It was very cosy , which was very important as the weather was not too great. The wood burner was so much appreciated The cottage was very well equipped, clean and comfortable. The owners made sure everything was ready for us The only thing missing was WiFi. I didn’t think to ask as I wrongly assumed everyone had it . It didn’t spoil our time there at all but it would have been useful

  • "A lovely welcome from the owners - fresh scones and cream and fresh flowers, a lovely touch."

The owners checked that everything was OK for us and made sure we were comfortable and informed about the local activities. The kitchen was well equipped (which can often be lacking in a holiday cottage). Would have liked a dishwasher but it would be impractical here. The stairs are extremely steep but that is stated in the brochure. Parking could be an issue as the street is very narrow (it is Devon!) and there is a gravel standing next to the property for parking, but the cottage at the rear has pedestrian access. Other residents parked opposite and this made it tricky to reverse onto the gravel area (and I only have a small car). The cottage is well placed for walking and it is an easy walk into Instow on the Tarka Trail. The highlight of our stay was a visit to RHS Rosemoor where we had a really lovely Sunday carvery for lunch.

  • "The setting of the cottage was ideal, in a small village with a lovely pub."

It was everything you imagine a Devon cottage to be. We were made to feel very welcome and immediately felt at home. The situation of the cottage is perfect for exploring North Devon. I would recommend it to anyone. The scones, cream and jam on arrival was a lovely and welcome touch. The close proximity to the Tarka trail and bicycle hire in Bideford is a must, as is a visit to Clovelly. Appledore across the estuary is well worth a visit for the pubs, fish and chips and ice cream, (delicious) but not very slimming.
