Dog friendly so that is a great help. We did have a parking ticket while we were there but the owner dealt with this so no problem.

The stairs may be a problem for some. The downstairs WC was ill-fitted and loose, we decided not to use it. Overall we were very satisfied.

Thanks Paul for informing us about the toilet, we have notified our plumber and it will be resecured to the floor on the next changeover.... Thank you for your positive comments about the cottage. Property Owner

Maximising views of harbour and town. Containing everything you might need for a comfy cottage stay. All amenities within walking distance. Steam train along the coast an added bonus for a non driving day out! Steep stairs to top floor might be a problem for people with mobility issues. Watchet is a very charming seaside town, enjoyed our stay.

  • "Lovely reverse level quirky cottage with sea views I have to start by mentioning that the welcome goodies were truly amazing, not just essentials until able to get to the supermarket but generous quantities of everything you could think of including drinks The accommodation is very comfortable, lovely spacious king bedroom on the ground floor with en suite facilities."

There’s a further twin bedroom on the first floor. The upstairs bedroom is very light and airy with windows front and side. Both bedrooms have tea, coffee making facilities, again in abundance. The large modern shower room is on the landing. Then up a further flight of stairs takes you to an airy spacious open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area. This is a lovely double aspect room with amazing sea views where the windows open at both back and front of the property making it fresh and cool in the hot weather we have had recently. It takes less than a minute to walk to the Esplanade where all nature of events take place and you never miss an event because you can hear what is going on if you have the windows open. Further to the comments from a previous visitor to this cottage regarding his dog having difficulty with the upper flight of stairs, I accept that a dashound may struggle, not particularly because of its age, but mainly its short legs as the top flight of stairs are a bit steeper, which Sykes clearly mentions on their site. We had our 13 year old border collie with us and she not only managed the stairs ok, but loved lying at the top where she could watch us from her vantage point. A further advantage with this cottage is that parking is included on any of the 6 car parks in the village. We unloaded the car outside the cottage and then parked on the nearest car park where there was always plenty of availability. The presentation of this accommodation by the owners is a credit to them so I thank them for a lovely holiday in their spotlessly clean cottage.

It was lovely to meet you both and we are delighted that you loved The Old Lighthouse Cottage and Watchet. Thank you very much for your review. Property Owner

Brilliantly equipped with everything you could ever want and a truly generous welcome pack. Spotlessly clean throughout. Your host is also incredibly welcoming and helpful to ensure you have the best possible stay. Would definitely recommend. However, be aware the top stairs to the main living area are very steep and a real challenge for anyone with any mobility issues.

  • "The property location is wonderful."

Ray we spoke to a couple of times was most helpful. We thank him for the generous welcome goodies what a treat. However the description of the property was misleading. The stairs leading to the third floor living space are challenging to say the least. Our elderly daschund needed lifting up and down and on those stairs was a dangerous and difficult thing to do. In our opinion this cottage should come with a warning, and an advisory to physically challenged renters. Not pooch friendly. Booking with Sykes as always is easy and efficient. Watchet provides for all our holiday needs and we will be returning next year. If Sykes has other properties in the harbour I would like to book for next year.

Hi Sara ,sorry your elderly daschund had trouble with climbing the stairs at the cottage . The cottage is on three levels as described on the Sykes site, the two flights of stairs meet with building regulation. Thanks for the positive in your message. Ray. Property Owner

The welcome pack was more than generous and the owner had arranged free parking a short distance from the cottage. The owner contacted us early on during our stay to ask if we had settled in ok and was there anything else we needed, which we thought was a really nice touch. All in all a brilliant cottage in a lovely little town that we would love to return to in the future.

The welcome pack was very thoughtfully prepared and extremely generous. Our bedrooms were comfortable and we slept very well as the property was situated in a peaceful area just behind the harbour.
