  • "We had a fantastic time at Puddleducks."

Lucinda couldn't have been more welcoming. It was in a perfect area for us to visit family and was near Sherborne, great for shopping. The village of Charleton Horethorne was charming and had a great village shop, and hotel with restaurant. We will definitely come back again.

We felt very welcome. Our border collie was relaxed and happy in and around the cottage. Meals out at the village pub were extremely enjoyable. Thank you to our hosts.

  • "Lovely cottage."

One issue is the shower. It needs hand rails and optional seat. I am 85 and it was not safe for me. Another issue is the single bed!! It is more like a bunk. Too narrow. Suitable for a child/adolescent but not adult. This needs to be in the description. Generally Puddleducks was excellent. I would Go again.

  • "Our experience of Puddleducks was disappointing to say the least."

Our initial impression when we arrived was that the property was tired and in need of some TLC. It could also have been cleaner. On the Monday morning we returned to find a significant flood of water from the bathroom extending through the entrance hall and into the lounge. The owner was summoned and all three of us mopped up the water. A plumber came during the afternoon and diagnosed that the basin mixer tap was faulty and well passed its usefulness. He was to return the following day to fit a replacement. He in fact came two days later. Meanwhile we suffered a further identical leak that same evening when going to bed, so at 11 o'clock at night we were both again clearing up our second flood. No we were not pleased nor impressed with this particular property and received little benefit from our stay.

The cottage is a beautiful, spacious and very well appointed but also has a really homely and cosy feel. It is well located, with plenty of places to visit reasonably near by (including Sherborne Castle, Yeovil country park, Montacute House) and there were plenty of dog friendly places to eat in. The size of the tv was a lovely surprise and the direct access to a secure garden was definitely an added bonus. Friendly, informative hosts. We would love to stay again - thank-you. Completely idyllic for our short break but would also be wonderful for a longer stay. Really appreciated the secure garden and access to the two large paddocks. Puddleducks is comprehensively equipped with all anyone needs for a self catering stay but there are also very good restaurants (and the village shop) nearby. We look forward to our next visit.

Friendly hosts who provided a welcome cake. Useful table display with places of interest. Big paddock for dogs to enjoy at the back. Nicely equipped outdoor area. Small negative is dogs must be accompanied in paddock as road access not fenced off and garden not dog secure so we made a makeshift barrier to keep them in. Overall, though, we were very happy with the accommodation, it's location and facilities and would return.
