  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Lamora."

The milk, cheese, scones and eggs were much appreciated. The bungalow was extremely comfortable and well equipped. It was centrally located with all amenities in walking distance. The garden was very pretty and dog friendly. Cheddar reservoir was a great place to walk the dog and was accessible for a mobility scooter.

Thank you so much for your lovely helpful review. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and I'm glad you enjoyed and were able to fully explore Cheddar with your pets. Happy Easter Property Owner

  • "The bungalow is lovely & in a great location."

The yummy treats & starter essentials were much enjoyed & appreciated. The plumbing needs a bit of attention, bath water starts hot, shower lever tests your muscles & shower head needs centralising, but advised that was being looked at after my stay. I forgot to mention the back outside light doesn’t work & the front one is a bit dim. Also, being on my own, a blind/curtain at the kitchen window would have been nice for when coming out of the bathroom & the bedroom curtains are lovely but cover the radiator. If the parking area wall could be taken back a bit more, I’m sure it would benefit everyone but I’m sure you’ve looked at that already. Please do not take these comments as complaints, rather as constructive comments. Overall, a lovely relaxing stay, managed a lovely comfy sleep when I could switch off from a stressful house purchase & me & my dog enjoyed chasing each other around the garden. Thank you.

Thank you for your welcome feedback. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay overall and the welcome. Our work to replace the shower enclosure and shower control which had become stiff is now complete Property Owner

The cottage is comfortable and well equipped with a good sized, dog friendly garden. The owner kindly provided plentiful treats for both humans and canines. Lamora is in a good location for both Cheddar and the facilities at Cheddar Gorge. We divided our time between exploring the local area and further afield. Glastonbury and in particular Wells are well worth a visit.

On arrival we were really pleased with first impressions, the garden was great for our two small dogs they had a lot to explore and we knew it was secure for them. I fell in love with the garden myself and the bungalow was so spacious and comfortable. Pleasantly surprised by treats left by Caroline, loved the location so near to the Gorge and village itself was lovely. Close to Weston super mare which we always love to visit as well as Brean, and Burnham by the sea. I'm sure we will return at some point ☺️

So glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for leaving such a detailed review, it makes such a difference to know you appreciated the garden and small treats we leave to make your arrival easier . It also helps others to know what’s on offer and the location. Thank you again, we look forward to your possible return sometime Kind regards and best wishes Caroline Property Owner

The gorge is amazing. The garden was safe and secure for our dog. The car parking space was fine although perhaps the border rockery could be cleared a little to make it easier to see how close you can park to it, to minimise how much car juts out. The beds, shower and sofas were excellent. We re-tuned the freeview on the main tv and found another 50 odd channels from where it was. The local treats left by the excellent host, Caroline, were superb and much appreciated. Overall, a fantastic stay and cottage to be thoroughly recommended.

Excellent value. If I was to change anything, I would have parking in the front garden, like the nice next door neighbour.. The bathroom sink was too small, although we understood it was to help anyone in a wheel chair. Needs a new shower, I had to leave water running & get my husband to turn it off. Thank you for the chance to stay in your lovely bungalow.

Thank you for your kind comments, so glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes , I agree, the bathroom sink is small , we hope we try to compensate for that, by providing a large one in the main bedroom. We will of course take a look at the shower control mechanism. It is a difficult balance, parking ,- it is a very quiet cul de sac ( we own the road with our 2 neighbours only having access to their properties)- this is why they have had to make parking spaces in their front gardens. In preference, we have tried to provide a private and secure wrap around garden for dogs and guests use, with the parking opposite. Generally whilst Cheddar was superb and the welcome pack was amazing this property really does need to be updated before further lettings and could also be made superb. There were some lovely touches, milk, butter, cheese and cider in the fridge and homemade mince pies and scones provided. In terms of opportunities for improvement, some attention could be paid to the decor/furniture; the bungalow appears to have been a retirement home/elderly person's house and some of the furniture and ornaments reflect that. Our welcome basket was fantastic. We had strawberries, fresh eggs, local chedder cheese, homemade cheese scones and pickle. It would be helpful if the bathroom had a shelf and place for toiletries in the shower. Would certainly recommend.

  • "We specifically book holidays which state off road parking as we usually take our disabled sister."

Lamora stated off road parking for 2 cars, and it does not. It is on road parking albeit a side road, If we had taken 2 cars it would have been extremely difficult to park, as it was we only had a couple of times when someone else had parked there and made it almost impossible to turn car round.

  • "The Bungalow is very comfy and accessible."

There was a lovely welcome pack with all your basics and as I had purchased this holiday for my Husbands 65th Birthday Caroline the owner had left some chocolates for him and the home made cheese scones were lovely. The location is perfect for the Cheddar Gauge and you can walk through the shops and cafes on route to the gauge, if you come to the end of the cul-de-sac and turn right the little village of cheddar is only a 5 minute walk and has a Tesco Express and small Sainsburys should you need basics late in the day. The property is very clean and grab rails in the most needed places. The furnishings are dated but very serviceable and the kitchen is fully equipped if you like cooking although there are plenty of places in walking distance to eat in or take away. The bed is comfy and there is plenty of storage in both bedrooms. The Garden has had new fencing since the photo's on here and is now very safe for any dogs and they get a bowl of biscuits and treats and have spare bowls, a toy and lots of covers for the furniture so you do not have any worry about your dogs being inside or outside of the property. The neighbours were lovely and very informative. We had a great stay and would go back and stay at Lomora again.

There was no support on either of the settees and the double bed needs a new mattress. There are grab handles around the property which are handy for anyone who struggles with their stability, these are very handy. The owner did leave various basics in the property which was very kind.

  • "It's a lovely little bungalow, very well appointed."

The garden is perfect for dogs, even escape-artists like mine, with a high dog-proof fence. The owner, Caroline, was extremely kind, leaving cheese, eggs, butter and scones for me, plus wine and a birthday cake. The house is in a quiet cul-de-sac and within an easy walk to the Gorge, shops, restaurants and pubs. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, but you could have a great time without ever leaving Cheddar. I've been ill, so the accessibility features, such as grab rails, were very welcome. At no point did I feel nervous about being there alone. Add Wifi, televisions in every room, efficient heating and an extremely well-equipped kitchen and you have the perfect holiday cottage. Many thanks, and I hope to visit again.

It was a very practical place for our needs with plenty of space in the kitchen for the dog crate as well as a conservatory. The cottage was very comfy and in good condition throughout and careful thought had gone into preparing it for us for Christmas. There was a Christmas tree, a Christmas stocking and toy for the dog, as well as home made scones, chutney, free range eggs, butter and Christmas cake on our arrival. The kitchen was well equipped and even had brand new roasting trays for the Christmas turkey. Brilliant.

  • "We arrived at Lamora quite late in the evening to a warm and welcoming cottage."

There was a declicious treat to welcome us, of homemade cheese scones with cheese and chutney, tea, and coffee so we could relax immediately, even fresh flowers throughout. Our host Caroline met us and made us feel very welcome and at home. She was very approachable and friendly, had left a comprehensive information pack in the cottage, was knowledgable about the area and responded immediately to our questions. The cottage is very conveniently located in the village up a cul-de-sac - a few minutes easy walk to Cheddar Gorge, a pub and shops, and very quiet. Beautiful views, great walks, lots of activities and things to do and see at the Gorge. Good location for seeing Somerset too. The fully enclosed garden meant that our dog could stay outside safely - Caroline also left welcome dog treats and poo bags! The cottage itself was comfortably furnished, with ample seating and storage throughout. It was clean and recently decorated. We slept well under cosy duvets, plenty of towels were provided as well as a comprehensively equipped kitchen. It felt spacious and bright, and for rainy days a selection of books, DVD’s and board games are available to enjoy. Wifi was easy to connect to and worked well. Because of the beautiful part of the country and the kind and generous welcome of our hosts, we would definitely stay there again

About the location

CHEDDAR

Wells 9 miles; Weston-super-Mare 12 miles.

The large Somerset village of Cheddar is a major tourist destination on the edge of the Mendip Hills, renowned for SSSI Cheddar Gorge, the largest gorge in Britain, which includes several show caves such as Gough’s Cave, through which Britain’s biggest underground river runs. The Cheddar area is unique; apart from the chasm, the Cheddar Gorge cliffs are Britain’s highest inland limestone craggs and create a spectacular sight. The village gave its name to Cheddar cheese and has also been a centre for strawberry growing, the crop being transported on the railway, which now provides a fabulous cycle path. Cyclists will also enjoy the picturesque paths that cross the Somerset Levels, while Wells - the country’s smallest city, with it’s beautiful cathedral, is perfect for culture lovers. Visit the ancient town of Glastonbury, well known for its annual music festival and connections to all things mystical. Alternatively, the scenic Somerset Coast and Exmoor National Park are both easily accessible, truly spoiling you for choice of how to spend your holiday!
