  • "A delightful homely cottage with lots of interesting touches."

Well equipped and very comfortable. Friendly neighbours. The views of West Bay were an added bonus for me. I would certainly stay here again if I was visiting Bridport again.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Bedford Terrace, it really is a cosy home from home."

Dorset threw all weathers at us over our week in Bridport so we enjoyed cosy days in during rain storms, and breakfast in the garden in the sunshine. We appreciated the huge selection of guides, books and movies and the well equipped kitchen. The bathroom is a little basic and the shower a bit of a struggle for tall people (like us) , but was perfectly manageable. The back garden could do with a tidy/prune but we didn't really use it. The view of the sea from the bed was a real treat. Neighbours were all very friendly. We'll come again.

  • "Great 2 up 2 down cottage."

Loved the vintage style accoutrements, which made us feel at home. Very big main bedroom, sea view in the distance, king size bed was a bonus. Good size kitchen with everything you need. TV has Netflix/Prime apps. Quiet area, 5 minute walk to Bridport shops. Lots of nice local walks without the need to take the car. This is a great base for all the West Dorset/East Devon attractions. We, a family of 4, had a very relaxing week.

  • "We had a great stay at this cottage."

Brilliant location within easy walking distance of Bridport town centre. Some of the reviews talked about issues with parking but we had a long car and it was fine - we just took it slowly and put the wing mirrors in. Beds were very comfortable. Lounge area was nice with a log fire, lots of games and loads of information about Dorset and places to visit. There is a downstairs bathroom which was no problem for us. We had a great stay - thank you.

  • "The cottage has a view of the sea and the light of the town and West Bay from the top bedroom, which is big and comfortable."

It has a nice garden at the front with an apple tree and a place to sit and that was lovely. There is also a pretty patio at the back. The selection of books and guides was super. The sofas comfortable and the kitchen functional and cosy. The cottage is set in the nicest part of Bridport, right up a narrow lane. We were there for Hatterday which is in the grounds of an old house with gardens nearby. There also a park up the hill, but we didn't have time to see it. The cottage is near the main street and the shops. I liked the decor and all the pictures, but it wasn't to the taste of everyone in our group. The oven could have done with cleaning and to make the cottage shine I would suggest a deeper clean between guests. We were very at home and had a relaxing time. .

  • "We liked the cottage very much."

It was nice and close to the town with lots of useful information and relatively cool downstairs! The location was good with may places to visit close by.Well equipped except we felt that it would have been useful to have had a non stick smaller frying pan. Just a thought- the kitchen chairs seemed a little wobbly and one of the top of the seat backs came apart. It may be useful to mention how narrow the access is I am very glad we didn't have a larger car! All in all it was lovely.

Lovely cottage with great sea views and everything that you could need. Friendly neighbours too.

  • "Great holiday within walking distance of town."

Narrow driveway with small turning circle leading to parking space.

  • "The only drawback to this delightful property was the extremely narrow passage up to the cottage."

Only a small vehicle would manage this so future occupants should be aware that a larger family car wouldn't be able to access the property. As we had a small car, there was no problem. The cottage was very well appointed, lovely view of the sea, close to Bridport main streets which made the stay really great.

  • "Although the cottage itself was ok, it really does need some TLC."

It is a victorion property so wasn't surprised by the steep staircase or downstairs bathroom. However it was the little things like the sofas are really worn along with the cushions all needing to be replaced. During these covid times the soft furnishings just seemed too used and I thought more of an effort should've been made to change these regularly. The cooker wasn't exactly clean either. There must've been a leak in the roof because there was a big water stain on the main bedroom ceiling (a little lick of paint would've made all the difference). But by far the worse thing was there was no mention of just how narrow the lane was to access the property. Its that tight that we had to pull in the side mirrors on our car to get up the lane, then there was the negotiating of the area to fit the car into the allocated space. If we had known this we would not have booked this property. To finish on a positive note the view from the main bedroom is gorgeous and Bridport is a wonderful town. West Bay is also just a couple of miles walk away.

About the location

BRIDPORT

Lyme Regis 10 miles; West Bay 2 miles.

The attractive market town of Bridport grew up around the River Brit, and was shaped by its extensive history of rope and net making. The long, wide streets and alleyways between the houses were once where the flax strands were twisted into rope, while today those streets are filled with an interesting variety of shops, restaurants and inns. Bridport’s market is regularly featured on the River Cottage TV programme. 2 miles south of Bridport is the dramatic Jurassic coast at West Bay, now a World Heritage Site, home to the backdrop for TV's Harbour Lights and the coastal setting for popular Broadchurch, whilst the picturesque resort of Lyme Regis is within 10 miles. A superb base for exploring wonderful West Dorset.
