  • "The farm house was everything we wanted; quiet, secluded, warm, cosy and well maintained."

Lovely log burner, big kitchen, warm shower, lots to do in the local area, and lots of info at the cottage for walks and places to visit. We will be back next year for more firework avoidance for our aging Cockapoo.

  • "The cottage and location were superb, we really enjoyed our stay and plan to return."

It is perfect for couples with young children as it has a big garden and woods all around for them to explore, and is removed from the main road.

  • "A great place to stay with young adult daughters and dog."

Beautiful woods to walk through on your doorstep and lots of wonderful places to discover on Exmoor and at the coast. We were last here six years ago and loved our holiday this time as much as we did then.

  • "Hayden Cottage met our expectations because we have stayed there many summers."

We know what to expect and love this cottage its space and location. So peaceful.

    Mr PerryJun 2021

  • "A delightful little cottage to get away from it all whilst also being just a short drive from Dunster and everything the village has to offer; I've already recommended the cottage to friends and family."

Having no TV or mobile phone reception is a massive benefit as is the enormous wood burning stove with gratis logs. A superb location and ideal for exploring Exmoor and its environs. Certainly I'll book the next trip via Helpful Holidays as there is an excellent choice of properties.

  • "Really comfortable cottage with everything you need."

No TV but what a joy didn't miss it at all! Loved the telephone box! Even though it's May still had a few fires in the evening and spent most of time we were at the cottage in the kitchen/dining room as so very cosy. The garden is really lovely and can imagine if you have children ot would be an absolute joy for them to play in.

  • "Superb location."

Far enough away to feel isolated, close enough to all amenities Porlock / Minehead. Property was spacious , comfortable and very homely. Lots of outside space for dog to wander around in safely.

  • "The house was a beautiful location and we loved it."

However on arrival there was a very strong smell of oil which made everything taste of oil and was very unpleasant for 2 days and probably not good for the health. We couldn't spend time relaxing downstairs and eating was not an option unless we wanted to taste anything other than oil. Ironically I had asked for the aroma sticks to be removed as we have an extremely sensitive sense of smell. Angie Brown was very helpful in getting out an engineer within the evening of the second day of our stay. The smell started to subside after that but it was a while before it disappeared although we could sometimes smell it when we returned after a day out. I appreciate that these things happen but I understand that this had been known about for 2 weeks and yet we still had to get an engineer out who spent at least an hour on it. For such a lovely place this didn't give us a good start. The surroundings were lovely and generally peaceful. We would come again if there was no repeat of the oil leak.

  • "We had a excellent break at Heyden Cottage."

If you're looking for a low tech holiday where there's no TV and limited internet then this is for you either for walking or just relaxing. There are woods on the doorstep and there is numerous walks to be had direct from the cottage no driving needed except for shopping. we walked into Minehead, Dunster etc no problem The orchard is ideal for the dogs to run around in and is fully enclosed and gated also the small courtyard is enclosed as well. The Log burner and supply of wood is a nice to have after long walk . We will certainly add this as one of our favourite holidays and will look to visit again.

  • "Beautiful cottage very secluded but not far from main road to head off out and about."

Noise minimal from the road Although had been a wi if problem this was working when we arrived. We needed to be in the lounge for wi if to work but as we were surrounded by trees it was expected.Angie very helpful and did not bother us during our visit.Wonderful for our dogs to go straight out from the cottage for walks in the woods. This is a requirement for us and not something we always get. This is a cottage we would highly recommend.

The property

On the edge of a large and beautiful wood, Heyden Cottage is a wonderful moorland Exmoor cottage found at the end of its own private uneven drive.

With fabulous walks and mountain bike trails from the door and views across moorland from most windows it sits in a magical spot, great for stargazing.

Inside there's a huge heart-of-the-house kitchen with dining table/chairs and a sofa plus wood burning stove to relax in front of after a hard day exploring the hills.

There is also a cosy sitting room with an open fire (please note there is no TV at this property) and also a ground floor WC and shower room.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms, a double, twin and a single plus another bathroom with separate shower.

Outside a suntrap courtyard with table/chairs and beyond the woodland and orchard to discover.

From this unique base you can explore the very best of Exmoor; visit the hilltop castle of Dunster, take a trip to the idyllic National Trust village of Selworthy and explore the coastal village of Porlock.

The resort town of Minehead is just 1 and a half miles away and is also worth a visit if you can drag yourself away from such a tranquil base.
