) and cannot fault anything at all. The beds are very comfortable, great shower, cottage is warm and the kitchen is well equipped. Gorgeous dog friendly garden. Great pubs - 2 mins walk either side and walking distance to the beach and beach cafe. Close to Bridport etc We’ll be back soon Thankyou!!

  • "Loved this beautiful cottage and found it very comfortable, clean and warm."

It had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Comfortable beds and excellent long-deep bath and great shower. A short and relatively easy walk to the wonderful local beach (and excellent beach cafe) plus plenty of other walks from the village along the river or on the cliffs. Two lovely pubs for eating out within just a few paces, plus a handy village store and post office. As per other reviews, yes the road outside the property is busy at peak times, but not enough that it bothered us. The front door opens directly onto the road, so great care needs to be taken especially with young children or dogs, but there is a latch gate outside front door. Didn't have any problems finding a parking space on the street near the cottage. Lovely garden and raised decking with seating, was secure, (but I and our dog were surprised by the gardeners being in the garden one day). It might be helpful if the gardener could knock to just let guests know he's there? But all in all a fantastic place to stay and we'd definitely recommend it.

Thank you for such a lovely review and we are delighted that you enjoyed staying at Bramble Cottage. Burton Bradstock is such a special place. We will certainly ask the gardener if he could let guests know when he will be there. Hopefully you will visit Bramble Cottage again soon. Nick and Sally. Property Owner

  • "Whilst the cottage was generally clean and tidy our holiday was ruined by the roadworks right outside the cottage only 4 feet from the front door."

We were only given a weeks notice that this would be happening and had we known sooner we would not have booked. Having been told work would be done after 20.00hrs we put up with traffic lights and workmen all day and our last night ruined the whole holiday as work started at 22.15hrs when the road surface was removed with large noisy machinery outside the bedroom window when the house literally shook with the vibration! The road was then re-surfaced and this work took most of the night making sleep impossible. This was all punctuated by the workmen shouting at each other to be heard over the noise of the machinery. We are still feeling jaded having driven home exhausted by lack of sleep and feeling very angry and disappointed about what should have been a restful weeks holiday. Had there been any sort of emergency I dread to think of how any vehicle would have responded through the melee out in the road!

We are very sorry that the resurfacing of the road impacted on our guests' enjoyment of our lovely cottage. Whilst this was out of our control, we have subsequently spoken to the guests to apologise. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was poor."

We found biscuit full of mould in the ground floor WC. The property was damp and alit if signs of mould. Plates/glasses were chipped but was fully equipped. The fridge was freezing the milk and food. The curtains were not hanging correctly The hall radiator was leaking and the cleaner confirmed this had been reported several times. A constant finding of insects linked with damp were being picked up before the dogs. We hired a Sykes thatched cottage 2 years before in Pucknowle Dorset and it was much better, being larger, clean tidy and did not have damp. What makes it worse this was advertised being larger and secure which it certainly was not. The gardener came before we left very early and began to cut grass and hedges, with no warning, which was not acceptable when we had dogs. The only positive it was central to the places we wanted to visit. Due to the above we just mainly used it for sleeping and eating drinking on our travels

We take great pride in how Bramble Cottage is presented to our guests and therefore we are disappointed to read your comments. It is unfortunate that this was not brought to our attention whilst you were staying at the cottage. For the benefit of future guests, we do have to respond to some of your comments: The cottage is not damp but you do need to appreciate that it is a 400 year old cottage. The thermostat on the fridge simply needs to be adjusted, if it is too cold. The hall radiator was fixed earlier this year - it is not leaking. The garden is secure - previous guests have commented on the cottage as “having a dog friendly garden”. The gardener attends early on changeover day (Friday) to cut the grass to minimise any disruption to the guests' enjoyment of the garden during the week. Property Owner

Cleanliness couldn’t be faulted, and the beds were v comfortable. Everything was on our doorstep, a village shop, pubs, the beach, and a park for the kids. We made some lovely memories during our stay - fossil hunting, cream teas, a visit to the D Day Landings museum, a walk to Durdle Door and a running joke about Dorset Knobs. 10 out of 10.

  • "The cottage is lovely."

It is nicely furnished and well equipped. We were very comfortable. The garden is also lovely - a real bonus and completely secure for our dogs. This isn’t made much of in the listing and so was a very pleasant surprise. So few holiday lets will allow two dogs and we very much appreciate home owners who do permit this. The only downside of the property is the noise of the road in the front bedroom. However we are regular visitors to the area and aware of the busy road through the village so this was to be expected. We didn’t find it an intrusion elsewhere in the cottage. We had a wonderful holiday, thank you.

Beds were very cosy. It was extremely hot when we were there and had to have the windows open and as the cottage is on the road it was a bit noisy but we live in a quiet village and therefore not used to traffic noise. Lovely dog friendly garden.

  • "A lovely cosy “chocolate box” cottage perfect for a nice break by the coast with our two dogs."

The cottage had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. Just how we like it. The only thing that was tricky was parking the car nearby to unload - the road is busy and that also made it challenging when exiting the property with the dogs. However this was not detrimental to our stay - just thought I’d mention it for future renters. The pub across the road is lovely and you can walk to the beach. Just wonderful.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. It is very much appreciated. Sally and I are so pleased you had a great holiday. Nick Property Owner

  • "Bramble cottage is a beautifully presented property in a lovely location."

The local beaches have ample parking and are easily accessible, most are dog friendly at least in one direction. The cottage was absolutely immaculate with all necessary facilities. The beds were very very comfortable. Before we arrived we were slightly concerned with some previous comments regarding the parking/busy street and garden. We managed to park on the street opposite the property every time we went out and came back, there was never any issue parking (early July). The road is busy but I wouldn’t say it was too noisy. The garden is absolutely lovely, we had perfect weather and spent time in the garden every day. We have 2 dogs, one of which is a professional escape artist, the garden is 100% secure. I was never concerned about letting the dogs out. Overall I wouldn’t hesitate to book this property again. The only negative - not enough coat hangers

Dear Jane So pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Bramble Cottage and for your kind and informative comments. We will order some more coat hangers. Hopefully you will visit Bramble Cottage again soon. Best wishes Nick & Sally Property Owner

Well stocked with nice quality, comfortable furniture and well equipped in the kitchen. It was tricky to park near the house at times due to its position on the road but this wouldn’t put us off returning. The location is beautiful and we loved West Bay and fossil hunting on Hive beach. Getting across the road could be tricky especially with young children or those who are less mobile. Parking was sometimes hard to find and not always available near the cottage. On the positive side the cottage was very well equipped especially in terms of kitchenware. It was comfortably furnished. The big plus was being able to walk across the fields to Hive beach. A lovely cottage in a very picturesque village in a beautiful area.

  • "The first thing to say is that this is a lovely, extremely well equipped cottage within a short walk to the beach, with other lovely walks nearby."

There is, of course, a but.......don't be lulled into thinking "it's a village, how much traffic can there be"! Parking and the traffic noise are a nightmare. Not only is the cottage right on the road running through Burton Bradstock, it is also where the road narrows allowing only one car through. Subsequently you have cars and lorries outside the window idling in a queue, or revving up to rush through. Traffic noise can start early, and two of the three bedrooms are at the front of the house and are unsuitable for light sleepers. Even those of us who normally slept well were woken early (we are talking 5.30 one morning and certainly by 7.00). As the cottage is right on the road, trying to get to the other side of the road where the pavement is can be tricky and time consuming, particular with dogs (equally I can imagine with young children). I looked for Donkey Lane where one site said to park and frankly this is illusionary at best, a narrow lane for single file traffic. Parking on roads nearby was a bit hit and miss and, I suspect during holiday season a parking space would be a rare find. The garden is lovely but you do have to pass the kitchen window and lounge of the cottage next door which feels a little odd, particularly at night when taking the dogs out for a last wee. Despite the lovely cottage I would not book again, and neither would any one else who stayed with me. Lack of sleep and parking do not over ride the plus points of the cottage itself.

I do think it Soho’s be worth flagging to customers that the cottage is on the main through road of Burton Bradstock.
