  • "Your property has jumped into my top 3 holiday rentals I have made in the last 20 years, very very pleased with our stay 4great bedrooms very well equipped kitchen, location excellent we spent every day on the south coast with no more than an hour travel."

Not sure why negative feedback about parking I parked a Ford galaxy no problem.

Thank you so much, I'm glad you had a good holiday. I really appreciate your positive feedback. Caroline x Property Owner

  • "Wonderful cottage perfect for families (or in our case several generations of family) to stay."

Small parking space, but very cheap (£4/day) parking in Yarn Barton car park less than a minute from the front door. Well appointed kitchen, stocked with everything you’d need to eat all together (although with what’s on offer to eat out in town why would you!). And very pleasant to find washing up liquid/kitchen spray/dishwasher tabs already in the cupboard instead of having to buy new packs. Washing machine/ speedy tumble dryer/ clothes horse all readily available. Our only complaint would be that the ironing board cover was ripped, but it did mean I could justify having crinkly clothes!

Thanks for your positive feedback. Yes the local restaurants are fabulous. I didn't realise that the ironing board cover was ripped. I shall replace immediately. Happy that you enjoyed your stay. Caroline. Property Owner

  • "We have stayed here before so we knew it was lovely."

It’s a great place and literally the only negatives are: - not being able to check in until 5pm feels a little unfair and I don’t think this can really be blamed on the pandemic any more. It means visitors are missing an entire day of their stay - particularly if you’re expecting visitors to vacate at 10.00am - similarly, I think asking people to strip their own beds before they leave (not an easy task for some and not what you want to be doing before you leave the property at 10.00 on your last day) and blaming this on the pandemic is a little cheeky - I couldn’t find info on what the recycling arrangements are ie what goes in which bin etc - the tv is very basic - sound quality is very poor and very limited channels - the parking spot is extremely difficult to get into when next door are using theirs and the cottage immediately behind have a car there too. Both of these were the case throughout our stay which made it extremely challenging to get our car in every day. Would not have managed at all without parking sensors and even then it took an age, and lots of tricky manoeuvres. I suspect many people would simply not even attempt it and as there’s no very close local parking (The Square is a maximum of 2 hours) this could be a problem for some. I think it would be fair to make visitors aware of this - there’s no shower curtain in the ‘summer room’ bathroom which means the floor gets very wet if you’re not careful Although I’ve listed a few things here, this is genuinely only to give you helpful feedback. We do really like the property and there are many more positives than negatives. We would happily stay here again.

Thank you for staying at my cottage again and thanks for the constructive feedback. I have changed the check-in to 3 pm, as I agree that 5 pm is unduly late. From now on there is also no need to strip the beds as this was purely a Covid measure. I recognise that the parking space is not ideal, but there is plenty of parking available in the town including Yarn Barton long stay car park two minutes away. I Property Owner

  • "Lovely old house just off the town square."

Beaminster is well served by pubs, shops, cafes and a good place to stay. The house is old and quaint but the kitchen and bathrooms are well equipped and modern. Big bedrooms and a cozy lounge plus a big kitchen good for socialising. Nice and warm during a chilly week in February. Thoroughly recommended.

  • "The good and the bad at Jenny Wrens cottage: Jenny Wrens is a good sized house for eight people, even better for three couples."

The bedrooms are very different: the en-suite double is a smaller room facing the back of the house, as is the en-suite twin. The front facing double and twin are large rooms sharing the family bathroom. There was a shortage of drawer storage in all bedrooms, except in the large twin where there was plenty. Jenny Wrens is right on the road and the traffic, even in January, was quite noisy early mornings and well into the evening. This could be a problem for some sleeping in the large double or twin. These two rooms also have a flat above, and being an old house any movement up there causes quite a bit of floorboard creaking. The showers worked well, but we found a definite lack of hooks, rails and shelving in the bathrooms, even where the space was available - especially in the double en-suite. No shaver plugs available, but there is a hairdryer. The sitting room with an excellent gas fire was very comfortable, though would be tight for eight adults. The kitchen overall was good, though the work surfaces are small. There was one medium sized cafetière in the cupboard, really not enough if you all like a coffee. Once the dishwasher was full you might run short of some items, like mugs and teaspoons, so one has to plan for that. We tended to use the back door where we could leave our outdoor shoes on the tiled floor. Some coat hooks here would have been useful. There is one small tight space to park a car. Neighbours' cars and the bakery also use the lane, but this was not a problem. Beaminster car park is nearby - and cheap. Cleanliness overall was okay, though some surfaces were missed by the duster. Crumbs in the cutlery drawer and also in the fridge salad drawers were not so good. Beaminster is a lovely friendly town, good pubs, restaurants and shops are right outside the door. There is excellent level country walking from the house, though to get the best views the walking can be more challenging. Overall Jenny Wrens is a great place to stay for a large group. We think it needs a few minor improvements, as mentioned, but its failings are reflected in the reasonable rental price.

  • "The family had a comfortable and enjoyable time at Jenny Wrens."

All was really clean and facilities were very good. Plenty of saucepans and crockery to cook large meals. The site of the cottage was lovely right in the middle of the village with an excellent bakers next door. Not really a problem only having one car space as parking was close for other cars. The fridge was the only slight problem as there is a small gap at the top of the door - I think the seal needs replacing. We'd like to come again.

  • "Only 4 Stars on Cleanliness due to cobwebs in some areas, 4 Stars on facilities due to plastic cooking utensils, which are not up to the job."

Otherwise near perfect holiday experience, ideal position in the centre of an historic village. The traffic noise could be a problem for some people, but if you want village centre you have to accept this these days. Parking in the mews at the back of the property is limited to one car and access can be difficult when others choose to ignore parking rules.

  • "Just returned from a weeks stay at Jenny Wrens."

We all had a wonderful holiday. Three generations of the same family. 7 Adults and 1 Dog. The cottage was clean, tidy, comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy our holiday. The Kitchen was well equipped and there was lots of space in the cottage for everyone. My Daughter parked in the parking space and I parked in the Town car park without any problems. Everyone was happy with their bedrooms. Great location in a very pleasant Town and ideal for visiting lots of interesting places along the Jurassic Coast. Highly recommended and hope to stay again soon.

  • "The car parking space at the rear of the property was very small and with the cars parked belonging to adjacent properties it was impossible for me to park my car on the hard standing."

The property was quite dusty on the first floor. For example, the bedside tables in the King Size Bedroom had a layer of dust on them. Other areas were found to be dusty too. Sorry. The noise from the main road immediately in front of the property was overwhelming sometimes, especially in the morning. It was impossible to sleep properly and we were woken too early in the morning.

  • "The house was spacious and the kitchen had everything we needed, it was well equipped and the beds very comfortable."

One downside is the lack of second parking space and the lack of information about available parking options nearby (eg a map/timings, how to pay etc would be helpful). We arrived late in the evening and had to figure that out ourselves, but once we did it was nearby and easy to pay through app. Also there was no information in the house at all about the local area, restaurant/take away suggestions, supermarkets, beaches, attractions etc which would have been helpful. There were plenty of guides and instructions though about the cleaning/maintenance of the house and requests to clean/tidy etc which we felt was a bit unwelcoming. Another suggestion would be to add blackout blinds or curtains in the bedrooms. Overall our stay was comfortable and the house in great condition and its location was good to explore the area so would recommend it and would consider booking it again.

  • "Jenny Wrens was clean, warm and well equipped."

The interior is light and attractive, bedrooms are a good size. The kitchen table seats eight which worked well for us. There was little / no hot water - showers were barely warm. As we were only staying 2 nights this didn’t impact upon our enjoyment too much. Location is good; in the centre of Beaminster a few minutes walk to a well-stocked coop and pubs/cafes etc. Bedrooms at the front of the property do experience some road noise. We would happily return.

Thankyou for your valuable feedback. I am so sorry that there wasn't hot water but unfortunately it had been turned off at the timer unit; this should have been checked before arrival. If there are problems with the accommodation I am always available to contact by phone and I only live a few minutes away if help is needed. There are also easy to follow instructions for the central heating and hot water in the information folder. Looking forward to welcoming you back soon. Property Owner

  • "The house was perfect and everything on the description was accurate."

The only slight observation I'd make, and it's a very slight, is that with a kitchen that size I would have expected more kitchen 'stuff', like a rolling pin, scales, more roasting trays. Other than that - perfect!

  • "Really enjoyed our week and would certainly book this again, there were a couple of minor things, but these didn’t spoil the week in any way!"

I would have liked to have been advised about building work being carried out on next property. The one car space outside doubled up as an area to sit out in but the noise from next door was off putting! Parking was a problem as we had two cars, we had to shuffle the cars around but again not major! We felt that there could have been more essential information included in the pack ie. doctors, dentists... But those things said, the cottage is beautiful, clean, well appointed and in a lovely village that offers a range of eating options.
