  • "Amazing apartment our thanks to the owners, all the essentials available for us to use with great access to the beach and views of Burgh Island."

Would highly recommend this apartment and we would love to come back here again. We had some delicious meals at The Causeway Club restaurant, so handy.

  • "Had a fabulous time property 1st class."

But patio door very stiff and 2 cracked mugs one leaked left in cupboard upside down and told cleaner about them. Sorry accidentally picked up plastic door stop will return when we go to number 2 next year. Could not wait to book another holiday which we have now done.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at the property. Due to the location of the apartment the patio doors are thicker and heavier than standard patio doors. The doors are cleaned regularly to remove any sand from the runners and every 3 months the doors are dismantled to give them a complete clean. The cracked mugs have been replaced. The location is amazing and we hope that you have a lovely holiday when you return next year. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful place really high standards very comfy nice touches eg complimentary post cards and fridge magnets."

On site bistro not yet completely up to usual speed re meals and drinks but getting there

Glad that you enjoyed it. The on-site club is getting back on track, the new team is upgrading the menu weekly. They haven't had their feet under the table for long. We should have the bar license back soon. The whole management system had to change post-COVID. The old license was in the names of the previous stewards who left to run a pub. We are almost there! Thanks again. Property Owner

  • "The view & proximity to the beach is just the best."

Beds comfortable, very Well equipped , clean apartment. Decent size parking space great. Loved the swimming pool, Liz was so nice very helpful. Just a couple of ‘issues’ the carpets in both bedrooms had many many marks on them as did the dining room chair seats. Plus the carpet into the double room had come out of the gripper and was fraying out. Disappointing when the apartment is expensive. Minor moan the dining room chairs are sooooo heavy. Hopefully the carpets will be cleaned during the Winter

We are very glad that you enjoyed your stay. Liz and Howard have now taken a pub so a new team had to come in. Thanks for raising the issues, we were aware but its not easy to get carpets and fabrics cleaned/changed whilst the apartment is fully booked. Both were dealt with promptly as soon as we could get a 'gap'. the new fabric in the chairs is great, and a colour match for the futons. Property Owner

  • "A fantastic holiday home, perfect and comfortable for a family with young children and right on the beach."

Has a pool on site booked via the cafe owners. Has a dedicated parking spot- we found it a tight of a tight squeeze so used a visitors’ space. Can’t recommend it highly enough for a relaxing stay.

  • "It is very nice place sadley all the things did not work,we did ring the number for repairs but no came of rang."

1/ down light out 2/ The towel heater would not work, think it may be the swith as the cover was off

Thank you for providing your valuable feedback which we discussed with the owner of 12 Burgh Island who reports that the uplighter works fine, it is operated by a foot switch, the towel rails are permanently set at a good warm level with controls at the bottom had you desired them to be warmer. The housekeeper did try to return your call but did not hear back from you again. Despite the points raised we do hope you enjoyed your stay at Burgh Island. Property Owner

  • "The instructions regarding the stripping of the bedding at the end of the week needs greater clarity."

I believe we incorrectly stripped the mattress cover. the instruction need to state that the QUILTED mattress cover must be left on. By the way we were unable to locate a tin opener, which as eating out is somewhat difficult to arrange,is a useful implement to have. Regards G, Taylor

  • "Have spent many holidays in various apartments at Bigbury and they are all superb with great views ."

It is the first time in this apartment , and we certainly enjoyed it , however the only big negative issue was on arrival we could not get into the property , there were no front door keys left in the key safe . There is no signal for the mobile phone in Bigbury so struggled to contact owner , eventually contacted the caretaker from the cafe , who came out promptly to provide the keys . This forgetful issue by someone ruined the first evening of our holiday. However having said this the remainder of the holiday in the apartment was very comfortable and enjoyable .

  • "We've stayed at Burgh Island Causeway before and again had a great seaside holiday."

The apartment is spacious and comfortable and of course has fantastic views. We enjoyed early morning dips in the sea, lazy afternoons on the beach, beautiful sunsets and great evening meals at the 14th century Pilchard Inn. I'm sure we'll be back.

  • "The instructions from entry into the property were very comprehensive, however, to open the gate to the car park requires a code, which you supply but there are TWO keypads one of which doesn't work and caused a bit of confusion."

It is the keypad on the right hand side that works. Thanks

The island's jolly pub, The Pilchard, is fun to visit (long-legged sea tractor at high tide).

All the apartments, which are privately owned and individually furnished, have those sensational views, and are wonderfully light, with large, airy open-plan living/dining/kitchens and glazed doors to balconies or terraces. The smallish bedrooms, at the back (without views), have good quality en suite bath or shower-rooms.The building is three-storey.Most apartments have easy access (short walk from parking and between 5 and 9 steps down to the lift). The ground floor (still high above the beach) apartments have big terraces, the first and top floor apartments have very good-sized balconies.Arrival after 4pm.The leisure facilities, which are free for guests to use and open from 10am every day (except Christmas Day), include a fine indoor swimming pool (40' x 20' x 4'6"), spa pool, well-equipped gym (treadmill, steps, cycles, Concept II Rower and other instruments of torture) and sauna (no children under 14 in gym or sauna). There are changing rooms, a shower and disabled loo.The Club restaurant/smart bar, is open 10am to 9pm during the High Season, reservations recommended (for all other times of the year, please contact the Leisure Centre for the opening times), serves excellent food throughout the day, with a popular dinner menu which varies daily and themed evenings. You can also order meals to take to your apartment. The comfy lounging area has sofas and WiFi, and the sunny outdoor terrace faces the sea.

Apartment 12 is a first floor apartment in the centre with the fabulous views to south and west and big glass doors opening to a good sized balcony.

The bright, stylish open plan living space has an oak floor, good paintings, sofas on which to relax and watch the smart TV, a dining area and a fitted kitchen area.

About the location

BIGBURY-ON-SEA

Modbury 6 miles; Plymouth 12 miles.

Bigbury-on-Sea is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is ideal for family holidays. Dusted with sand and lapped by shallow waters, the beach offers safe fun for groups particularly if you’ve got children in tow. In addition, Bigbury-on-Sea beach is dotted with rock pools, so there’s plenty of entertainment for budding marine biologists. There’s also a wide and varied selection of watersports available to visitors who prefer their holidays to feature a little adrenaline rush. Windsurfing and kite-surfing are popular here, with hire facilities located right on the beach. To give you some peace of mind, there are lifeguards present at Bigbury-on-Sea beach during May to September and the beach also has a first-aid room. You can even take the dog onto the beach, although they are restricted to certain areas during the summer. Bigbury’s most famous landmark is Burgh Island, which overlooks the beach itself. The island is accessible at low tide, when the waters reveal a causeway that links it to the beach. However, when the tide is in you can still reach the island by hitching a ride on the popular and unique ‘sea tractor’. Burgh Island boasts an award-winning hotel, elegant and rather genteel, it’s an ideal romantic retreat for couples. Explore the South Devon coast with its fabulous sandy beaches and its breathtakingly beautiful coastal path or simply take time to visit some of the charming estuary towns and villages dotted throughout the area, such as Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. The city of Plymouth and the wild open spaces of Dartmoor are also both close at hand.
