  • "Bumble bee retreat was exactly that."

The location was fabulous and had fantastic views. Good location to see Dorset and vist many attractions, ideal base for visiting picturesque villages and walks on the coast. The hosts, Sue and Les were lovely. Sue had prepared a welcome pack for us which was well received, she had also left treats for the dog. Les showed us around the cottage and gave us ideas on where we could visit. The property was spotlessly clean modern inside and had everything you needed. I would definitely recommend this property.

  • "Disappointed."

... no dish washer, no welcome pack, plastic plants unsuitable in view of covid restrictions. Bed .... uncomfortable and unsuitable as it is placed under window with drafts etc. Bathroom and shower very adequate, however no spare toilet roll. Enjoyed very much the view from the property and had the weather been warm the patio would prove to be used at every opportunity. Feedback is for Sykes to react to and perhaps provide feedback to their host/owners.

  • "This was a lovely property."

Very light and airy, with a wonderful view across the countryside. Very nice garden with BBQ available. Kitchen equipment more than adequate for cooking a decent meal as restaurants not open due to lockdown. Sue & Les were very welcoming. We usually stay in hotels but found that this option was far more relaxing to come back to after a day exploring the area. Hope to be back

The accommodation was new and fitted to a high standard with underfloor heating and we would recommend it as an excellent place to stay.

Lovely well equipped kitchen, and a fantastic shower with views of a blue sky (if you're lucky). Would highly recommend, and I am certain we will be returning for another stay here.

I would really recommend staying here, it is a homely place and very relaxing. The hosts are very friendly, welcoming and very helpful. Making sure you have all that you need, and any information you need about walks is provided. Which was amazing, being provided with a little map and information on great walks near by.

Sue and Les our hosts were friendly and helpful advising on walks in the area etc. We were their first visitors to the cottage and they were keen to know from us if there were any things they could improve on as they want to make sure everyone has a great holiday. The coast was a short drive away with lots of lovely bays and villages to visit. Beer was a favourite with us and we liked Seaport very much. The coastal seapath is a great way to see the glorious scenery around this area. Highly recommended

Tytherleigh is a small village in Devon, on the Fosse Way Roman Road, very close to the borders of Somerset and Dorset, which it actually belonged to until the late 1800s. The village name was first recorded in the mid-12th century and is derived from an Old English phrase meaning ‘thin’ or ‘tender woodland’. Tytherleigh is now an excellent base for walkers, cyclists and horse riders exploring the West Country, with an excellent, dog-friendly pub serving delicious food. It is a short walk from a village shop and pub in Chardstock, and an easy drive to the popular towns of Axminster and Chard. Each have their own museum and Heritage Centres, interesting shops and wonderful inns serving good food and scrumptious local cider. If you ever doubted the beauty and majesty of this wonderful corner of England, please note that The Blackdown Hills, East Devon, and Dorset AONBs are all just stone’s throw away! You can be sure of picturesque picnic spots and mesmerising country vistas in every direction you look. The impressive Jurassic Coast is also a short drive away to the south, where you can scour the shoreline for fossils at Lyme Regis. An excellent base for friends and families holidaying in Devon.
