  • "Lovely apartment in a fabulous spot."

We had a special week celebrating my husbands 60th birthday. Dined on the balcony in the October sunshine! Home from home comforts. Most relaxing. Stunning views. Will definitely return given the chance. Thank you.

  • "The property was superbly clean and well appointed, just a little dated."

The only issue that we had was that there was no where to store food other than the fridge and freezer, as all the kitchen cupboards were full!

  • "Thank you for a lovely stay - we had a great week The apartment was extremely comfortable and clean."

Sofas and beds so comfy and we loved our window seat sofa with those amazing views. The apartment was very well equipped and of a really good size allowing you to feel at home. The views and situation was perfect for a young family. To be so close to the pool and beach was just brilliant. Few negatives Sauna doesn’t work and doesn’t look like it has for a while. Swimming pool could be a little too cold for my 2 year old. Couple of days she only managed 30 mins but the last day was much more pleasant. Internet problems all week - likely temporary issue However would recommend the apartment, thank you again

  • "We had a wonderful holiday in a lovely flat."

The peace and views of the flat and area were outstanding and enjoyed. It was very comfortable. However it should be made clear there are miles of very narrow lanes to get there and steps at the property in the advertising. This is not suitable for anyone with a disability or who finds stairs difficult. There were no cushions for the balcony furniture and the sauna and whirlpool were not in use during our stay.

The flat was beautiful, warm and comfortable and the views amazing! Thank you for fixing the water pressure issue which was very low when we arrived.

  • "Such a beautiful location and we had the best time."

Would be better if the flooring was more suitable for a beach holiday - carpets are very impractical for sea and sand. That is my only criticism. The bottle of wine left by the owner was appreciated. Very well-equipped apartment.

  • "Excellent property ."

Very comfortable beds. Our only problem was the oven which we had difficulty working - probably our fault. We have stayed in a lot of places and would rate this very highly.

It is clean and has all the facilities you need . Access to the club , at the complex, is a real bonus because it has a pool gym and a nice cafe/ restaurant.

  • "Lovely views and superior furnishings."

We had a relaxing week. Minor niggles: Oven door does not shut properly Some crockery was chipped Kitchen cupboards shut with a bang. Need the little stick on cushions you can get at the hardware store. Recommended for a quiet, stress-free beach holiday.

  • "This was our 2nd stay in this accommodation."

It is very comfortable, clean and inviting. Plenty of cooking utensils, no baking trays but plenty of pyrex dishes to use for roasts etc. There are throws and lots of cushions for getting comfortable in the evenings. A Dyson cordless hoover helped me to keep the place clean, it was easy to use and put back on charge. There were 2 bodyboards in a wardrobe - we didn't need them as we had our own. The wifi works, but was a little unreliable for streaming Netflix or amazon video - it did work but froze periodically much to our teenager's frustration. It did work perfectly well at other times. The clubhouse staff were very helpful with the booking of the swimming pool (have to book due to covid). The pool was really warm. The clubhouse was also fantastic at accommodating dietary requirements. I have gluten intolerance and they altered meals for me. The food was good quality and tasty. The views are fabulous.

  • "Poor selection of ovenware, only one set of keys."

Bed very confortable, sofas and outside chairs uncomfortable.

Thank you for your feedback, we will look into our ovenware collection to ensure nothing has gone missing and it is up to our usual standard. With regards to the outdoor furniture, there are bespoke cushions that are provided for the furniture, for future reference these are located in the blanket box on the balcony. We are glad that you found the beds comfortable and hopefully look forward to your return next year. Property Owner

  • "Needs some updating of equipment and simplifying of the books on locality as they are a mess to try and understand."

Also too many cooking utensils some very old. No oven baking tray. Simply things but one expects better quality in an apartment of this quality. Love the situation of these apartments and would be even better when the club facilities are available. We wont be returning until the pool and gym open (if ever)

  • "It was a lovely apartment."

Staff in the restaurant really helpful and obliging. My mother has mobility issues the steps cause a bit of a problem as did the narrow parking spaces so we parked in the visitors area. The apartment was very comfortable, lovely bathrooms and towels. Oven needs a clean as did the balcony. There is too much stuff in the kitchen and it would of been nice to have an empty cupboard for food.

It is always lovely to receive a nice review and I am so glad you liked the apartment and restaurant facilities. In the kitchen there is a whole large cupboard left empty purely for your food storage - I am sorry you didn't find it. Usually we receive a positive response as to how well equipped the kitchen is however we always value useful feedback. We have just spoken to our cleaners regarding the oven & balcony. However on the balcony it can be cleaned beautifully and it only takes a wind to blow sand back on to it I'm afraid! Property Owner

13, loved the close proximity to the ever changing beaches. Became really interested in the new Tide Tables purchased and left for the next guests. Enjoyed the walk and views to nearby Challaborough for a daily paper and the uphill climb back! Burgh Island View Apartments

Just 20 yards from Bigbury-on-Sea's big and splendid sandy beach, looking to Burgh Island Causeway, are 29 stunning, high quality apartments, of which we let a number. Within the same building are excellent leisure facilities and a restaurant. The views over the sea to the south and west, and at low tide of a vast expanse of smooth washed yellow sand reaching to Burgh Island, are outstanding. The island's jolly pub, The Pilchard, is fun to visit (long-legged sea tractor at high tide). All the apartments, which are privately owned and individually furnished, have those sensational views, and are wonderfully light, with large, airy open-plan living/dining/kitchens and glazed doors to balconies or terraces. The smallish bedrooms, at the back (without views), have good quality en suite bath or shower-rooms. The apartment building is three-storey. Most apartments have easy access (short walk from parking and between 5 and 9 steps down to the lift). The ground floor (still high above the beach) apartments have big terraces, the first and top floor apartments have very good-sized balconies. The leisure facilities, which are free for guests to use and open from 10am every day (except Christmas Day), include a fine indoor swimming pool (40' x 20' x 4'6"), spa pool, well-equipped gym (treadmill, steps, cycles, Concept II Rower and other instruments of torture) and sauna (no children under 14 in gym or sauna). There are changing rooms, a shower and disabled loo. The Club restaurant/smart bar, is open 10am to 9pm during the High Season, reservations recommended (for all other times of the year, please contact the Leisure Centre for opening times), serves excellent food throughout the day, with a popular dinner menu which varies daily and themed evenings. You can also order meals to take to your apartment. The comfy lounging area has sofas and WiFi, and the sunny outdoor terrace faces the sea.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

About the location

BIGBURY-ON-SEA

Modbury 6 miles; Plymouth 12 miles.

Bigbury-on-Sea is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is ideal for family holidays. Dusted with sand and lapped by shallow waters, the beach offers safe fun for groups particularly if you’ve got children in tow. In addition, Bigbury-on-Sea beach is dotted with rock pools, so there’s plenty of entertainment for budding marine biologists. There’s also a wide and varied selection of watersports available to visitors who prefer their holidays to feature a little adrenaline rush. Windsurfing and kite-surfing are popular here, with hire facilities located right on the beach. To give you some peace of mind, there are lifeguards present at Bigbury-on-Sea beach during May to September and the beach also has a first-aid room. You can even take the dog onto the beach, although they are restricted to certain areas during the summer. Bigbury’s most famous landmark is Burgh Island, which overlooks the beach itself. The island is accessible at low tide, when the waters reveal a causeway that links it to the beach. However, when the tide is in you can still reach the island by hitching a ride on the popular and unique ‘sea tractor’. Burgh Island boasts an award-winning hotel, elegant and rather genteel, it’s an ideal romantic retreat for couples. Explore the South Devon coast with its fabulous sandy beaches and its breathtakingly beautiful coastal path or simply take time to visit some of the charming estuary towns and villages dotted throughout the area, such as Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. The city of Plymouth and the wild open spaces of Dartmoor are also both close at hand.
