throw away and is an historic gem serving delicious food. 10/10.

  • "Ohope barn was amazing: very comfortable and with everything we needed."

Welcome basket was very tasty and we were very grateful. On the negative side; there was no privacy in the garden at all. Since the garden has been landscaped ( photo is out of date on website) it is overlooked from every side and very open. During last weeks heatwave we spent a lot of time indoors rather than out as we didn’t want to sit watching our neighbours in their garden. Unfortunately the velux windows do not open and the blinds on them do not shut: this led to the inside being extremely hot ( and we were unable to let out the wasps, flies and a hornet that were trying to escape via the velux windows .) I found 2 gardeners in the garden one morning when I glanced outside: they did apologise for not knocking but it was a bit of a shock. Overall we did have a great time, but it is an expensive property and I would have appreciated the listing being more accurate.

  • "An excellent location - a charming village in a short walk to one dog-friendly beach and to a few more nearby."

The property is maintained to a high standard. The only problem we had was with the loud neighbours next door who partied late - once they have gone, it was a bliss!

The property is very well equipped, clean, comfortable and convenient for the beach. The only small issue is the squeaky floor boards

  • "Very beautiful property with a lovely garden out back."

Spacious with pretty much everything you could need there, and a great kitchen. This property is baby/toddler friendly with a stairgate and high chair, however the creaky floor and the bedrooms being underneath is very difficult with sleeping children. Also the village is very quiet and hilly, so you have to drive pretty much everywhere. Would definitely recommend it to those without children though who are looking for a peaceful break. The Journeys end inn also had lovely food.

  • "The cottage had been cleaned on 9th Dec we arrived on the 30th so it didn’t feel fresh."

On arrival there wasn’t any logs for the fire a big disappointment being as it was New Year and the absence of a local shop. A major issue for me and the group was the absence of a folder containing guidance and instructions. This should be a mandatory informative guide for local shops, restaurants, local doctor & vet. Also guide to the operation of the heating system, WIFI password connection etc. we didn’t find the WiFi Hub until day two before we could find the access password. Also the cottage is misrepresented having undergone an extensive landscaping of the back garden and removed debris left in a large skip occupying the allocated car parking at the front of the property. This wasn’t removed while we were at the property and caused local residents to express concerns over occupying car park space that wasn’t allocated to the property. Overall a disappointing stay.

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry that your welcome was not as it should have been. Pebbles of Salcombe, who manage the property, had taken the information folder away to update & had omitted to bring it back to the barn. This why you struggled to access the WiFi code & other information. Pebbles of Salcombe have been managing Ohope Barn for many years now and this is the first time that this has happened. They have looked at their processes to ensure that this does not happen again. We do advise, that if guests encounter a problem such as this, that they contact the management company, Pebbles of Salcombe. In this instance, had you contacted either Sykes, or Pebbles of Salcombe, the WiFi code could have been given over the phone (via our landline) & the Information folder could have been brought over. The barn had indeed been cleaned on 9/12/22, as it had not had guests in it for a few weeks during our garden renovation project. It had however also been cleaned within 48 hours of your arrival. We are sorry that the skip from our garden project was sitting in one of the allocated parking spaces. The skip company had attempted to collect it before Christmas, but the truck had to turn around at St Ann’s Chapel, as the road was closed at that time. Thankfully this skip has now been removed. As you say, the back garden has been relandscaped and a new patio has been laid. We have newly planted the beds This has been a large renovation project to improve the garden for our guests. We do hope that future guests enjoy the garden, with its views down the valley to the sea. Property Owner

  • "Amazing place set in a pretty, quiet village with a local pub - what's not to like!"

Within easy reach of local beaches and villages. The enclosed back garden was a bonus as we had two dogs and two young children with us. Clean and well equipped, comfortable beds and enough showers/toilets/bath for the capacity of the house. A fitted stair gate at the top of the lounge stairs would have been a good addition to keep our young toddler extra safe.

  • "We were absolutely delighted with OHope Barn - it more than reached our expectations in every way."

The level of comfort and quantity of products provided for us was amazing. Ringmore village is beautiful with all the thatched cottages and the pub - well that was really special. Our grandson had his 18th birthday there and we had a private room and amazing food. Bigbury-on-Sea the local beach is just stunning. We had a fantastic holiday in a beautiful barn and we will return.

Thank you very much for your kind review. We are so pleased that had such a lovely week at Ohope Barn. We were so pleased to hear that your grandson had a fab 18th birthday celebration at the village pub, the Journey's End.. This pub won Gold in Taste of the West 2022. This is not at all surprising, as the chef is very talented. You are most welcome to return any time! Property Owner

  • "The property is superbly laid out for a holiday home and is very generously equipped with a beautiful open plan kitchen- diner and SKY TV in the living room area."

The garden is lovely with views over the cove and a BBQ area. Ringmore is a picture postcard village and a superb location to explore the area with the coastal path being only 3/4 mile away and the Journeys End pub comes highly recommended. The only reason why I cannot give the property the full five stars is due to the flooring. Three of the four bedrooms are downstairs, one is below the living room area and another below the upstairs bedroom. The whole upper floor is floored with oak flooring which is prefect for the kitchen diner area but is very noisy for the bedrooms below. If the living room and upper bedroom were carpeted or had rugs, the accuostics below would be much improved.

Talking in the kitchen , lounge area echos around the house . For quite an expensive large holiday home for 8 people , I suggest providing more than 1 television . Decoration starting to look tired. You also need to cut the vegitation around the BBQ as we nearly had a bush fire

  • "The property was beautiful, very clean and tidy."

Great to be able to stay with family as there is so much space. Unfortunately for eight people staying there wasn't enough hot water for all to shower. Some of the beds were really hard too. Seeing as it was only a two night stay it wasn't all that bad.

Thank you for saying how spacious & beautiful you found the barn. It's a shame that you had a problem with the hot water. This is surprising, as in the more than 10 years that we have been letting the barn, no-one has ever found this to be an issue. The hot water is housed in a large pressurised tank & many people have commented on how effective they have found this system to be. We will ask Pebbles, the Management Team, to look into this. As regards the mattresses, all are recently purchased & of medium firmness. Property Owner

Too many cobwebs on walls and bed headboard, also under bed not hovered for ages. I shouldn't be doing the cleaning on arrival. Having said that we had an absolutely fantastic holiday dispite the weather's best efforts in the first week. Top notch house in a beautiful village. Look forward to a return visit.

About the location

RINGMORE

Bigbury-on-Sea 3 miles; Kingsbridge 7 miles; Salcombe 11 miles; Plymouth 15.5 miles.

Ringmore is a small village in Devon, in the South Devon AONB, one mile from the secluded beach and stunning cliffs of Bigbury Bay.
The Saxon church of All Hallows stands majestically over this quintessentially English village. Ringmore is a conservation village with thatched cottages, a peaceful rural pace of life & an award winning pub, the Journey's End Inn serving cask ales, local produce and a friendly welcome. A comprehensively stocked shop and Post Office is located in St Anne's Chapel, a short drive away and they are happy to deliver. Three different paths lead down to Ayrmer Cove from the village, and connect with the South West Coast Path. Footpaths lead to Challaborough Bay and to the golden sandy beaches of Bigbury-on-Sea, from which Burgh Island is reached by the famous Sea Tractor. Bigbury-on-Sea beach is ideal for family holidays. Everyone is sure to marvel at the huge expanse of sand, enjoy exploring the rock pools, or sample the varied watersports available to the more active visitors. If you want to try something different from the body boarding or surfing, then windsurfing and kite-surfing are gaining popularity here, with hire facilities located right on the beach. For peace of mind, there are lifeguards present at Bigbury-on-Sea’s Blue Flag beach from May to September, and a fabulous café specialising in selling organic and local food; whose surf ‘n’ turf is one of the best in the area. A few miles from Ringmore are plenty of delightful South Hams villages, coastal beauty spots and the traditional English market town of Kingbridge on the estuary.
