  • "Cove Cottage Hideaway is a small and secluded cottage in a very quiet situation on Portland."

The cottage was clean and well equipped, apart from a bath plug. The spiral staircase is mentioned, and although not an issue for me, may be for others. Also as explained in the listing, parking in the area is limited. On the day I arrived it was very difficult to find anywhere to park, which after a very long drive didn't make a good first impression. The rest of the week it was fine. It is an old building and as such is slightly damp and musty. I found my clothes carried the mustiness for a while.

  • "A beautiful cottage in a stunning location!"

Loved all the attention to detail at the property and felt very comfortable and at home during our time away. The garden was a great bonus too, lovely to sit out during the day and with the outdoor lights on at night too! Would 100% recommend and if we were ever back down in the location we would definitely be back. Only downside was parking but we managed to unload our cases etc just outside then found parking elsewhere (usually about a 5 minute walk from the property).

  • "Lovely quiet cottage, parking in Chiswell not so good on day of arrival."

After half an hour pulled into Brandy Row and had to sit in car whilst my husband had to walk to the cottage with the luggage. There is a narrow road to Cove Cottages only but would be difficult if another car was coming out as not much room to turn round in. Parking during the week wasn’t too bad just be prepared to walk 5-15 mins and it’s free.

  • "The cottage is very well equipped and very quiet."

Parking is a little problem and we would suggest unloading on the street in front of the cottage entrance as the appraoch walking from the parking is quite steep. A peaceful retreat.

  • "Very nice cottage for 2."

A bath mat would have been nice, but overall very comfortable and secluded. Ideal base for exploring Isle of Portland which for a small Isle has a wealth of delights to be found. We'd recommend the Abbotsbury Tropical gardens for a day out.

  • "Mostly excellent - very comfortable and cosy (and clean!"

). But while we knew about the spiral staircase, we do feel the description should have mentioned that the bedroom is upstairs (fair enough), BUT the bathroom downstairs - not easy in the middle of the night! We coped, but I know some people who go to rented cottages who would not have done. For this reason we have not given you full marks all round. But on the plus side, the light over the staircase was missing, but was replaced within a few hours of reporting - while we were out. Impressive! Otherwise we enjoyed several walks from the cottage exploring Portland Bill, including fantastic views of Weymouth Bay and the Jurassic coast, and the Tout sculpture quarry. All new experiences.

  • "Lovely, comfortable cottage in a quiet, private location."

Choice of outside seating areas to follow the sun and a conservatory for when the weather's not so good. Good location for walks around the island, but Portland isn't for anyone who has issues with walking or hilly terrain. Parking is an issue. There is free parking a few minutes' walk from the cottage and we didn't have problems finding a space in late September. It might be trickier in high season though.

  • "The cottage was really well equipped with many items that we would normally expect to supply ourselves."

The cottage itself was exceptionally clean and comfortable

  • "We understand Cove Cottage Hideaway is someone’s home, being let for the summer, and it showed with a lovely homely feel and some nice touches."

So many places to relax in the property and very comfortable and private. We really felt right at home thank you. Parking can be a nuisance, particularly with the good weather and it being high season. No parking outside the property, though I was able to briefly park outside to unload our luggage. It is a lottery finding a space either on the car park at the bottom by the sea wall, or on-street parking. We managed Ok but timing is everything as to whether there are spaces available when you need them.
