What marred our holiday was the none return of our £250 even though the cottage had been left in an excellent state. I emailed the owner twice to no avail with no reply given. Sykes then phoned her seven days after we returned home but she didn’t answer. Sykes finally got through on the Monday when the excuse was she forgot!!! Make your own minds up.

These guests have received the full refund of the £250. There was a delay as most guests communicate directly with me via text and phone. Most guests are refunded on the Monday after they vacate the cottage. Property Owner

Looked very small from the outside until you walked in. Rooms were decorated to a high standard and kitchen was very well equipped. Will definitely be booking again, close to beach and pubs a stone throw away. Only issues were people parking right out side the property who never had permits and people using your bins outside to dump there takeaways in. Carpet on the 1st floor landing had stains on there and a couple more mirrors

The standard of cleaning was very high with the kitchen being well equipped to provide for one’s every needs. Marvellous extra large bath ideal to relax in after a long day of exploring. It is so close to all amenities with the town having a great variety of venues to eat and drink plus lots of entertainment on hand in the various pubs. But the icing on the cake for us was that our dogs had everything that they wanted and settled within 15 minutes of arriving plus the owners were very thoughtful providing extra dog bowls and throws. Congratulations to the owners for making our holiday so enjoyable and we will be back.

The facilities were very good, kitchen very well equipped, nice bathrooms etc. The taps to the 1st floor bathroom were poorly placed on the handbasin and the shower hand attachment ‘fierce’, but nice bathrooms. The bed pillows a little flat, and the bed linen felt a little worn but were clean and well present. To the front of the property a little disappointing - rather unkept, it wouldn’t take much to improve and give a little curb appeal. The Sofa’s a tad uncomfortable, but overall, the property is well equipped, ideally located for the lovely town of Watchet, ideal for walkers and getting to Minehead, Taunton to name a few. We enjoyed our stay at #30. Thank you

I WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS PLACE UNTIL THE ABOVE COMMENTS ARE ADDRESSED AS WE HAVE BEEN TO WATCHET WE KNEW WHERE TO GO LOCALLY FOR PUBS ETC BUT FOR OTHERS IT IS NOT ADVISABLE..

The property is designed for dog friendly guests with the decor reflecting the ability to keep the house clean and fresh. The house is over three floors it isn’t ideal for people with mobility problems. Because the house has 4 double bedrooms. Sykes market the property for 8 guests. Downstairs can be a bit snug if there are 8 adults staying in the property. The lounge seating can be moved around to suit yourselves. There is no toaster as these are difficult to keep clean and hygienic. The oven does have a grill. Guests welcome to bring their own toaster . It’s sad that these guests didn’t enjoy their stay at 30 West Street. Many other guests have stayed, loved and enjoyed the house. Property Owner

  • "A brilliant location for my first visit to Somerset!"

Although small, Watchet has the all the facilities one could wish, as well as access to the steam train and coastal explorer buses - a real hidden gem! West Street is a 5 minute walk from the harbour, and the on-site parking was a real bonus. I had a few problems with the top floor shower, which drained very slowly and the right hand side of the cooker didn't seem to work (cooking is not really my thing so this could well just have been me!) Also I couldn't find the blue bag for recycling plastic so took it home with me! (Previous occupants seemed to have left mixed recycling in the top garden instead of in the clearly labelled crates to the side of the property, as a result this could do with a bit of a tidy) Generally however West St. was very well provisioned with some interesting and stylish touches! A really comfortable stay in a great location to which I would very happily return.

For most of our stay there were 5 of us, sometimes 6 which was fine but I think although you could accommodate 8 that might be a squeeze especially if the weather was too bad to go out. The large fridge freezer was very useful as was the dishwasher. Good to have off road parking opposite as West Street is quite narrow. All in all an enjoyable stay.

Yes I agree downstairs is a bit tight for 8 adults, but Sykes base occupancy on number of bedrooms. This property has three very large bedrooms and one normal size bedroom . The outside area has seating which helps with providing extra space in good weather. Property Owner

On arriving at the period house in West Street, keys were easy to locate and on entering after a cold day, the warmth greeted you. We were 5 adults, 2 under 3's and a teenager. Also 2 small dogs There was plenty of room in the house itself, lovely large bedrooms and main bathroom, however the kitchen table was a bit of a squeeze. It does extend but the fridge freezer was in the way a little. The kitchen was well equipped with a large range cooker, a large american style fridge freezer, dishwasher, and if needed a washing machine. Plenty of plates, bowls etc and also childrens plates and forks which was useful. Outside there is a seating area which is plenty large ( 2 outdoor tables and chairs)and then a further bench in a separate area, very quirky. Beds were comfortable and the house was very warm. The settees in the lounge were firm to sit on, but were fine for a short break. The road it is on doesn't have much traffic and its a couple of minutes to the sea and into the main shopping area. Parking was off the road in a barriered private carpark. So much to do in the local area, we'll have to return and I'd happily stay at no 30 again.

It has obviously been refurbished extremely well. All the kitchen appliances were very good quality, and very clean. The property is, as stated in the information, very dog friendly, although there were no doggy smells at all. It was very clean throughout. There were 2 allocated parking spaces in the residents car park directly opposite the property. There is also a public car park about 250 yards down the road if there were more than 2 cars. It was also most helpful to have an email from the owner a few days before our arrival with comprehensive instructions. Well done! However we have one or two other comments. We booked the property as it will accommodate 8 people sleeping, which it does very well. However the lounge has 2 settees which only allows 6 to sit comfortably. We were originally going to be 7 adults, later reduced to 6, so it just worked out OK. The kitchen (which is about 10ft square) doubles up as a dining area, and the clever table arrangement expands very well, however there are only 2 benches which will sit 4 people, but we had to bring 2 garden chairs in for the other 2 people. If we'd needed to sit 8, there would have been not space to work in the kitchen as well. While the sleeping arrangements are fine for 8 adults, the living space is really maxed out with 6 adults.

Our three girls enjoyed being outside in the two secure areas. The lower being a patio (which could be gated) and the upper garden with raised beds and slated areas. The cottage kitchen was extremely well-equipped with everything you might need including a lovely welcome tray with different teas, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits. The plumbed in cold water and ice machine particularly welcome as we were extremely lucky with the weather, sunny every day. Every room was beautifully furnished, fresh and very clean. The property has two allocated parking spaces right across the road which was very useful. The town’s folk made Watchet an unbelievably welcoming and friendly place to stay. Almost every business is dog friendly so no problems going shopping, eating out or having a pint or GandT. West Beach is rocky and although first impression doesn’t look great there is a ‘boating lake’ which doubled up as a doggy swimming pool and our girls loved running amongst the rocks.
