  • "We had a lovely week at bridge cottage."

Before booking a holiday we always read the reviews. A previous customer had left a terrible review, but that didn’t deter our decision to book, and iam so pleased it didn’t. The location was spot on, literally a 2 minute drive to one of the best beaches weve visited. The accommodation was all open plan so as a family we could be together, having the conservatory meant having our own space too if we wanted. If we came back to this area we would definitely stay again. If we were to suggest something it would be a few more utensils and crockery in the kitchen, ie pasta/cereal bowls.

  • "Bridge Cottage in Burton Bradstock is ideally located for the 10 minute walk to Hive Beach and the wonderful scenic locations nearby."

The holiday home sits within a complex of around 8 other permanent homes to both sides, above and behind. It is a period building and the decor reflects this, the facilities on the whole were good, especially in the kitchen, with a Large Country style range cooker and Smeg Fridge/Freezer. The main bed was comfortable and we slept well. The layout is indeed unique with twin bedroom off the open plan living / kitchen room, a rear large sunroom glass conservatory with access to the bathroom and main bedroom leading to the small slabbed yard. For any necessary grass required for a trained dog there is a park literally one minute walk away. The parking is clearly marked within the front parking area directly outside the accommodation and during our week everyone was ‘sensible’ in using the 6 marked bays, if you’re a decent driver it shouldn’t be an issue. A real positive within the complex was everyone we met who actually lives there was really pleasant, helpful and good to talk to. The interior photographs of the property represent the property well. The overriding positive factor is the location as the village is beautiful and the TWO pubs are fantastic, The 3 Horseshoes is 30 seconds away and serves great food, The ANCHOR INN is one minute walk away and serves SUPERB FOOD. The HIVE Beach restaurant is also great food in an amazing location on the beach. Virtually all the places were dog friendly. The unheard of 28’ ALL WEEK in September was amazing Cheers G&J.

  • "We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Bridge Cottage, it had lots of character and interesting decor which added to the charm."

Being ideally situated for the nearby beach and local attractions was handy. The facilities were good and the rooms were a good size for our party of 3 adults and a large dog. If I had to be picky the cottage parking if you have a large car might be awkward at times due to the number of other cars parked in the parking area. That said it was no problem for us as we only had a small car.

  • "Nice cottage, in a nice village, in a fantastic area."

The bathroom could do with a bit of modernization but apart from that we had a great stay! Thanks!

  • "There are so many issues with this property, I simply cannot fit them all on here."

It is most definitely not worth the £1,750 (+/-) that we paid. Our expectations were shattered, and the disappointment and property issues ruined our holiday, we left a day early. We will never stay there again.

  • "Bigger than the pictures looked."

Very comfortable and well equipped, although a food bin would have been appreciated. Not to far for facilities.

  • "On approaching the property there was a noticeably large crack in the porch window."

The entrance hall had a stale damp odour which got stronger on moving through the open plan front room kitchen/dining area. The front room carpet had a wet patch on it and the kitchen floor had wet patches too with a most unpleasant smell lingering throughout the property. The kitchen cleanliness left a lot to be desired with damp and mould stains on most kitchen worktops especially round the taps. The sinks had no plugs and were pitted. The cooking equipment was stained and grimy. We opened the conservatory door to get some fresh air and could hear the neighbour’s phone & conversation through the adjoining utility room. On investigation the utility had no conventional wall between the properties just an open lattice wall & windows which gave privacy concerns. In the utility a shelf labelled Towels for Leaks clearly gave us clues as to the origin of the awful odour which had been ongoing for some time based on the poor condition of the wood floor & surfaces. The lighting in the conservatory kept flashing which gave rise to questionable electrical safety too. We were unable to access Wi-Fi on the given code. A gaping hole in the outer conservatory cladding gave cause for concern too. There was no information on waste segregation and disposal. We found the smell and cleanliness unacceptable and left after one night. The property is clearly in need of a good clean, maintenance, new flooring and worktops and water damage corrective action. Of all previously excellent Sykes properties we have occupied Bridge Cottage is clearly the worst property we have ever stayed In.

Thank you for your feedback. It is a shame these issues were not bought to our attention during your stay so we could resolve them for you, we will be investigating these points further. The previous guests that stayed the 2 weeks before you both scored the property full marks so it is unfortunate you did not have the same experience. We hope to welcome you back to Dorset in the future. The Dream Cottages Team. Property Owner

  • "We felt utterly at home and so comfortable at Bridge Cottage."

The cottage is spacious and well equipped, with comfortable sofas and bed. (Very important!). The village is beautiful and there were two pubs serving food very nearby. Both welcoming to us with our dog; and both serving delicious food. The walks from the cottage are absolutely gorgeous and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • "We had a lovely holiday at Bridge Cottage."

It’s very comfortable and in a great location. A pub and shop are minutes away and it’s within walking distance of the beach. The cottage has a spacious kitchen, conservatory and living room; beds and sofas are comfy. There’s one dedicated parking space and you can also park minutes away in the village. A great base for a holiday in this part of the world.

  • "The accommodation was adequate for our needs."

Location is excellent with easy access to village facilities, beach and coastal paths. The property is rather old fashioned and is need of an upgrade and some TLC. Kitchen could be better equipped e.g. draining rack. There were lose hanging electrical wires in the lounge which may have been live (naturally I didn't test this, too dangerous). The shower is broken so the shower head can't be adjusted. Check light above shower, looks like an accident waiting to happen. Overall cleanliness was lacking, vey dusty and cobwebs evident. The outside space is limited, patio needs weeding, furniture needs painting and and no sun shade available. Whereas we enjoyed our stay we won't be booking this accommodation again.

  • "Brochure shows open space in front of property, when we arrived 6cars and a van."

1car 12ins from bedroom window. Wooden door step between kitchen and sunroom should not be there, should be down to floor, other rooms were loose not fixed (dangerous) No cold water to shower head, only hot(dangerous) A walk in shower would be better. Bathroom and bedroom shouldn’t open into the sunroom. Very small patio had weeds 6ins high. The property was sad and depressing.l would like to know when these properties are inspected. Not a pleasant holiday.

Hi I am sorry that have experienced an unpleasant stay at Bridge Cottage, we do try hard to make everything okay for a happy visit. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about the structure of the building but will certainly look into any loose fittings. However, if you had contacted either myself or Dream Cottages at the beginning of your stay we would have been able to sort the problem with the car and showed you how to use the shower. As for the weeds, we have had back to back occupancy since February and so I have been unaware that this had happened , thank you for bringing this to light and I will make sure they are removed Thank you also for your constructive criticism and I have certainly taken note Kind regards Liz Property Owner

Not so good if you have to take it out in the middle of the night. On site car parking is very “cosy” if you have a big car.
