  • "We had a lovely stay at The Barn - just what we wanted, a stay away from busy work to rest and relax."

A great welcome from Gail and the property was very clean, tidy and comfortable. We enjoyed following the route for your favourite walk that we found in your guest information folder. We also enjoyed your baked treat of banana cake and we did take advantage of your kind offer to pop the extra Frog Pond Farm apple juice in our bag to enjoy at back at home; that is delicious! Highly recommended, we really enjoyed it.

Looking out the floor to ceiling window was awesome even on rainy days. So many places to visit within easy reach and by using the park and ride facilities made it easy. A warm welcome from the owners and very helpful.

Many thanks for your kind comments which are much appreciated. We are delighted you had an enjoyable stay with us in Ansty. Property Owner

  • "We loved our stay at the Barn."

A very comfortable and peaceful spot with plenty of visits close by including country walks direct from the barn. The pubs we ate at, all within 15 minutes, were excellent and Tisbury has most things needed shopping wise. The station at Tisbury has a good rail service east to Salisbury (10 mins) and other destinations west. The hosts were very helpful. The bath without shower and a few low ceilings need noting, but that understood, it's brilliant.

  • "Very nice Barn in lovely quite setting in large grounds ideally situated for exploring the area ,only a few small negatives living area small ,bathroom has toilet in a position were it is difficult to stand in front due to sloping ceiling and apple tv is not very user friendly and kept losing signal."

We are sorry that you found the bathroom facilities were not ideal, and will continue to draw people's attention to this in the description of the property - although it's difficult to change things significantly due to the design of the building. We are also sorry that you had issues with the Apple TV signal - this was the first problem anyone has encountered as far we are aware - but we will continue to keep a close eye on this. Thank you anyway, for your kind comments which are appreciated. Property Owner

About the location

TISBURY, NEAR BATH

Shaftesbury 12 miles; Salisbury 15 miles.

An interesting, lively village on the Wiltshire/Dorset border, well served by a good selection of inns, shops, a library, a bank, a garage and with a regular rail link to both London and Exeter. The village is set in the valley of the River Nadder, a good fishing river which gently meanders its way down to Salisbury and where herons, grey wagtails and even kingfishers may be seen - a bird watcher’s paradise! Along the valley, the lush green countryside provides superb rural walks and cycling. Full of history, the nearby mill predates even the Domesday Book. A visit to the local churchyard reveals a famous 1,000 year old yew tree and also the graves of Rudyard Kipling's parents, who lived here. The village serves as a great year round base for exploring this interesting area. Within a short drive are Wilton House, Shaftesbury, Old Wardour Castle, Stourhead, Stonehenge (which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury.
