“Some more information about how to use the cooker and the microwave would have been helpful, although we did manage eventually.”

One very small point - we never did manage to find out how to turn on the lights under the kitchen cabinets! (Obviously totally non-essential, but puzzling.) ...

One very small point - we never did manage to find out how to turn on the lights under the kitchen cabinets! (Obviously totally non-essential, but puzzling.) The thoughtful touches of flowers everywhere, sweets on the pillows and in a bowl on the coffee table, plus a bottle of wine and some milk in the fridge were very much appreciated. Also, it was good to have generous supplies of coffee, tea and sugar available. There were lots of useful information leaflets about places of interest to visit, as well as local amenities, and the supply of books, DVDs, CDs and games was a welcome homely addition. Tracey and Barrie were charming hosts, and it was lovely to meet their delightful dogs in the garden.

The cottage

A superb, self-contained stylish wing of the owners’ home imaginatively created from a former Victorian stable of Rehobath House and located on the edge of the Wiltshire market town of Warminster.

One of two cottages on site, the property is set in a quiet location.

This architect-designed cottage features an impressive sitting room, having high vaulted beamed ceilings which reach up to the second floor, and huge windows allowing the light to flood into this comfortable social space, above which is a most attractive gallery landing.

The flexible accommodation offers you the choice of either ground floor or first floor double sized bedrooms.

Whilst the spacious kitchen is fitted out with all you need to dish up tasty treats for your group, served in the conservatory dining room which overlooks the sparkling stream and garden.

The two acres of woodland garden are a real feature of the property, feel free to wander and enjoy the beautiful plants, or watch the visiting wildlife.

A short drive will take you to the well-known Longleat estate, with its stunning house and gardens, as well as the world famous safari park.

Easily accessible are the historic cities of Bath and Salisbury, whilst the ancient sites of Stonehenge, Avebury, and also Shaftesbury, Stourhead and Lacock Abbey are all an easy drive.

This impressive cottage makes for a most pleasant holiday base at any time of the year.

Note: This property is next to Ref 13552, together they sleep 7.

About the location

Frome 16 miles

The delightful Wiltshire market town of Warminster can be found to the south west of Salisbury Plain, at the head of the lush Wylye Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Well known for its military connections, the old charm of the town centre has been preserved, where you can still find quaint houses and inns built from the local Warminster stone. Nearby there are lovely walks in abundance, whilst no visit to this area would be complete without exploring the stunning house, gardens and safari park at Longleat. Alternatively, visits to the magnificent cities of Bath and Salisbury, or sites of Stourhead and Stonehenge are not to be missed. This lovely area is full of surprises, providing a great base for your excursions.
