  • "We were very happy with the cottage and it's location."

No complaints at all. The only comment that I would make is that there is no facility for recycling waste at the property. We were able to park daily in the cul-de-sac by the theatre at the top of Coastguard Road.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We hope to welcome you again in the future. We will look into the recycling facilities for waste for the cottage. Property Owner

  • "Needed rail or something on staircase."

Only hand rail on one side. (Very steep) No first aid kit. No freezer only fridge. Faultless apart from these couple of things. Beautiful property and area. About 300 metres from crystal clear sea.

Thank you for your feedback. These old cottages all have steep staircases and we have done the best to make them safe with a handrail and slip proof carpet on the treads. We will be adding a first aid kit to the property, thank you for that. Re the freezer, we want to find a small freezer, but can only find full size ones that will not fit into the kitchen, so this is still on-going. Property Owner

  • "The property was clean, tidy and comfortable."

The main issue was that of access. The property is unsuitable for any-one with mobility problems because of its position halfway up (or down) a steep hill. Wherever you wish to go it is very difficult particularly as it is impossible to park within a short distance of the property.

  • "It was a nice cottage."

The location was lovely. The facilities weren’t quite up there as there was no freezer or Wi-Fi.

Glad you enjoyed your stay at the cottage. We are looking into buying a compact freezer for guests. With regard to the wi fi, the property is advertised as no wi-fi. So this is up to guests to choose to book or not. We feel the location and seaview is better to relax away from the stresses of day to day life. Property Owner

  • "Absolutely loved my stay at the property; the character, relaxation and views towards scheduling beach being my favourite aspects."

Noticeably it was very clean & tidy, comfortable, well equipped and the bed is a king size. Portland castle (English Heritage) is just a 10 minute walk away, albeit small but interesting with sweeping views of the harbour towards Weymouth & Chesil. Portland Bill lighthouse is a 10 minute drive away or you can take the tourist bus which stops just 2 mins walk away at the top of the road on Fortuneswell Rd For food there’s a Lidl or Coop a short walk or drive away as well as the Chesil Chippie which was the best I’ve had for years. The only downside for facilities was a). no Wi-Fi which is pretty standard in todays age but (tip) as a BT customer was able to logon to the open network and O2 have 4G coverage, albeit weak, and b). no freezer or compartment within the fridge unit which would’ve been handy for freezer blocks or the odd food item. As covered previously the parking was a pain but we unloaded heavy bags outside the location then parked up mostly as the bottom on Brandy Row, 5 minutes walk. I wouldn’t recommend this property for people with walking difficulties due to steep stairs and hilly surroundings. Yes I’d definitely return again.

  • "The cottage is clean & comfortable with beautiful views - however accessibility is an issue."

Access by car down a steep, narrow lane with very limited, mostly unavailable parking. All on-street and car parks were a lottery. The main road is one-way, so you can find yourself going in circles.

We are glad you enjoyed the cottage. With regard to the parking, for everyone living in this area, it is a first come, first serve, for free parking. There is also free parking on the road along the top of the Fortuneswell's Gardens with a short walk to the cottage without driving around the one-way system. There is also free parking at Chesil with a short walk up Wills Way to the cottage for more able bodied people. These are old Coastguard Cottages, which were there long before we all had the pleasure of cars, but were positioned with a beautiful view of Chesil Beach in a non-traffic very tranquil area. • "We loved the location and the cottage with its sunny patio garden and sea views."

The bed was comfortable with lovely fresh linen. The bathroom was newly fitted and spotlessly clean. The dining area was a bit disappointing but this didn’t matter as we are our meal outside. Only downside was the lack of a few basic necessities such as loo rolls, washing up sponge and tea towels. Otherwise a lovely stay. Great walks nearby with our dog.

Thank you for your feedback. We are afraid we cannot alter where the dining area is, but there is enough room for the table to be pulled out and opened up to double its size should you wish. Regarding the basic necessities, like loo rolls, washing up liquid etc, we agree and will definitely have a word with the cleaning company and ask them to make sure there is sufficient kitchen and bathroom toiletries etc for all our guests. We are glad that you enjoyed your holiday. Property Owner

  • "Very nice cottage!"

Located in a quiet street with no traffic so very quiet. Very nice and helpful neighbours. The only thing we missed is a coffee machine (for nespresso or likewise). I bought a cafetière myself and left it at the cottage. There is no dishwasher but we didn’t miss it. A bit strange that there is no WiFi, we did not miss it but In these times there should be WIFI available in all rentals. Nice decorated cottage, good double bed and nice garden! I took my own garden chair, the seat in the garden is not very comfortable.. The cottage is large enough for 2 persons! We loved it and we will rent it again for other sailing championships. It is in a walking distance (15 min) of the WPNSA (sailing academy).

  • "Well on arriving we found we couldn't park near even for unloading luggage eventually found somewhere and left the car their for the rest of the stay, and travelled round by bus."

The stairs were lethal for elderly people and those who has difficulty walking, having a drop on one side as no bannister that side. A wardrobe would not have gone a miss instead of a clothes rail. To use washing machine you had to ferret under the sink to turn the water on as it was turned off! I personally would have liked a line and pegs rather than a maiden. On a positive note the views were lovely and the use of the garden was appreciate.

  • "Cottage is clean and has wonderful views of the sea and of Chesil Beach with a small garden with seating to relax outside."

Cafe and Pub are a short walk down the hill and up hill to the small supermarket. Parking is at a premium and access by car is difficult as you have to reverse back up the hill and I was grateful to neighbours who came out to help. Advise to park at the top and only have light luggage. Inside we found the crockery doesn’t match and although they left a couple of dishwasher tabs on the side despite looking in all the cupboards we didn’t find one. Stairs are steep as you might expect in a character cottage but be careful on the way down as they are slippy especially if you have bare feet. The expelair fan did not work in the small shower room so steamed up easily. Overall if you’re able bodied and prepared for a bit of a walk to and from car it’s a lovely place to stay.

We are glad you enjoyed your overall stay in the cottage. Regarding the items you raised, the parking is first come, first serve. There are numerous places to park, free of charge, in the area once you have dropped your luggage off. We have a full matching crockery set for 6 in one of the kitchen cupboards, even matching teapot, sugar and milk and we sorry that you did not find those. We will speak to housekeeping and let them know there is no dishwasher. The switch for the fan is above the bathroom door and may have got switched off, we will put a sign near the switch. We have fitted some non-slip carpet to the stairs to reduce the likelihood of slipping. Thank you for your feedback. Property Owner
