“This cottage had everything you needed in the kitchen except a potato masher ha ha,it was very well equipped and cosy, however not having a garden was difficult with having dogs, but would certainly recommend this cottage to a family without fur pets for a quiet holiday.”

Have to say would not have booked this cottage had we read further on and noticed it did not have a garden, could not cancel after having booked this cottage.

The property

Found in the charming village of Cattistock is this pretty mid-terrace cottage in a rural setting providing a tranquil home away from home.

Chapman's Cottage rests over two floors and is suited to a family or group of four looking for a relaxing retreat in the Dorset countryside.

Climb the steps leading to the front door and enter into the homely sitting room with its characterful decor and charm completed by a traditional woodburning stove, a perfect addition to a winter break; warm yourself in here as you read a good book, or catch up on some TV for a quiet evening in.

Cater for your family and friends in the amply-equipped kitchen and dining room, where bright, light units house all you need to cook up a storm, before serving up a treat at the dining table.

The ground floor is completed by the sleek shower room, come here to freshen up with a hot shower before beginning your day.

Head up the stairs to the first floor and find a well presented kingsize bedroom.

The village of Cattistock is home to an amazing 19th century church, locally known as the 'Cathedral of Frome', visible from miles around because of its stunning tower design; visit this historic building before sampling some delicious food from The Fox & Hounds pub just a few minutes' walk away, once voted the best local pub in Dorset.

Head out on a walk in the surrounding countryside and plan a visit to the village tea rooms on your return for a well-deserved tea and cake, with many routes and trails well-documented in this wonderful AONB.

For a delightful day out, visit Mapperton House & Gardens, home to the Earl and Countess of Sandwich, this sandstone manor house is set within fifteen-acres of gardens and grounds and has a café onsite too.
