The beaches and harbour are only a two minute walk away, and Minehead is 15 minutes in the car or train which itself has beautiful beaches. The beaches at Watchet are great for rockpools, collecting sea glass and fossils. The cottage was beautifully presented and has everything you need. The washing machine was really useful with two young children! There were also some really nice touches such as shower gels, a bottle of wine and tea, coffee and biscuits left for us, which were really appreciated after a long drive down. We were lucky enough to meet the owner of the cottage who was lovely and I would reiterate our thanks to her. I cant recommend this cottage enough and we will be booking again next year.

The property

This modern cottage is located in the centre of Watchet, a charming coastal port in North Somerset.

This delightful cottage is bright and cheerful and is an ideal place for a family holiday.

The open plan living area is furnished in an attractive style with comfy leather sofas, laminate flooring throughout and a compact kitchen along with two bedrooms.

At the rear of this cottage is a pretty, planted courtyard garden with seating, perfect for sitting and listening to the tinkle of yacht masts at the marina, which is just a couple of minutes' walk away.

Watchet has much to offer the visitor including elegant shops, the marina, a beach rich in reptile fossils and ammonites, and an interesting heritage trail.

Watchet is on the West Somerset Railway line, a heritage railway with steam trains running through 20 miles of beautiful countryside and connecting Watchet with Dunster and Minehead.

A stay in this lovely cottage will give you a wonderful view into the hidden secrets of the Somerset coastline.

About the location

WATCHET

Minehead 9 miles.

Watchet is a delightful, small Somerset harbour town with a maritime history going back over two millennia, where visitors may enjoy the variety of quaint shops on offer and watch the boats in the marina. Watchet attracts railway enthusiasts from all around, as The West Somerset Railway, twenty miles of preserved steam railway, passes through Watchet and continues through stunning scenery to the coastal town of Minehead, approximately nine miles away. There are superb walks along the coast from Watchet, while towards St Audries in the east, the Quantock Hills rise to 1,000 feet above the sea and the Brendon Hills and Exmoor are to the west, within easy reach. Explore the many pretty coastal and inland villages including Porlock, with its steep hill and pretty winding streets, Dunster with its dramatic castle perched above the historic village and the busy resort of Minehead with its sandy beach, golf course and traditional seaside attractions. This is an excellent choice of holiday destination for rural beauty, dramatic coastline and splendid walking.
