The owners left us to it which was great bit they were there if we needed them for anything. Thanks for having us, it was perfect.

We went to several places in East Devon within easy reach. The accommodation had all we could wish for except an egg poacher. We highly recommend it to others. Jayne and Simon September 2021

Well located for the beaches and coastal walks of east Devon. The flat is well equipped with all the usual kitchen items. The owners live in the adjoining property and were friendly but unobtrusive.

Excellent accommodation - would recomend it to any couple desiring a peaceful stay away from the maddening crowds - relatively easy to locate - friendly owners who made our stay so enjoyable (just wish the friends who live closeby had purchased this place when they were considering moving into the area some thirty years ago - would stress it is ideal for a couple, even pensioners like ourselves, and those with two young children, facilities ideal and owners put themselves out by providing all that was necessary for our stay - even including freshly laid eggs - the friendly woofie greeted us with a wag from his tail -

  • "We enjoyed a three night stay with our two children and 3 and 1."

The weather was very autumnal, blustery and wet and the accommodation was a warm and cosy place to return to after exploring the local beaches. It is only a ten minute drive from coast so perfect if travelling with small ones! Although described as a ‘cottage’ the accommodation is more like a flat. (My 3 year old was mystified by the lack of stairs) The garden is very pretty, as is the view of thatched roofs but if you’re looking for cottage charm inside you may be disappointed. We did not see the owners but a sweet little pack of tea biscuits and juice for the children was left and they were quick to respond to text message regarding arrival time. All in all it was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for a few days.

  • "The flat is extremely comfy and the garden is really scenic."

there is not an eating place very near, our only slight disappointment. The owners could not have been more pleasant and helpful however, so would recommend this as a peaceful retreat. Change of sink, change of scene in these trying times.

  • "The Charlston was immaculately well presented and very comfortable."

A lovely welcome package met us on arrival including free range eggs from the owners chickens and fresh flowers on the table. The Charlston is so peaceful and quiet and yet is in easy reach of many beaches and things to do. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Charlston and would be more than happy to return. The owners really go above and beyond to ensure you have a great holiday. Many Thanks x

  • "Eggs from friendly owner Annie’s hens, as well as flowers and refreshments, made us feel welcome."

There was a private sunny patio as well as lawn surrounded by flowers. Inside was clean, spacious and cosy, rather than contemporary. Beds very comfortable including the bunk bed for an adult. Board games and books available but preferred to relax on the patio listening to the bird song and looking at the pretty surroundings.

  • "Lovely quiet place to stay."

Central heating is controlled by the owner's main house and comes on 1 hour 7.30am to 8.30am, and 6.00pm to 7.00pm. This is a good arrangement unless, like us, you get soaking wet and cold and arrive back to the house around 4.30pm and the heating is off. There is a free standing electric fire which we used once, and a wall mounted electric fire which we also used on the same occasion. But Sykes rep. had informed us that the central heating control was in the holiday let and therefore controlled by us, but it wasn't. For my own convenience with a handicapped daughter who could not be left alone whilst loading and unloading the car, it was important to get the car close to the entrance door. I was told this was possible, but this is not possible as the car is parked on stone chippings, in front of the house, but about 30 metres from the entrance door and round the corner, out of sight of the entrance door. This would not be a problem for most people.

Great location and very peaceful. All amenities are on site. Only downfall was bed mattress was knackered and I emailed owners to state this and heard nothing back. • "Our cottage was extremely comfortable and spacious."

It had a delightful garden and because we had wonderful weather, we were able to use the patio regularly. It was a restful area but also close to many places to visit. Local pubs served very good, reasonably priced food. Our landlady was delightful and very helpful. We came to Devon to play golf. Wiggaton was a good base for us as the courses were close by. Altogether, it was a delightful holiday and we will definitely return .
