  • "Damaged banister rail."

Could be dangerous. Reported to contact and emailed us back to say a joiner would repair it on Saturday. Satisfied with that but is obviously an ongoing problem which is a hazard. Cottage is lovely apart from the bathroom is very small not helped by positioning of cupboard over washbasin which makes it very difficult to get your head in to clean your teeth. A flat mirror would solve the problem. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the tide ebb and flow and the seabirds. Quite convenient for our dog as the green is only a few yards from the cottage.

  • "Ideal location for us, within walking distances of a beach, pubs, and the boat to Plymouth."

Lovely cottage with fabulous views of the Lake Hooe. We had wonderful weather and really enjoyed our stay. No issues at all with the cottage, very clean and comfortable, I am sure we will be back again soon.

  • "Absolutely lovely place to stay and a good outlook with a great view of the lake, comfortable bed overlooking the lake, well equipped kitchen and again a great view of the lake from the sitting room and outdoor balcony, loved it."

Also easy access to Plymouth from Mount batten ferry, nearby beaches and walks were a pleasure to experience. The only negative is the same as previous comments, please leave instructions for the oven, not a clue how it works!! Also the sink in the bathroom is practically unusable, I think get rid of the overhead cupboard and put in a useable size sink. Having said that it was a pleasure to stay and would highly recommend.

Pub nearby serving food,Pub had been closed opened the week we arrived,no food available. No instuctions for the cooker.problem with the tv rang one of the numbers provided no help whatsoever.bathroom sink unusable,it would seem to be just aesthetic as the cupboard above too close to the sink. The nearest eatery was approx 3/4 of a mile away. There is a small sign hanging on the stair bannister No dogs allowed upstairs unfortunately my dog cannot read perhaps a stair gate would have better. In our opinion Sykes should re-assess the cottage for future clients. We have used Sykes in the past and feel very dissapointed

  • "Had a great week in this Lovely property."

Very clean and comfortable. Well equipped. A great base for exploring the area or just chilling on the decking watching the paddle boarding or kayaking. Yes the bathroom is a bit small but the shower was great. We found the stairs a little steep but we’re used to a bungalow. Parked the car at the small roundabout behind the Royal Oak most days with no problem. Shop,Chinese takeaway and Indian restaurant just minutes away. The food at the Indian was amazing. Would highly recommend a stay at 2 Beach cottage.

  • "We had an enjoyable week at Beach Cottage."

The house is modern and clean and it very lovely to have the doors open out onto the decking and to sit and look out at the water and watch the activities going on on the lake. The bathroom is very small, as mentioned in other reviews, but it is clean and modern and usable. We had no issues with noise from the nearby pub. Parking was not an issue for us. There was only 1 day that we couldn't get parked at the back of the property. We had an issue with the oven in the property & unfortunately there was no instructions in the visitors folder so we ended up having to find a manual on the internet. Once we had released it from safe mode using Youtube we then discovered that it was actually faulty. The owner arranged for repairs but we were without a cooker for our whole weeks stay, which wasn't ideal when you are self-catering! The property would benefit from having a more 'personalised' visitor manual and a clothes airer of some kind but these are minor things. There are some nice walks from the property and the Clovelly Bay Inn is most definitely worth a visit. The food is the best we have had anywhere! The boat taxi to Plymouth is a good service and there are some nice food places and shopping in Plymouth itself. All in all, an enjoyable week.

  • "We really enjoyed our week in Beach Cottage."

The property was lovely with the highlight being the uninterrupted and ever-changing views of tidal Hooe Lake right next to our deck. The area has a lovely walk through woods right next to it, which our dog loved, and the ferry to Plymouth was a short walk away. The only reason it’s not a 5-star review is that the bathroom is ultra compact! We only needed to contact the owner once, for a corkscrew, and he arranged for one to be dropped off promptly, which was excellent.

Everything was very clean. And we especially appreciated being warm! The property was compact with few radiators but we we were always lovely and warm. More booklets on the appliances would be helpful, we struggled with the oven on the first night! Bathroom is small but shower was good. We enjoyed our stay!

  • "A lovely cottage, perfect for a lovely relaxing break."

Great walking along the Sw coastal path. Only a short walk to tha Mount Batten water taxi into Plymouth. Also short walks to local pubs that do great food. A trip out to Tavistock is recommended especially on Goose fare day. You can always just sit on the balcony of the cottage and enjoy the sunshine while the Kingfisher busy themselves catching fish alongside all the other wildlife. A great place to stay.

Otherwise, the cottage was excellent it had everything you could posssibly need for a weeks holiday and was in a great location with good views over the lake.

  • "Lovely well-equipped cottage, comfortable, the views from the decking were great over the waters, it was south facing so got the sun in the afternoon and evening."

Parking was not a problem as more of a residential area, easily parked across the green. The location was on the coastal path so great for walking and exploring. Great pubs in walking distance, we would recommend the Clovelly Bay Inn. Also got the river taxi over to Plymouth central, visit to the Gin Distillery was great value and interesting as well as Royal William Yard. The only recommendation for the owner is to have a customer review book as we always find useful to read where other visitors have been to when not familiar with the area. If you are a National Trust Member, many places to visit nearby. Lots to do and see, everything exceeded our expectations.

The location is great and the view absolutely fab - couldn’t beat sitting on the terrace in the sun!! If I’m being picky a full size ironing board would have been nice as would a full length mirror in the single bedroom. The owner contacted me on Sunday to see if everything was ok and sent someone round to fix the ‘sticky’ bathroom door without me having to mention it which was much appreciated. A lovely, lovely week!!

Spotlessly clean, comfy bed.and fab kitchen. Yes the bathroom is a tad small but ok for a couple weeks. Parking is easy, you either park 20 paces to your left near the roundabout or 40 paces to your right. There is a local shop, Indian and a Chinese restaurant 3 mins walk. The pub is 20 seconds from the door but you dont hear anything as there is a small alley way and a couple houses in-between. Good pub, welcoming and good beer.

  • "The property was very well designed and equipped."

The presentation of the property by the cleaner was spotless. living in the midlands about as far away from the sea as possible it was lovely to be able to look out as the tide made it’s way in and out twice a day. Parking by the roundabout was very tight due to abandoned vehicles. Future visitors should be aware that parking in the centre of Plymouth is an expensive hobby. At the other end of the park is a bus stop and the no. 2 takes you into the centre. Enjoy.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at 2 Beach Cottage."

The property was very well presented and contained everything we needed for our stay. No difficulty parking nearby a as was suggested, the roundabout outside seemed to be an informal car park to all. The friendly correspondence I had with the owners after our stay (regarding the accidentally kidnap of one of the towels and ice block!) further reinforced my view of this being a great place to stay. My only suggestion by way of improvement was that the vertical blinds in the main bedroom should be replaced - it was missing a few sections creating a gap at one end, plus this style of blind doesn’t adequately block the light from the nearby street lighting at night.

  • "I stayed at 2 Beach cottage for 2 weeks and I loved every minute of it, it has everything needed for a wonderful stay."

My only suggestion would be perhaps a little clothes airer to dry washing inside (if raining) and somewhere to hook the outside washing line. I don't usually do washing while away but stayed longer than expected to be with my daughter so used the washing machine lots. But the cottage itself is stunning, close to everything and only 15 minutes drive to Plymouth city centre. We will definitely be coming back

Great also for exploring the beautiful Devon beaches. There are a few nice coffee shops close by and a local pub - pretty much everything we needed. Would highly recommend.
