The peaceful village of Halstock sits on the Dorset side of the Somerset/Dorset border, just six miles south of Yeovil, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, dotted with lovely walks. Halstock has a village shop and lies just south of the 125-acre Sutton Bingham reservoir which is home to many migrant birds, including osprey, as well as having excellent facilities for fishing and sailing, with boats available for hire if you are certified. A short drive takes you to ancient Sherborne with its lovely abbey and castle, and boasts a wealth of fascinating shops to explore. Alternatively, Montecute House, Forde Abbey, Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum and Haynes Motor Museum are all easily accessible.
