The property

A superb, detached modern family house set in an elevated position in a quiet residential road above the pretty Somerset village of Croscombe, between Shepton Mallet and Wells.

Coombe Lodge provides families and groups of friends with well-presented and comfortable holiday accommodation, having an excellent fitted kitchen for all your catering needs, with a separate dining room where your group can anticipate the arrival of your culinary efforts!

Then retire to the sitting room, which has doors opening out to the raised patio, where you can relax in the sun and take in the views across the village rooftops to the countryside beyond.

There is also a separate snug where you can settle for quieter moments.

Upstairs, there are lovely views across the valley from each of the rear bedroom windows, enticing you out and into Croscombe’s characterful streets to explore further!

Take the short stroll downhill into this friendly village, where you can purchase local produce from the store or sample some fine Somerset cider at the award-winning 17th century pub.

Surrounded by the tranquil countryside of the River Sheppey Valley, you’ll find plenty of walks and bike rides to enjoy, however the small historic city of Wells is only three miles away, where you’re sure to enjoy browsing the quaint boutiques and marvelling at the beautiful cathedral.

Then, if you find yourself craving some retail therapy, the famous Clark’s Village Outlet at Street is sure to satisfy!

Further afield, but still easily accessible, are a variety of attractions catering for all tastes, from Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole and the Somerset Levels, to ancient Glastonbury and majestic Bath.

About the location

CROSCOMBE

Shepton Mallet 2.5 miles; Wells 3 miles.

The charming village of Croscombe lies more or less equidistant between Wells and Shepton Mallet, surrounded by pretty Somerset countryside. Nestling beneath the Mendip Hills in the valley of the River Sheppey, the village offers a thriving local shop and pub. During the 16th and 17th centuries, Croscombe was the centre of the woollen trade, and subsequently, many of the attractive cottages which now adorn the conservation area were constructed during those prosperous years. The nearby historic town of Shepton Mallet offers a delightful mixture of old and new, with some wonderful ancient architecture and a weekly market, plus a variety of shops, pubs and eateries. The town is also home to the Royal Bath and West Showground; one of Britain's leading agricultural shows held every May/June, with many other events held throughout the year. Wells, England’s smallest city, is named after the springs which still bubble up today in the grounds of the splendid Bishop’s Palace, situated next to the beautiful 12th century cathedral, while the quaint market square offers an array of interesting boutiques and restaurants, and a colourful twice-weekly market. The surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty provides a wealth of scenic footpaths and rugged landscapes, a superb centre for caving and rock climbing, whilst nearby Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves and several outstanding National Trust properties offer great days out. Alternatively, take in a visit to the picturesque Somerset levels, or mystical Glastonbury. With a wealth of attractions within very easy reach, this pretty village offers visitors a convenient and ideal touring base.
