  • "A fantastic holiday home in an amazing location What a wonderful week we had at Houndbeare, such a beautiful property in a tranquil place."

Sarah was there to greet us and show us round. A beautiful homemade cheesecake and bottle of wine in the fridge on our arrival which was a lovely gesture. Sarah is so helpful giving advice to us on places to visit etc. nothing was too much trouble for her. The accommodation was well equipped and spotlessly clean. We all loved the hot tub especially our 2 year old grandson who is still talking about his ‘holiday home’. The views from the garden made our BBQ so memorable. Thank you for a wonderful holiday. We hope to return

Owner Sarah was waiting for us as we arrived. Informative and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The barn was extemely well maintained and clean. We all loved the pool table and the hot-tub. The kitchen had everything you could possibly want or need for a self-catering holiday. We were lucky enough to also benefit from Sarah's cheesecake, warm scones (cream& jam) and a bottle of wine. Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would not hesitate to recommend this property. We hope to visit again!

  • "We had a fabulous stay in a spotlessly clean Houndbeare Barn."

Sarah the owner was very friendly and even offered us homebaked scones on arrival. The pool table and hot tub were fun. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was fully equipped. We enjoyed the sound system and smart tv which allowed us to watch movies in the evening. Walks from the door ending at the Cridford Arms were enjoyed by all. We enjoyed day trips to Paignton Zoo and Teignmouth. We would love to stay again in the future. The wifi works very well, it does drop out every now and again but is good enough to use for work if needed or to watch Netflix /amazon if you have subscriptions to them. The property is warm and feels very private.

  • "We have just returned from a week away at Houndbeare Barn and what a lovely week it has been."

On arrival we were greeted and showed around both the property and grounds by Sarah. The barn was festively decorated for the Christmas season and the home baked goodies were a very welcoming touch. Sarah was absolutely lovely and always on hand to offer advice on things to do and places to visit, She made us feel like nothing was too much trouble and made us feel like part of the family. The barn is very bright, specious and beautifully decorated/furnished. The kitchen is well equipped and it is always great to have wifi when you have children. The only improvement we would suggest would be for the master bedroom to have a king size bed. Gary being 6ft 2 struggled to sleep in the bed upstairs and ended up sleeping in one of the bedrooms downstairs by himself. Thank you Sarah & Nigel for a wonderful stay.

Sarah has thought of every element when it comes to what may be needed during the holiday and I have never stayed somewhere so well equipped even down to the children friendly cutlery. Myself and my friends thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful break, the village pub is also highly recommended as are the local walks and the cottage grounds are no doubt beautiful in the summer (as well as during autumn) We will definitely be booking here again whether that with my friends or with my own children, we loved it and thank you.

  • "What a wonderful place to stay."

We have been made to feel so welcome and at home by the owners. This place easily accommodates 8 plus people. It has a beautiful mezzanine floor bedroom which has a large king bedroom, with an ensuite and also a pull out sofa bed if required, plus two further double rooms downstairs with another shower room, huge TV corner sofa and a fire for the cooler evenings. I stayed here with my two boys, a 10yr old and a 20month old. They provided a travel cot, high chair and baby bath for our convenience which was amazing. The kitchen has everything you need and the dining table turns into a pool table!! Fantastic!! The hot tub was wonderful and the outside seating was huge and comfortable. There is a garden to use with a tree swing with amazing views and a seated area with a BBQ if you need it, plus a chiminea for when you want to stay out and take in the views into the late evening. There is a wonderful brook behind the barn which is a 10 minute wander down the hill and through a small wood....my boys loved throwing stones into the stream. This place was a perfect peaceful base out of the hussle and bustle of the town, but also within quick reach so so many tourist attractions. There is a play park a maximum 5 minute walk at the end of the road. Shop is 10 minute drive maximum. Pub is a 7 minute walk. You have to stay here!!! I can't fault it!!
