  • "We had a lovely time in devon."

Comfortable, clean lodge. Enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels out on the decking. Sea view. Wish we could have stayed longer. Even the dog was sad to leave. Would recomend.

  • "Lodge was well equipped."

It was comfortable. I took my elderly mother with me and having the ramp down to the lodge was very welcome.

Washing machine was not working and windows very dirty tv signal poor at times . But we would book it again if the price was the same .

  • "It’s a good site but we we were disappointed with the swimming pool which was small & shallow."

Would have been useful to have a hair dryer. The main double bed was short & not very comfortable. Otherwise a good holiday, thanks!

  • "There were a few things we felt could have been improved."

Communication was poor to us regarding our taking over the lodge. We had to wait until 7pm to get in resulting in fractious children and the diabetic having problems. We know there were staffing problems but even though I left my telephone number to be contacted when the lodge was ready this didn't happen. Within the lodge itself there were no instructions on how to use the appliances. It was disappointing only to supply one tea towel and four dishwasher tablets. The lack of poppers on duvet covers meant wriggly children got tied up in them this could be dangerous. The site was in a lovely position and overall we enjoyed our stay. We hope our comments may help improve your service. Rick Tiller

  • "We found the lodge was not what we expected."

On the outside there were cobwebs everywhere I thought that even with the lock down someone would have at least tried to spruce it up. Inside we found the two settees left a lot to be desired and in the second double room the mattress springs were sticking up in fact my granddaughter had to go to reception to borrow a duvet to put on the mattress. I have rented a number of cottages from Sykes but must say this is the worst one I have ever rented.

  • "Although the cabin was comfortable and clean, its location made it feel a bit "shut in" as it was surrounded by trees and had no view except for more trees close to."

  • "The lodge itself was lovely."

We all enjoyed ourselves and managed to have plenty of space! The place itself needs a little TLC however it’s perfect otherwise. Sadly, none of the amenities were open on site due to covid however the staff we’re friendly and very helpful. I’d happily come again to this lodge as the location is perfect! You’re right near the harbour and close enough to neighbouring towns.

  • "The lodge itself was comfortable, spacious, well equipped and in a great location."

But to say check in time had been put back to 6 pm for additional cleaning for covid we were disappointed to discover on arrival that venetian blinds in both bathrooms were very dusty and there were large cob webs evident. We also noticed the carpet had quite a few dog hairs on it from a previous occupant (our dog doesn't mault) and on Sunday morning we tried to rectify this but the vacuum didn't work.. This fault reported to the management company via text who replied 48-72hours later to say they would notify the owner and cleaning company. No replacement received during the stay. To say as guests you are required to strip all the beds and place these along with bath towels in bags and the check in is 6pm & check out 9am the cleanliness was poor standard for the time they had in comparison to another holiday let we've stayed in since covid. If the owner is paying for a company to do the cleaning I would recommend looking into an alternative firm as the lodge itself is great! The location is great for exploring North Devon, which is beautiful. We didn't use the site facilities as we were unsure what was available to us during our stay and if there were any changes due to covid. A notice on the fridge said to contact the management team if you wanted information about this. We had no mobile signal at the lodge and as it took 48-72hrs to get a response to our text (we sent this when visiting another town) about the vacuum, we decided not to ask and there was plenty to do in surrounding areas. It would be better if guests could have email information about the facilities prior to their arrival if paper copies can't be kept in the lodge.
