The facilities, and the comfort and cleanliness of the property itself, is of the very highest standard. The owners, Caroline and Andrew are lovely – welcoming and very friendly, and really go out of their way to make sure that guests’ every need is taken care of. The property is only about a 15-minute direct walk from Salisbury centre or a 25-minute leisurely walk through scenic fields and woodland before joining the Town Path with famous views of Salisbury Cathedral. The location is very quiet, with a garden which runs down to the river Nadder, giving guests the advantage of a riverside location with the opportunity of catching glimpses of kingfishers and water vole. The property is also ideally placed as a base for visiting places of interest further afield, of which there are many within easy driving distance. This year was our third visit to Nadder Barn, and we will certainly be returning again in the future, as this property is the best we have come across in many years of renting self-catering holiday properties. We can wholeheartedly recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit Salisbury and the surrounding area.

Thank you so much for your complimentary feedback. We are very glad that you have returned again to Nadder Barn and have enjoyed your stay as much as previously. Thank you for your detailed information on the locality and facilities, which will be very useful for future guests. We look forward to welcoming you back again to Nadder Barn. Property Owner

We were there for one week with to kids (2&5 years old). There is absolutely nothing we missed. It is exactly as on the photos, extremely clean and well looked after. Caroline, the host, is a lovely person with a warm and kind welcome and immediate help when necessary. The garden and the river are perfect for kids and parents, the location easy to get into town by foot (our kids don’t like walking, with a buggy it was perfect) and great for exploring Bath and Moors Valley/coast. Caroline had thought of everything when it came to stocking the kitchen. I can't think of a single utensil or cooking implement you would need that wasn't there. The bedrooms were equipped with comfortable beds, a choice of pillows and plenty of storage space. I appreciated the thought in the little things, such as a magnifying mirror and the variety of books on offer. Our daughter's had a fantastic time bodyboarding in the shallow river at the bottom of the garden. Another kind touch, allowing us to use the bodyboards. It was a lovely end to the day, sitting on one of the wooden garden chairs, with either a coffee or a gin and tonic, watching the sun glinting on the river and the girls having fun. Caroline and Andrew were extremely friendly and easy to get along with, helping me with a running route and directions on how to get to a supermarket etc. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Nadder Barn to anyone.

The TV had Netflix and Prime which was a bonus. There were many books, games, maps and walking guides as well as quite a collection of DVDs to use. The beds were very comfortable and the linens on them were of a very good quality. We sat out in the garden on several occasions, and down by the river where we watched the ducks, as well as a kingfisher! The location of the property was great in that it was walkable into Salisbury (for adults and older children) to access shops, restaurants, the cathedral etc. The Dorset coastline is just over an hour away. • "We had a wonderful stay at Nadder Barn."

This spacious but comfortable cottage provides everything you could wish for. Modern and quality amenities and tastefully decorated. Everything was also spotlessly clean. The location itself is quiet and perfect to explore Salisbury by foot, but there is also a bus stop in front of the house. Other attractions, e.g. Wilton House, Winchester or the New Forest are in easy driving distance. Not to forget the wonderful garden at the back of the house. As we have been blessed with dry weather, our children loved to play there every afternoon. The owners were friendly and helpful too. All in all we really enjoyed this stay and we would definitely stay here again.

  • "Stayed the first week of August with my wife and son (who spent every dry evening playing outside in the lovely garden)."

Thoroughly enjoyed our week. Lovely place. Great selection of books to read - most impressed. I re-read a couple of old favourites. Our son didn't want to leave.

  • "We loved our stay here at Nadder Barn."

We enjoyed going to National Trust places, eating out at a couple of restaurants for dinner and coffee shops. We also went for some lovely walks and trails; there were some beautiful public footpaths. The children loved the garden.

  • "This house is simply amazing and perfect."

The location is conveniently close to the city centre without all the hussle and bussle that goes with staying in a city. The accommodation itself is perfect, the owners have very thoughtfully catered for their guests needs. Caroline, the owner is really very nice and caring, she is very genuine with her welcome and tries very hard to make sure that our stay is enjoyable. Already on our list to go back.

  • "My wife and I holiday in the UK every winter and Nadder Barn was the second cottage we've tried out in the Salisbury area."

It is a lovely property and can be thoroughly recommended as a home-away-from-home for a couple (as in our case) or a family of four. Caroline, the owner, met us on arrival and showed us around. I was delighted to see (we took the property over Christmas week) the cottage beautifully decorated for Christmas, complete with tree and even crackers. A welcome hamper including bread, wine, milk, coffee and even a box of chocolates, was a very nice touch (some laundry liquid might have come in handy, though!). The owners encourage guests to use their beautifully-maintained garden, with a lovely lawn that adjoins the Nadder River, and the house is secured behind electric gates. Although it is in a built-up area about 150 metres from a railway line, we felt as if we were in the country and were not disturbed by noise from road traffic or trains (this was a concern for me as I am a very light sleeper). And despite the frosty -5°C we experienced one night, the central heating worked very well, keeping the house very snug and cosy. The only glitch we had was on our first evening, when we found the heating not working well. I reported this to the owner, who came in immediately and attended to it, calling in a plumber, who arrived within 15 minutes to fix the problem - being after dark during Christmas week, I am familiar enough with the UK to know this was nothing short of magic. There is a very nice 3-km footpath (“Broken Bridges”, I believe it is called) nearby, that leads across the Nadder wetlands, which I recommend highly to anyone who enjoys walking. We also found the Lush House car park on Cranebridge Road a handy place to park and explore the city, a 5 minute walk to the cathedral and other attractions. I tend to be fastidious and picky about where we stay, but wrack my brains as I may, I cannot think a single negative thought about Nadder Barn: all in all, I couldn't recommend this property more and we hope to stay there again.

  • "I stayed in Nadder Barn for a month for work."

The location is idyllic. The barn is well equipped with everything you could possibly need and is beautifully presented. The hosts went out of their way to make us feel so welcome. Caroline even sorted out postage to Australia for a GPS system I left behind! I highly recommend this property for anyone visiting Salisbury. I look forward to my next stay :)

  • "This is a top quality barn conversion with great attention to detail and high quality fittings and furnishings."

No attention spared, even the magazines, tourism information and DVDs are all current and well chosen. And best of all is the most beautiful expansive garden ending in a stream where there are ducks and the loveliest views. Importantly the owner is accessible and responsive as well as most helpful about the local area. Great location short drive from the train station - about 5 minutes - and about 10 minutes into the centre of town. Safe and secure behind large gates. Of the many places I have stayed, this was by far the best quality and value for money.

A gorgeous property, garden & location - simply perfect in every way.

  • "Nadder Barn is truly a wonderful place to relax, unwind and enjoy peace of mind."

It is perfectly positioned just on the edge of Salisbury to avoid excessive town noise but close enough (walk, bus or car) to enjoy all its amenities and sights. The property itself has been masterfully and tastefully refurbished, offering first class accommodation. The massive garden at the back and the private south-facing patio are idyllic when the sun shines. The addition of super-fast broadband was a bonus for us silver-surfers! The owner, Caroline, is delightful: ready to answer any enquiries but respectful of one's privacy. Thoroughly recommended.

  • "A lovely property."

All our needs taken care of. Owners friendly and on hand but not intrusive. Well placed to visit all the areas many attractions. Salisbury itself, Stonehenge, beautiful countryside and villages. Delighted by the chance to catch brown trout on the Nadder which really is at the bottom of the lovely garden. A first class hideaway that I would, and have recommended to anyone.

  • "We stayed here with my two young children over the New Year."

It was raining but the house was warm and cosy so you didn't really want to leave. The open plan living downstairs was great, lots of books and toys for the kids and the kitchen was well equipped. The kids loved running up and down the long corridor upstairs. Everything was good quality and spotlessly clean. We found a walking trail nearby that took us all the way into Salisbury. After a good walk (with the children) we ended up in the playground and in Salisbury city centre...a really lovely scenic walk practically on the doorstep. When the weather was dry the sloping garden was great fun for the kids too with the little tree house and the river (which is gated off) at the end of the garden The owner was lovely too, but they left us alone which was nice.

The property

From the moment you drive through the gates, you will find it hard to believe that you are only one mile from the centre of this bustling city. Set within the grounds of the owners’ lovely home and dating back 100 years, Nadder Barn still retains its exposed beams, original ‘owl slits’ and old brick walls.

The slightly rustic interior has been beautifully restored and now offers well lit, stylishly furnished, contemporary living spaces with exceptional attention to detail.

French windows from the main living area open out onto a paved patio area, from where a large lawned garden shared with owners, stretches down to the River Nadder. Being so close to the city centre, you have a wealth of shops and restaurants on your doorstep, making this an excellent place to visit for a short break or longer holiday.Private fishing is available on the north bank of the River Nadder at no additional cost, subject to guests having a fishing license and their own equipment.

There are plenty of paths that can be used to explore the city of Salisbury, so you can go walking.

Or if you fancy some retail therapy there are plenty of small shops to look at. Nadder Barn is perfect for a family looking to relax in the Wiltshire countryside, and explore somewhere new.
