  • "The cottage was perfect for Christmas and we had a lovely time in a very quaint farm cottage, with incredible scenery and wonderful walks."

We particularly enjoyed the real fire although it is important to buy kindling, logs are supplied and very plentiful. Everything we needed was there in way of crockery and utensils, luckily my daughter who had previously visited one of the other holiday homes at the farm, had warned us toilet rolls and bin bags would be in short supply, especially when shops would be closed for Christmas. Which is a fair way to travel anyway. So we had taken extra. Also the owner allowed us an extra hour to check out, to which we were very grateful. For 5 to get showered, packed up (we had a lot for Xmas) and clean the house as requested is very tight. We did also feel 5pm is very late to check in, in winter when it is very dark although the cottage was left very welcoming, lit up and with wine and biscuits, thank you. It was also beautifully decorated for Christmas. It is a very dark area though and unfamiliar if a first visit so recommend a torch. The description should be amended to say the Elm Tree public house is temporarily closed. We had booked a Christmas meal there and, unfortunately and very disappointingly, informed it was closed just prior to our visit. By this time the cottage was already booked. Hence we took a lot of food. It is very dog friendly and safe in the garden. The cottage heating was on timer and perfect for us. Just a note to be careful of the stairs. We didn’t find the games room, but there are a couple of games in the house and please note there is a key safe on both back and front door with the same code, not just the front door which was confusing on arrival. So maybe the description should be amended to reflect all of the above.

The views are stunning and there is an excellent pub within walking distance. Dorset has so many attractions which will mean you returning again and again.

  • "Lovely cosy character cottage, it's exactly as described on the website."

Lovely and peaceful location in a quiet village, but an easy drive to local attractions. Would like to thank the owners for our goodies on arrival. My husband and son especially liked walking our dog around the village, our dog especially loved playing ball in the huge garden. We had a lovely stay despite the unseasonal weather. Would definitely recommend this cottage, I would say if you have mobility problems I'd give it a miss, the path at the back of the cottage was quite steep and the loose gravel made it quite slippy when wet. The stairs could be a bit of a hazard, due to the low banister at the top of the stairs. Other than the weather we had a lovely week thank you

  • "Lovely cottage set in a great rural location with a nice size garden and patio."

We really appreciated the courtesy milk, biscuits, tea and coffee provided on arrival, a nice touch. The cottage was spacious for the four us with our dog and was also decorated with flags and bunting to celebrate the King's coronation. We feel the check in time of 5pm is a bit late, maybe 3pm would be better.

  • "My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay at this quietly located cottage which was full of character and ideally situated just a few miles from Weymouth."

The sloping fenced garden was ideal for our dogs and parking was fairly easy approaching from the rear. Both comfortable bedrooms situated on the first floor were accessed via a fairly steep staircase and the second bedroom had an ensuite WC and wash hand basin. The accommodation downstairs comprised a spacious fitted kitchen and a cosy comfortable front lounge with a bathroom and lobby area arranged at the rear. We will definitely consider booking this cottage again.

  • "We loved the cottage and the beauty of the countryside."

Very peaceful but with all of South Dorset to explore. Only downsides were the difficult staircase for someone with a bad knee and think this should be mentioned in spec. Also the oddity of a loo in the second bedroom with its 3 beds rather than the usual ensuite with the main bedroom. But will be back to one of the other cottages which are more accessible.

  • "Very pleasant and helpful hosts."

Good location for visiting lots of places, and ideal for the dogs, lovely walks and a good enclosed garden. Cottage was warm, comfortable and well equipped. We found having a downstairs bathroom not very convenient, especially at night. The Cottage was very well cared for inside and out.

Beautiful location - easy walks to the fleet from the back of the cottage. Lovely cosy & extremely clean and well equipped cottage. Our children loved the table tennis in the games room and the dog was really happy with long costal walks and sleeping by the open fire.

  • "Hi, we had a lovely stay - thank you."

Our only suggestion would be to provide a recycling bin or box within the cottage.

  • "Lovely setting and within easy reach of amenities."

Stairs were very steep, don’t recall a notice on this - would have been difficult for the very young or elderly. Bathroom could do with an upgrade, no mirror over the basin so shaving was messy! Upstairs could easily be rejigged to create a small shower and toilet serving both rooms, that would make it a dream cottage. Chairs in Longe seem to have a ridge in them. But overall, it was a lovely place to stay.

  • "The cottage was as described and we had a lovely stay for a week in October."

Ideally located for walking the Coastal Path. Just a couple of things we’d suggest - better documentation on things like where the bins are, extra logs for the fire, etc. also, on our last evening there was an infestation of small flies in the lounge. We have photos of these if you’re interested. I noticed some fly paper in the kitchen so wonder if this is a known problem. It did spill out last night there to be honest.
