“Coastguards Cottage is in an ideal position just a short walk to the village, bus stop and station - although there is a short flight of steep steps.”

    ...

The cottage has a wonderful view out to the Bristol Channel with Wales visible in the distance and the cottage has some outdoor furniture so you can enjoy this fully. The cottage was wonderfully clean, with safe parking and it had everything we needed. If you are taking a dog, please note that the garden wall is short and can be jumped probably by the smallest dog. There is a rarely used pedestrian foot path running alongside the garden and also a path along the bottom (non visible due to the gradient and was not a problem to us). There is a recreation field very close by but I think the dogs are only allow around the edge and the beaches are dog friendly. The maps at the property were useful and we found a nice walk to the next village of Williton over a field. The coast path to Blue Anchor is closed due to a landslip but you can walk along the beach, although we found this hard work as it was either rocky or sinking/soggy sands (maybe its not in the summer?) We visited in April 21 and many of the village amenities were still closed due to COVID. There are chip shops, cafes, a co-op, pubs and kebab shop in the village. We will definitely consider visiting again.

About the location

WATCHET

Minehead 9 miles.

Watchet is a delightful, small Somerset harbour town with a maritime history going back over two millennia, where visitors may enjoy the variety of quaint shops on offer and watch the boats in the marina. Watchet attracts railway enthusiasts from all around, as The West Somerset Railway, twenty miles of preserved steam railway, passes through Watchet and continues through stunning scenery to the coastal town of Minehead, approximately nine miles away. There are superb walks along the coast from Watchet, while towards St Audries in the east, the Quantock Hills rise to 1,000 feet above the sea and the Brendon Hills and Exmoor are to the west, within easy reach. Explore the many pretty coastal and inland villages including Porlock, with its steep hill and pretty winding streets, Dunster with its dramatic castle perched above the historic village and the busy resort of Minehead with its sandy beach, golf course and traditional seaside attractions. This is an excellent choice of holiday destination for rural beauty, dramatic coastline and splendid walking.
