  • "Very clean and comfortable cottage with all that we needed for our stay."

Loved sitting in the sun on the upper deck. Five minute walk to the beach and shops close by. Thank you for making our stay easy.

Thank you for your lovely feedback - good to hear that you enjoyed your stay! Property Owner

  • "Our 2nd stay in this cottage, it's lovely and very easy access to the sea front and shops (a very uphill walk for those though)."

It's beautifully renovated and very clean and comfortable. The bathroom is one of the nicest I've ever seen in a rental cottage. Driving into Clements Lane can be tricky in a large vehicle as the access is tight but there is space to unload in front and easy access parking nearby so lack of parking at the cottage is not a problem. I just wish the owners would allow pets!

We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay in the cottage. It was good to welcome you back for a second visit! Property Owner

  • "We had a pleasant stay in Ammonite Cottage."

Good location to explore the Jurassic Coast from; the cottage is almost on the South-West Coast Path and all the Jurassic Coast landmarks are within an hour's drive. The cottage was well-kept and small but cosy. Good to know that the WiFi doesn't work properly. We also noticed the dampness, especially on the first floor. Our pillows remained damp all the time and clothes didn't dry properly. No signs of mould, though, and there is a good ventilation system. The beds are excellent. The property provides you with all kinds of utensils (very convenient!). Do bring your own laundry detergent, dishwasher tablets and cooking oil. We enjoyed eating at the Cove House Inn (do make a reservation; it is popular) and The Little Ship, both just a stone's throw away. Our kids love to go crabbing. A good place to do that is on the Stone Pier in Weymouth (next to Nothe Castle). Just borrow crabbing gear from the Stone Pier Café (they are super friendly there, and have good cake) and find a spot on the pier (just walk back to the town centre on the pier - you can give it a go before and after the rowing centre).

Thank you for your lovely review; it sounds like you had a fantastic time! Turning off and on again usually does the trick for any WiFi problems. A new fan installed in the bathroom is really freshening things up. We are glad you enjoyed the Cove House; there is no better way to enjoy a Summer evening than watching the sunset from the Cove House, with a drink in hand! Property Owner

  • "The cottage met all of our requirements, and more."

Absolutely lovely little cottage, very cosy, clean and comfortable. Well positioned in one of our favourite places, with plenty of amenities nearby. We especially liked the balcony, which was a real suntrap, even in October! Definitely one we will return to...

  • "The cottage is tiny but is lovely and very well equipped."

It would be great for a couple, but as a family we struggled a little with space. The location is fantastic and in walking distance to Chesil Beach. We did receive some verbal abuse from locals when parking our car on the road behind the cottage, which was a little unnerving.

  • "Was totally in love with this property and location."

Amazed by provision of every little thing which isn't usually provided. Having brought our own kitchen towels, salt and pepper and washing up liquid etc, we were completely surprised to find all these things supplied....and more...down to a ball of string! Very impressed. We even played a game where we challenged each other to guess what wasn't supplied and we could find nothing wanting.... Decorated and finished to a lovely standard....definitely recommended!

  • "Nice, old cottage with history in the middle of the city."

Beautifully renovated and tastefully decorated. Kitchen very well equipped. Steep stairs up to the 2 bedrooms, which are not very big and there are no cupboards for hanging, there are only drawers, or shelves. The bathroom, on the other hand, is very generous, which is explained by the fact that it was built in 2008 from a converted bedroom, but a mixer tap at the washbasin would have increased the comfort. -: No room for big luggage. The backyard for laundry was nice, but a bit dirty. The terrace is not suitable for a longer stay or to eat. No waste separation possible. +: Extensive information on walking and sightseeing, as well as books about Portland available. Good bluetooth speakers, DVD collection, stable Wi-Fi :-). Walking distance to Chesil Beach and the Cove House Inn, where you can sit beautifully at sunset. Portland is a good base from which to explore the Jurassic Coast. We felt very confortable, just because Fortuneswell is not that touristy.

Thank you so much for your lovely review, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay in our cottage, in the village of Fortuneswell. We agree that there is nothing better than watching the sunset over the Chesil Beach only a few minutes away from the cottage. Garden chairs, table and a bench make for comfortable lunching on the terrace, which is a sun-trap in the afternoon. If recycling is a concern, there is recycling centre at the top of the hill.
