We arrived at Upper Red Down through the lanes using the directions provided by Nigel and were amazed at the location and space around the converted barns. Our stay in Upper Red Down was first class. The accommodation offers two good bedrooms (one double and one with twin beds) and the main bedroom has a good size ensuite/shower with sink and toilet. The family bathroom has a bath, sink and toilet but no shower attachment. The bedding and towels are luxurious and top quality and the lounge and open plan kitchen/dining area is well equipped to include a dishwasher and washing machine. The patio is accessed via the French doors which offers views across the Devon Countryside. The cows in the field at the bottom of the garden were so lovely to see each day and the owners dogs, Hector and Lottie also popped in to see us! There are plenty of places to visit locally, but be prepared for a short drive out, although the lanes are pretty manageable. There are local walks and maps and we found the information package very helpful. Helen had made a rather delicious sponge cake for our arrival and that was a lovely surprise! We highly recommend Upper Red Down, which is dog friendly and ideal for couples who want a quiet and relaxing break. Thank you Helen and Nigel for your care and attention during our stay.
