    Mr Hutton

“The cottage was excellent, except that on arrival it was very cold and damp inside and smelt fusty.”

It was obvious that no one had stayed there for a few weeks. The controller for the Central Heating was set at only 12*C so it took a couple of days for the place to feel lived in and welcoming when you walked in.

The property

This semi-detached Grade II listed cottage is situated in the centre of Broadwindsor beside the village square.

With 18th century origins but now modern and smart, it is a charming cottage for families or friends in a pretty Dorset village.

From the big hall, head through to the sitting room with traditional beams and cosy wood burning stove.

Another lovely room to relax in is the snug with its comfy sofa and French windows letting in light from the terrace.

The roomy kitchen is traditional, with a good dining area and stable doors leading you through to the garden.

Head upstairs to the three bedrooms, all pretty with cottage style beams and panelling, plus the family bathroom with cute slipper bath and a shower room.

Behind the cottage is your spacious enclosed garden with a big lawn for running on, a summer house which doubles as a games room and a peaceful terrace with outdoor furniture and barbecue.

Wander out to the village for coffee and cake at the craft centre tea room or to enjoy a meal in the good pub.

All around is excellent walking in lovely countryside, including Pilsdon Pen Iron Age fort with great views.

There is a choice of splendid houses and gardens to visit, as well as the fascinating Jurassic Coast to explore.

Blackbird Cottage is a welcoming base in a convenient village location.
