  • "We had a lovely time at Rectory Coach House."

The facilities were extremely good and it was situated in a very convenient position to see lots of attractions but it was also very quiet. The accommodation had everything you need and was very comfortable and clean. I have a back problem and normally really struggle with mattresses but the bed at Rectory Coach House was so comfortable I didn’t need to use my portable special topper. The owner kindly left us a few necessities including milk, tea coffee, wine chocolate and biscuits. We will definitely be booking here again.

  • "The property was immaculate."

We loved the flowers and welcome basket. Very nice. A big negative for us were the notes on lots of things in the house that said "Leave here". Also, there were exact enough plates and cups. 4 of each. (The big plates were too big for the dishwasher, you had to lie them down.) And also the fact that we had to shut the windows (We got an email at 08.10 in the morning!) even with just a drizzle, was a big negative. We had already checked and there was no water falling on the windowsill!

Hi Klaartje, Thank you for your response. We have never had a negative response to the amount of crockery supplied before. Yes, we do have 4 of everything but that does include side plates, main plates, pasta bowls, pudding bowls, cups & saucers & mugs which has never been an issue and we do supply enough dishwasher tablets & washing up liquid for the week. I am sorry that you felt that the reminder to pull in the windows if it was raining to protect our furnishings was inappropriate as explained in our Information Folder but glad that you appreciated the Welcome Basket & flowers. Kind regards, Linda Property Owner

We had a very peaceful, relaxing and comfortable stay. Linda made us feel very welcome and the basket of treats and bottle of wine were much appreciated. There's a great pub just a two minute walk down the lane which is perfect for soaking up the evening sun over a pint and a bite to eat. Ruth & JP.

It’s situated in the very quaint village of Buckhorn Weston and has everything you could possibly need during a self catering holiday. The house itself is very clean, comfortable and spacious and sits within the grounds of a truly stunning Victorian rectory. The outdoor space is a good size complete with sitting/eating area and built in stone barbecue, all of which looks out onto a beautiful water feature in the main grounds. Does need to supply larger bath towel ( bath sheets would be better) or take your own as only one per person to last the week. If you intend to used the dishwasher would suggest you take some extra tablets as only two supplied but could do with more crockery. Television in bedroom would be nice instead of kitchen. If you are looking for a very quiet place this is the one for you.

We are sorry that you felt the bath towels were too small so we have now introduced bath sheets which we feel will be more satisfactory. We have noted your comment regarding the dishwasher tablets and from 2021 this will be increased. Property Owner

The property

Found in the pretty village of Buckhorn Weston, on the borders of Dorset and Somerset, this lovely, semi-detached holiday cottage is located within the grounds of a magnificent Victorian rectory, now the owner's home, dating back to 1861.

The cottage was once the coach house used to stable the horses, carriage and groom that the Rector and his family required, and has now been converted into a stylish, modern 'carbon neutral' holiday cottage, with solar panels providing all electricity.

Inside, the well-equipped kitchen provides you with everything you need to prepare delicious meals for your group, whilst the oak-floored sitting room has a wall-mounted, flame-effect fire and opens out onto a private enclosed patio, where you can enjoy alfresco dining as you discuss your day's adventures.

Upstairs are two good-size bedrooms, with fine views across the surrounding countryside from the master bedroom.

This lovely cottage provides all the comforts of home, plus the peace and tranquillity of a rural escape.

After a major refurbishment the Stapleford Arms Public House is now open, this delightful village pub is a 2 minute walk from the Rectory Coach House.

There is also a children's play area on the village green and plenty to see and do within an easy drive of the cottage.

Explore the amazing Wookey Hole caves in Wells and experience a tour around the largest and most stunning show-caves in England, beautifully lit up with amazing lighting along with a host of many other great attractions including a live circus, a mirror maze, a cave museum and even animatronic dinosaurs!
