  • "The only reason I was not keen on comfort is that I have mobility issues and found the sofa far too low to sit in."

I couldn’t get up out if it. Spent the time sitting in dining chair. But that’s just me. Otherwise the stables was fabulous. Oh, Internet signal is pretty poor.

  • "What we liked: Location."

Comfortable king-size bed. There are many reasons we disliked this cottage the worst - and first thing I noticed - was the state of the drain in the floor of the wet room. It needed the best part of a bottle of bleach down it to make it just acceptable. So much for 'enhanced COVID cleaning', to me it didn't reach basic cleaning standards. Ironically Sykes sent an email reminding us to "leave the property as you found it....." We speculated how long we would have to stay for the drain to get as dirty as we found it!! Negatives: in addition to above- small kitchen, hardly any worktop space. Old fashioned solid electric hob which took ages to heat up. Not suited to cooking meals, do they expect guests to eat out every night? Uncomfortable, low sofa, even using all the pillows could barely get comfortable. Wet room floor became wet all over after showering, taking hours to dry (no window, only an extractor fan) - there is a shower curtain which doesn't reach the floor. Using the toilet in a room with a wet floor isn't nice. A squeegee mop might have been useful. Lack of power points, you need to take an extension lead if you need to charge more than one device, or, indeed, use a CPAP machine - luckily my machine has a very long lead - couldn't find a power point by the head of the bed. No instructions about where to leave the key on departure day. We found the key under a brick outside on arrival. We left well before the required departure time of 10am. In the absence of instructions we left the door unlocked and the key inside on the table. I had a voicemail 2 hours later asking where were we as they could get no answer from the door, did we know that we were supposed to vacate by 10am and there were more guests arriving at 2pm. All they had to do was try the handle and/or look through the 2 windows to see that we had gone. I would not recommend this property. We have spent 10 of the last 18 months in holiday lets, this is by far the worst, so far.
