The only thing that I would say about the property it needs a bit of a update and windows look like they hadn’t been cleaned in a while. Property Owner Reviewed by JasonJan 2022 "Great location and it definitely had the wow factor when we arrived." It felt very spacious and we were a party of 5 adults over 70 and 2 over 40 and accommodated all our needs including enough kitchen equipment to cook a Sunday Roast! Great that there was private parking for 2 cars and the owner was very responsive when sorting out the pool and this was checked twice whilst we were there (stayed a week). Property was clean although also given details of the cleaning company if we weren’t satisfied which we didn’t need to use. Overall a great property for socialising as well as space to take time out if needed. Reviewed by DawnSep 2021 "Fabulous view." Very spacious accommodation. Comfortable. Good pool and gym. To be picky not everything works but there is so much in the place it hardly matters. Great family holiday home close to shops, restaurants and transport. Reviewed by RogerSep 2021 "Great communication from Sykes throughout the process." The Boathouse was in an excellent location. The large kitchen was extremely well equipped. We were four generations, aged from 1-84 years. As was made clear in the description, the property is not ideal for toddlers but we managed without incident. We also hired the pool, which gave us access to a second shower, which was important with so many of us. There are two bathrooms, but only one boasts a shower. The Boathouse is spacious. The snooker table provided hours of fun. The views from every room are spectacular. It was a great choice for our family holiday. Reviewed by DebbieAug 2021 "Due to covid our biannual Christmas get together was cancelled and we rearranged a summer family holiday at byte boathouse at the end of July." Previous reviews I feel are very unfair. Such a great house with loads of space; big bedrooms, 2 massive balconies with views from every room up and down the river, an enormous split level open plan lounge with 3 huge settees, a pool table and massive dining table that seats 11 comfortably. The pool and sauna were a definite must and worth booking and kept the children happy when the weather let us down, for keen gym users the equipment is limited and unusable. however, I whole heartedly recommend this property, it is quirky in places and has an 80’s vibe but we loved the feel of the place it was clean and spotless and we will definitely rebook. Reviewed by Pat and JohnJul 2021 "The Bight boathouse was perfect for our group which included 2 babies and 2 under 5s." We were a bit apprehensive due to some bad recent reviews and while the property is a little tired in place it is certainly not deserving of some of the reviews on here. The pool was a godsend, (definitely book that, you won’t regret it) as was the pool table and sky TV (including sports) and the living area is incredibly spacious. The only issue is the bathroom situation which isn’t ideal given that one is en-suite and can’t be shared with the room next to it without having to go in the actual room (there is no door between the room the bathroom is in and the bathroom itself so you can’t really share it at nighttime if someone is in bed) and there is only one other bathroom (which is the smaller, less well equipped of the two). The whole place could do with a few hundred hundred K chucked at it and then it would be off the charts amazing. The views are something else and the location perfect. Reviewed by CharlieJun 2021 "Location excellent for walking into centre of Dartmouth & harbour." Wonderful views. Property as expected. Reviewed by SusanMay 2021 "Client thought the location of the property is fantastic but the property is just very tired and there were lots of issues that the client had and didn't have the time to fill in the snag list as it would have taken a while to do so." Client had to hoover when they 1st arrived as the floors were filthy and they have a 7 month old who likes to crawl on the floor. Client is not best pleased to be honest. This was a £1643.00 fee for the 7 nights and the property should have been in better condition, they have sent me loads of photos as well this is what they have said: Both vacuum cleaners were full and didn’t work well anyway. The doors didn’t close properly and there was a huge draft. No battery in the fire alarm. The bidet drain was broken and water was still in it. The shower tray wouldn’t drain quickly. The glass was blown. But all the windows were filthy as well. Cobwebs everywhere. And a leak on the balcony. Oh, I had to ask for a bbq even though it was advertised. The radiators needed bleeding and weren’t heating up all the way so was cold Reviewed by LynnMay 2021 "Dartmouth is a beautiful town and an excellent place to explore." At Bight Boathouse we all loved having our own pool. The sauna got a lot of use, as did the snooker table. Faster broadband would have been nice. The location means it has wonderful views of the River Dart. We would all go again! Reviewed by KatyOct 2020 "A spacious house which was lovely and clean upon arrival." A perfect location for walking into the town and uniquely has parking which is important in Dartmouth. Great views of the River Dart. The house's décor is amusingly outdated but good for children as nothing inside of any value or can easily be broken. Many of the machines by the pool need removing as they do not work. Reviewed by CeliaOct 2020 "Lovely setting, well positioned just a very short walk from the town centre." The house had lots of space with great facilities to entertain everyone. Well equipped kitchen. Only downside is that for such a large place it has limited bathroom facilities on the two floors. Pool area is a fantastic amenity, and good off-road parking for two cars which is definitely a bonus in Dartmouth’s picturesque but narrow streets. Reviewed by PhilipSep 2020 "Although the property was amazing and beautiful views just one bathroom for three bedrooms was inadequate." Also the furnishings very dated but this does not reflect on our enjoyable holiday experience. Regards Gary Marshall. Reviewed by GarySep 2020 "There were many positives about this property, space, quirkiness, position." Sadly though it feels barely cared for. Pots full of weeds, tatty odd cutlery, threadbare carpets, dusty and unclean in corners, under furniture. My main issue was that we were looking forward to using a jacuzzi which was out of order. These things happen, I accept that, but when I told the owner of my disappointment his answer was “noted”. He simply did not care. He did say it would be repaired however this did not happen. There are only a few properties in this area that accommodate the numbers we wanted but this one I will not be booking in the future.
